Madison sighed, feeling very guilty as she walked back to Dimitri, "I just...feel guilty," she murmured quietly, "you're being so kind to me, and protecting me like this, and I know you would probably already be out of here if you weren't walking with me..." she bit the inside of her cheek before looking back over at him, "I'm keeping you away from your sister." she lowered her head to look at the ground, slowly squeezing his hand gently, "a little faster won't hurt me if you want to go a little faster." she looked back over at him with a quiet sigh.

Dimitri gently squeezed her hand as he looked down at her, "It's okay, Madison. Everything will be okay. I'm with you right now, so I help you first, then I worry about my sister. She may be my only family left, but she has other people to help her. She may not be happy I didn't show up, but she'll understand that I got caught up in something else. And we are staying this speed," he said, shaking his head a little bit as he continued to walk on.

Madison slowly nodded, sighing as she looked over at Dimitri, then ahead again, she was trying to relax again, though she still felt guilty, as long as he was sure he didn't mind going at her slower pace, she wouldn't speed up. She let her eyes stray to the forest after a moment, actually a bit startled when she didn't see anything unusual, but she simply looked ahead again, wondering what the forest had planned for them next.

Dimitri gazed down at her with a gentle, worried expression. He was paying a lot of attention to their surroundings, instead of keeping his expression neutral. He gave her hand a very gentle squeeze as he walked with her, gazing at her for a while longer, before he lowered his gaze to the ground, his brown hair slowly sweeping into his dark eyes.

Madison glanced down at the ground after a moment, then ahead, her strides easy and as slow as they had been when they began. She was trying to keep at a steady pace, and not slow down any even when her ankle became a tiny bit sore. She looked looked down at it then ahead, trying to relax as long as she could until something else appeared or jumped out of the forest.

Dimitri watched the ground as they walked, and let out a slow, soft sigh as he walked with her. After a long moment of thought, his hand began to loosen around hers, about to let her hand go. He thought it over again, and then sighed as he slowly let her hand slide from his. He'd never been so reluctant about something. He lifted his gaze to stare ahead, no emotion on his face as he waited for something else to terrorize them.

Madison looked over at Dimitri, slowly letting her hand move to her side again as they walked after he released it, she sighed as she looked ahead again, having actually liked that he had been holding her hand, she wasn't as comfortable as she had been a second ago. Her eyes strayed to the forest again, seeing the shadows of a man against one of the trees again, but she didn't react, just telling herself that it was simply a shadow, she looked ahead again.

Dimitri lowered his gaze to the ground again, his mood falling quickly. He'd liked holding her hand. Even though he shouldn't have, he did. He took a deep breath, and reminded himself that he was just helping her. She only saw him as protection from the creatures lurking in the shadowy recesses of the forest. He looked ahead again, and tightened his jaw as he cleared up his expression, then slowly relaxed as he slid his hands into his pockets. He hadn't noticed the shadow.

Madison looked back over at the tree after a moment as they passed it, feeling a touch of unease when she noticed it looked more solid then it had the last time, but she ignored it again, looking ahead and continuing to walk as she focused on Dimitri as she had before, trying to fully relax and ignore the forest since she knew Dimitri had said that they may be feeding on fear.

Dimitri paused, and caught her arm, "What's wrong?" he asked. For some reason, something just felt off. Maybe she was over thinking something, and he could just pick that up. But he was aware that something was wrong, "Did you see something?" he asked, pulling her slightly closer to himself, before he looked around again.
