I was thinking that since she hadn't used her magic in a while, basically the things that's been keeping her alive, she begins to start getting really sick because her time is catching up with her and Merasmus would have to try and activate her magic again. And it take 3 tries to actually unlock her magic again)

Actually I wasn't even aware that anybody but elves could get Rüne tattoos." I gently stroke Lucy's face.
