Rift and the others discussed the issue of where to go when a sudden idea popped into his mind. "The rainforest!" he said out loud. "We should go there!" Then he remembered that Solstice had taken control of it.

xxJackal walked around the town, looking for anything cool. In his talons, he held his earnings from putting up the family trinket stand earlier, and also some of his earnings from days before. I might get somethin' nice or not at all. A shine caught Jackal's eye, and he spun to the left and walked up to the stand. A female IceWing stood behind it, looking in the other direction and talking to a SandWing at the entrance of a nearby building. Jackal arrived at the stand, catching the IceWing's attention and stopping her conversation. He examined a crystal, only to realize it was a cold, unmelting ice shard.
xxThe IceWing explained what they were, how they were made, and what they do. Apparently, the ice shards were good for communicating. "Sounds good. How much?" Jackal said, only to be surprised at the price. Well, it better be true.
xxThe six-year-old SandWing put his earnings on the sandy ground, counting up to make something that equaled twenty sapphires, while the IceWing waited patiently behind her stand. Two emeralds, four rubies, and eighteen sapphires. That's only worth thirty-nine sapphires! He frantically scanned his earnings for sapphires, only to find another ruby. Deciding it'd do, he took out a sapphire and put the ruby into the stack. Jackal put his earnings back in the small bag and looked back up at the IceWing, picking up his gem stack and handing it to her. Satisfied, she pushed two ice shards towards him. He picked them up, and the IceWing told him to pick out two cords, one for each ice shard. Nodding, Jackal picked out two gem-embedded, thick leather cords. An emerald decorated cord for him, and an amethyst-embedded cord for the second one, intended to be for his sister or a close friend. Not that he had a close friend, other than Fennec, his sister.
xxJackal left the ice shard stand, thinking about returning home, even though the day still seemed young.

Falcon looked up at the grey sky "rift... I don't like this..." she said not sure why

Obsidian glanced between the two. "I vote Ice Kingdom. The rainforest is way too dangerous." The SkyWing glanced at Falcon, than at the sky in confusion. "What's wrong, Falcon?"

Reaper- "We'll head for the ice kingdom. I've already allied myself with the queen. As for Sleet..." Reaper growled. "I vote we leave him."

Heatwave- "Here," Heatwave said to Sleet, holding out a vial of greenish liquid. "Take this."
