@everyone, I don't know if anyone is on so I may have to decide for myself, but do any of you think Brokensong could be a toms name?
Thanks

it depends. I'm usually pretty lenient with names, but they need to be at least somewhat realistic >_< so you'd need a reason for him to have a name like that or change it at least just a bit. The 'song' seems a bit feminine, but that's just my opinion

Okay, I am just trying to think of a name for my tom and I keep getting stuck, like nothing fits him. Brokensong came close to being something I liked but I'm not sure how realistic it is.

Edit
The broken kind of fits because his life/past is pretty broken, I wanted a totally different background for this cat compared to my others. I couldn't find anything that fit other then song though which like you said sounds more feminine. Hmm, well I have a little more time to think I guess.

you could do something more traditional like fang or claw or something. And you could actually have him have a broken franc or claw or whatever you choose so that it fits his personality but also makes sense in the traditional way

Nightstorm the Cypressclan Flirt

Postby ossa di cervo » Mon Apr 11, 2016 3:29 pm

Image
nightstorm
name meaning ; 'night' for his pitch black pelt 'storm' for his fighting prowess
age ; twenty-three moons (23)
gender ; tom
clan ; cypressclan
other features ; a tiny dent in this tail from a break long forgotten

why should I worry?
+ traits ; humorous, lighthearted, agile
- traits ; flirtatious, distracted, lazy

why should I care?

Ah, Nightstorm, the tick on everyone's side that no one can quite reach. A loved tom, sure, but still a bit of a nuisance.

Nightstorm was born to two warriors; the deputy before his days of retirement, Spiderpelt and a rather petite, gentle soul, Mistydream. The couple were on the older side, both nearing their day to move to the elders den, and this was to be their last litter. They'd had two before and with each kit came great, respectful, achieving cats so they naturally had high hopes for this last litter. Along with Nightkit came Fernkit and Greykit. Spiderpelt was thrilled to have two toms with his last litter, knowing they'd both become wonders and one would hopefully follow in his paws to later become a deputy at some point. Within a few moons it was obvious to Spiderpelt that the only kit who held any sort of promise was his daughter; Fernkit.

Nightkit and Greykit grew extremely close due to the many similarities the two toms had. Both wanted to venture outside the camp, both wanted to taint food with mousebile and both wanted so desperately to put thorns in the beds of the warriors. Tricksters for sure, the two were causing havoc and panic around camp by the time they were four moons old. Many a lecture came from Spiderpelt though the two soon learned to drown their father out. Fernkit, on the other paw, was a well behaved she-cat who had big dreams. She was taken under her father's wing and Spiderpelt would show her battle moves when the kit was awake and in a playful mood. Nightkit and Greykit eventually grew jealous of the relationship Fernkit had with their father - they only received lectures how come she got to learn battle moves?

The three kits grew and, far to slowly for Mistydream, reached the age to start their apprenticeship. With a great sigh of relief Mistydream and Spiderpelt watched their kits move from the nursery into the apprentice's den.

During their apprenticeship Nightpaw and Greypaw truly didn't sway from their troublesome, reckless natures. Fernpaw grew more sophisticated and snobby with each passing day. Greypaw had it in his mind that they should teach their sister some fun and when the snow began to blanket the earth, he planted his ideas in Nightpaw's mind. The black tom was reluctant, for his sister the idea seemed way too harsh.. way too dangerous. Greypaw laughed it off, easing Nightpaw's mind and making it all seem fine.. in the morning they would strike.

The great river had frozen over and thin layer of ice covered the rushing waters when Nightpaw and Greypaw convinced their sister to hunt with them. It wasn't often she spent time with the two toms as she grew tired of their behavior quickly but she granted them with her presence at least once or twice a moon.. today happened to be one of those days. Greypaw led his sister to the river and the two began to hunt near the frozen shore.. Nightpaw's stomach twisted into knots and he began to grow nauseous and uneasy.. something wasn't right. Greypaw's plan came into action when he pretended to see a small vole skitter across the river's frozen surface, "Fernpaw, there it goes!" echoed in Nightpaw's ears as he watched his beautiful sister rush after the creature. Her heavy pawsteps reached the middle of the river before the blood stopping crack split the air. Fernpaw's desperate eyes turned back to her brothers as she felt the ice split under her paws. Nightpaw instantly set off after her and reached the shore when his dear sister plummeted into the dark waters, ice fracturing in after her. The two young toms watched horror-stricken as their sister's body bobbed down the river under the ice disappearing here and there under the insist waves.

Nightpaw had turned on his brother in horror, demanding he go find Spiderpelt while the black apprentice followed his sister down the river. When his father showed back up beside his brother Nightpaw had managed to find a break in the ice and catch his sister's cold body. Spiderpelt saw his dear daughter huddled on the shore in a wet mess and instantly shoved Nightpaw out of his way only to find nothing more then an empty body. Fernpaw was dead.

Nothing was ever truly the same in the small, broken family. For moons Greypaw blamed himself and Nightpaw couldn't say he didn't but he never said that to his brother's face and simply tried to fix his destroyed brother. Spiderpelt essentially disowned the two kits never speaking to either and never approving of any training or hunting accomplishments they made. Mistydream was heartbroken, but she know deep down that these two jokers were still her precious kits. Nightpaw sought his mother out most nights, craving to sleep next to her and wake up with Fernpaw near his side, prompting him to stop being such a kit.. though it never happened.

Greypaw slowly lost all his lust for life and his craving for adventure. He instead turned into a cold, empty tom who didn't much care for anything. Nightpaw took him out often and tried to put the pieces back together by climbing up trees, chasing prey into ditches or pouncing leaves in camp.. it was all futile. The only time Nightpaw saw Greypaw alive again was when Nightpaw slipped from a high up tree branch and plummeted back down to the earth, falling solidly on his back. Luckily to Nightpaw he received nothing more then a broken tail.

One morning Nightpaw woke and Greypaw was no where to be found. Assuming the tom had gone hunting, Nightpaw didn't worry about it until several hours later when his brother still hadn't returned. Attempting to express his worry to his father, Nightpaw received a heavy lash across his shoulder and harsh words about how Spiderpelt couldn't care less if Greypaw wound up dead. Taking it upon himself Nightpaw followed the vague scent trail Greypaw had left earlier that morning only to find that it led to the edge of the territory. His heart yearned to follow the scent, trudge on after Greypaw and shake some sense into his brother but he knew better; Greypaw was gone and wouldn't be coming back.. he'd left.. the misery of losing Fernpaw had truly eaten the tom alive.

Nightpaw gave the news to his parents and while Spiderpelt reply with no more then a grunt, Mistydream was in complete shock and held Nightpaw for the rest of the night.

Moons later Nightpaw's mother and father both slipped away in their sleep. The two left peacefully and Nightpaw eventually received his warrior name; Nightstorm. To this day he finds himself pondering what Greypaw and Fernpaw's name would've been though he tries not to dwell.. A positive tom, Nightstorm has learned to live and let live.. forgiving is the best medicine. For a while the tom was a bit on the empty side until one dream led to him seeing his precious sister and mother.. They both spoke to him and told him not to lose his lust for life as Greypaw did. They told him to live life to the fullest and enjoy every second of it..

Thus, Nightstorm was truly born. A flirtatious, handsome pain in the clan's back.

((I DIDN'T THINK IT WOULD GET SO LONG. I'M SORRY. xD))
