Depends. I overpaid for my 2010 greenies, or if I trade a rat I overpay a little. A year apart I can handle but 4 or 5 is just not worth it, especially if they end up just common. I would overpay a little for my Elven Hope hoard since I completely love the hoard.

Today I offered a 2013 common for an unknown, that is OKAY for me, since I still have many of those just sitting in my trades.
And it is for a fellow hoarder (not sure if that's an actual hoard pet, but duh) and yeah. I offered. And it was the Lapis cat, so even better, the littermates seem to be a bit more common.
If it's not extreme overpay, I do it. Sometimes.
Not everytime of course.
I usually overpay for harder to get hoard pets (like said Lapis cat), but definitely not for ones which are all over the place.
Example:
I'm NOT somebody who'd pay 2009 rares for current event pets though... =X
That is way too crazy.
