I cried when I read that part, it's so depressing. I care about Firestar too!
Firestar knew Graystripe since they were both apprentices [starts having flashback of Rusty and Graypaw meeting], and now to lose your best friend? I can't imagine how he felt.

I cried. And yes I do love Firestar. XD I did agree that it was time he died because he was old and we needed new blood, but I still say he deserved a better death. He and Tigerstar should have killed each other at the same time, not the mess with the tree and the Lightningbolt that we got.

Firestar is probably my favorite character!
And actually, the tree fell as Firestar died from his wounds he got from fighting (and killing) Tigerstar. And the burning tree fell next to Firestar after he died, not on him.

When I read the book, I remember Tigerstar trading to deal him a killing blow, but all he got was fur and lightly scratched Firestar. Then StarClan claimed that that wound had been fortold to kill him and sent the lightning.

I know! Let me go reread that part.

Yeah it says here "Dovewing held her breath, waiting for blood to pulse from the wound. But only pale skin showed through. Tigerstar's climsy grip had torn nothing but fur." (323)
And Firestar kills him without getting further wounded at all.

I'm pretty sure he was either struck by lightning sent from StarClan or killed by the concussion from the bolt.

I forget where, but I'm pretty sure the lightning was an omen saying something like "The Time of Fire is Over"

Kate stated that Firestar was not killed by the burning tree, but instead died of his wounds from the battle. Dovewing only imagined she saw him get up and walk away, and the lightning striking the tree snapped her back into reality
