Wolves are so essential, we need them.. Like really need them. And these hunters out there killing them because they are supposedly killing off all the herds. Well, no.. They are moving the herds so they don't overgraze and also killing off the sick and weak ones so as to not slow down the herds. They also help rivers, ecosystem, etc. But these hunters and wolf haters are so blind to that and so stubborn to seeing what these beautiful important creatures do. They only see them as killing machines which is not what they are.. They gotta eat too. What are they gonna eat? Grass like the herds? No. Just ridiculous and it bothers and frustrates me everytime I talk about it.

I love wolves. I am not a 'wolf hater.' I simply recognize that overpopulation of wolves in certain areas is an issue that needs to be dealt with. Hunting wolves due to overpopulation actually helps the wolves! If they become overpopulated they'll kill too much prey, leaving many individuals without enough food. They'll then starve to death or die of disease. Both far more slow and painful than a quick bullet.

Wolves in proper numbers in their native habitats do help the ecosystem and keep prey species in check. You're absolutely correct on that. But when they become overpopulated they will only hurt themselves and their ecosystem.

I really like wolves. They are amazing, strong, and beautiful creatures. However, I don't think they're like fluffy dogs who love humans and would be your pet. They're not super endangered, either. Many wolf species are thriving and are in the least concern category. I hate when people act like they're endangered and that hunting is horrible. I don't agree with killing animals unless it's for food or protection, but I'm fine with hunters as long as they're not significanty affecting the wolf population and they're hunting in the right seasons. But like an earlier post in this thread, it should be you vs wolf. No helicopters or radio collars (like they're hunting Ghost's packs, which is very cruel and should be stopped). Just you and the wolf. Like Orque just said, wolves shouldn't always be killed, but they shouldn't never be killed. Wolves aren't super endangered. There are far more endangered species that are just as important to ecosystems as wolves but don't get as much attention.

There was a debate a few pages back about whether timber wolves and grey wolves were the same species or not, I did a bit of googling and it turns out the timber wolf is a subspecies of grey wolf which is debatably classified as a separate species. So actually both sides are pretty much correct.

Hah. Actually they will kill livestock because it is easier and requires less energy. If you ever look at a dog walking vs a wolf you will see the dog zig zagging all over but the wolf will go in a straight path to where it wants to go. Why is this? The wolf doesn't know where it's next meal will come from... But the dog does. The dog doesn't need to save energy because it knows it's owner will feed them. Wolves kill livestock because it's an easy source of food not because they are desperate. Jeesh.

okay. so first of all, i'd like to establish that wolves are one of my favorite wild animals. ive loved them since a very young age. they're beautiful creatures and an important part of the ecosystem. coyotes aren't exactly in my top 10 favorite animals, but i don't despise them.

but the people who are like "wE HAVE TO KILL!!111!! ALL THE COYOTES11!!1 THEY EAT OUR pETS!!1" are the most idiotic. naturally, as the coyote population dips due to killing, the coyotes reproduce faster than ever to level out the number of coyotes again. no matter how many you kill, a new pup is born for each dead one. basically, resistance against coyotes is futile.
and most of the pets who are eaten/killed by coyotes are outdoor cats and dogs who aren't allowed in the house. if you have a cat and you know that the area you live in is heavily populated by coyotes, please keep it an indoor cat. and don't chain your poor dog to the fence in the back alley unattended and unprotected. im not saying all of the pet deaths by coyotes are the owner's fault, not at all. but if the people just learn, that death percentage could be decreased greatly.

well. that's my two-cents for you of coyotes. correct me if I'm wrong on anything~

I love wolves myself, Sadly where I live we have none due to it being too dangerous for the people and the wolves. Also where I live I don't wolves ever lived here anyway, We have foxes who are cute. Honestly when it comes to killing wolves I say only kill one if it is about to attack you but wolves actually attacking humans are so slow so I doubt it will happen in most people's life times.

I love wolves and actually had an up close experience where I live
I thought it was going to attack but instead it wagged its tail and went on its back.
It was very cool and I loved it but soon after I left I remember I had seen a tag on
its ear so I knew it had been with humans before <3

So my overall opinion is that wolves are amazing creatures and when they attack
people its only because they are dominating you because you may have stepped
into their territory.

They would not release a wolf who was that friendly towards humans as its a huge threat. A wolf approached you that friendly it would be shot sorry. Ear tags are also very uncommon in wolves as its mostly radio collars which are used to keep track of a WILD animal.

Wolves also don't see humans as something to be dominated its out of instincts, food, space, threat, and breeding and also dieses nothing fluffy or magical. A wolf will eather run or attack.

Honestly? I hate the way people think of wolves as majestic gods - wolves are beautiful creatures, yes, some are endangered, yes. But they aren't supposed to be worshipped like some people do. They are just animals - I am not saying wolves are not as good as humans because they're animals - in fact humans are animals too, but I have seen "wolfaboos" and they are pretty horrible people.
Anyway, wolves are nice, wolf pups are cute, deforestation is a problem.
