Zeph, who was partially submerged in shadows, surveyed calculatively, observing the scene that had erupted around him.
First, flame-boy had to erupt into a human tiki-torch, then had explain how his memory was taken, after becoming a royal guard.
A royal guard? Guard > King > Job > Kingdom > Connections = We should keep him around, he could be useful.
Classically trained, hm? That didn't seem very classically trained to me. Zeph thought, on the verge of mentally yawning.
...It didn't seem like your fire magic was very 'controlled' to me. His gaze turned to Jack, as a slight smirk formed against Zeph's impassive expression.
Hm. Jack. Who knew. Zeph thought, coming to the conclusion that Jack was easily one of the most realistic people in the room.
Zeph leaned passively, and quite possible bored, against the nearest wall, as Flame Boy continued to explain his oh-so-pertinent prelude.
Prelude. That's what this is. That's what this feels like. Zeph realized, unable to shake the feeling that this could only be rising action in some larger plot.
Hm. Zeph scoffed slightly.
Your eyes glow when you're stressed? That'd be a change of pace. He noted, mostly under his breath, obviously referring to his own constantly glowing eyes.
So, we could either gather in a circle and sing kumba- He began to say, until a chill swept across the corridor, extinguishing the fire- darkness surging swiftly radiating outwards. Zeph rotated his hand, creating an oscillating stream of purple fire that materialized around it
Uh, brother... Why is your hat still visible in the dark? Guzore questioned.
Surprisingly valid. Zeph thought.
Disembodied echoes tappered from around the corridor.
----
Zeph listened intently, now standing without support, as the culprits explained who they were.
Finally, something chaotically interesting.
We could be adventurers from a far off land! Thirsting for adventure!
Nope, ruled that out with a bomb.
Or we could be thrives in the shadows, Looking for loot to take for our own!
Nope, would of waited before or after us. Too sloppy.
We could be mercenaries. Out for all of your heads.
Nope. A good mercenary wouldn't of been so careless and given themselves away, the odds are too favorable to us. Zeph thought, their arguments only seeming more and more ridiculous.
You will never know who's side we are on, and boy do we love guessing games.
None of the above. Zeph said, finally chiming in.
You're on your own side. So once again, none of the above. Too obvious, you weren't careful enough to of been anything besides impulsive and chaotic. And to think, I wanted a challenge. However, he did enjoy the dynamic duo piece.
The whole reflective thing was really working.
White hair over there, glowing eyes over there, what's next? A guy with comprehensive magic abilities, white hair, and glowing eyes? Oh, wait. That's me. Zeph thought, smirking slyly.
