Night finished the elk then walked over to Jay and rested her head on his lap.

He smiled, and without opening his eyes, he started to stroke her (hair/fur? XD).

(fur currently) Night's tail thumped on the ground as she wagged it, slightly surprised that she actually enjoyed the company and attention of another being. She closed her eyes and started drifting in and out of sleep.

Jay did the same, and as usual, his sleeps were dreamless.
In the morning, he felt still from sleeping sitting-up and against a tree, with a wolf in his lap, but he didn't mind. He stretched his arms and yawned, waiting for Night to wake up so he could move without disturbing her.

Night's ears pricked and she lifted her head, yawning as she did. She stretched and stood up, shaking her fur out as she stood. Shifting back to human she smiled at Jay, "Good morning"

"Mmmm..." Jay hummed as a greeting. He hated to talk in the mornings, and to move move, and the taste in his mouth, and to be awake in the mornings, but he tried for the others.
Jay stood stiffly, and stretched.
"How far do you think, Night?"

Night opened the pack of dried meat and handed a bunch to Jay, "Eat," she told him before shifting and scenting the air. She changed back and turned to Jay and the others, "Probably about another day's walk at our current pace, faster obviously if we run but I'm a little reluctant to have anyone but Jay on me, Evette too on a good day."

Jay ate quickly.
"Thanks! I can run for a while," He swished his lion's tail.
"I have extra stamina now, I dunno about the others, though."

Night looked at them, "Well seeing as nobody is human they should be able to fun, your little cat friend can follow our scent if she falls behind," she winked at Jay, "I'll race you."

Jay blew out a breath. He shifted to a cheetah-species, it was the most suitable.
"Alright... But I have to warn you... I'm pretty good at failing, so you better watch out!" He grinned.
