Why do I Want Her?When I saw her I really loved her design. I knew when I looked at her that I wanted to include her in my ever-growing RPW family. Her lovely black pelt is great, and the small white accents look so delicate, but almost as if they're hiding something. The gorgeous little markings on her green turquoise, lavender, and purple accents look AMAZING on her, as well. When I looked at her, she looked mysterious - like she was hiding a secret of some sort. This idea took hold of my mind, and really inspired me to try for her.
What Will I do With Her?Well, now that I've FINALLY completed my
RPW Website, I can now say with confidence that she'll get a spot of his own on there. She'll be a beloved character of mine, as I will sketch and draw her whenever I can (I sketch once a week, and draw less frequently, but when I do have time to draw I'll make some art of her). If I can't draw her, I will probably order art of her. I love writing, as well, so I'll be writing stories about her and her family and friends, which I hope to do frequently. If there are ever any RPW events, I could probably use her in them as well, should she fit into the storyline well.

Name:Ballari
(ball-ARR-ee)
Gender:Female
Scars and Tattoos:Ballari has a facial tattoo on the backs of both of her ears. To the average passerby, if a being were to look at the backs of her ears, they'd see two small dots and assume she were wearing double-sided earrings. Actually, these dots are tattoos, each one different. The one on her left ear is a key, and the one on her right ear is a lock. These two symbols have a lot of meaning for her, as one of the first things she learned once she finished gymnastics was how to pick a lock. Locks and keys are also important for what they symbolize: if one can unlock something, one has the power to get through whatever was unlocked. Ballari likes that power, and strives to do well in life by unlocking it's mysteries.
Ballari has a lot of scars. Her back leg is pretty mangled from accidents that have happened, but the scarring is only on the outer portion of her leg. She also has a scar running across her right eye from a gymnastic accident when she was very young. Other than that, she doesn't have too many scars, and most aren't noticeable thanks to her thick fur.
Accessory:Ballari isn't ever far from two things: a weapon and her jewelry. She adores necklaces more than anything else, and will always have some sort of necklace on, if not with earrings to match. She'll change her accessories for whatever job she's got, and when she doesn't have work, she'll change them according to however she wants to look or however she's feeling. With her gun, she's usually got it stashed nearby, even when she's not got an assignment to complete - she'd rather be safe than sorry. If she doesn't have her gun, she's got a sword or knife on her person. Occasionally, she'll even have miniature throwing spears hidden in her jacket somewhere. She'd rather know she's steps away from protection than being without her most essential and easy-to-use weapons.

Hobby:Acrobatics (Parkour)Having been interested in gymnastics from a very young age, Ballari soon grew to hone her talent as an acrobat. She can fly through the air, soaring through the open expanse of nothingness, twirling in a graceful arc, and landing on her feet. She's only ever fallen a few times, and those trip-ups were towards the start of her training. She is fast learner, and can mimic nearly anything she sees if she observes it closely enough. Excelling at gymnast routines quickly became mundane for her, so on top of her gym training, she turned to parkour in her free time, scaling walls, climbing rocks, and leaping from rooftops. After graduating the gym course she'd been in most of her young life, she moved onto training with the Navy Seals. She was slower than the rest of them, but did complete every task they assigned her. After a few years in that environment, she was only slightly below the Seal's speed levels. After one more year of trying to get past their top speeds and being unable to do so, she dropped out and turned once again to parkour. Once out of the Seals, though never serving with any of them in war, she knew she'd be recognized by anyone who'd trained with her, and she didn't want to be harassed or annoyed with old friendships coming to light again. So, once she put her life wholly into parkour, she completely changed her style and her hair. She dyed it herself, completely obliterating the naturally dark locks she'd had before. She got a tattoo on her face and pierced her ears. She then delved wholly into parkour, trying and excelling at the most dangerous stunts. Soon, leaping off of high buildings became a norm for her, and being able to jump even the tallest and most formidable walls became commonplace. She yearned to challenge herself more, and she longed to improve her skills, but knew not where to turn. That was when she was recruited to be an assassin.
Occupation:Assassin and ThiefA "for-hire," Ballari's job is to make it look like nothing odd happened in whatever task she is assigned. Her job is difficult and challenging, but that's what she loves about it. Her morals play directly into her job - she doesn't believe in just killing others aimlessly, but only those who are corrupt and whom she knows will never change. If there is ever an assignment she gets where she doesn't feel comfortable going through with the task, she will refuse to do it, often to the annoyance of her nameless employer. If she feels even the slightest bit of regret about having to go through with anything, she will not do it. Her income is not fixed, and fluctuates depending upon the job she must complete. Sometimes she's able to get into houses and steal jewels or money, even when she's not on assignments, and this income is more easily obtainable, and is where she honestly makes most of her money. It might not be the most glamorous or socially-accepted job, but if it puts bread on the table, who's she to complain about it?
Medical Issue(s):- Scars. Ballari has many scars, mostly on the right side of her body. She has several on her back right leg; and a one on the right side of her face, running from her upper forehead to her nose.
The Order believes in a strong set of values that strictly govern their way of life, referred to as "the Creed". This Creed consists of three tenets:
"Stay your blade from the flesh of an innocent."
"Hide in plain sight, be one with the crowd."
"Never compromise the Brotherhood."

Long Personality:Ballari is hard to understand. Strict with herself and others, she refuses to break her own moral code - but her moral code in and of itself permits the killing of others...though not those innocent to any crimes. Ballari justifies her actions by stating that she feels no remorse over those she's killed...but if she were honest with herself, she'd realize that, though not with all of her assignments, some she has killed she does feel remorse over. She wishes she could change the past, but she knows she cannot, and thus chooses to not dwell upon her poor life choices up to this point in her life.
Observational, Ballari can read anyone like an open book. A master at deduction, she can truly figure anything out by staring at it long enough. Because of this ability, she is quickly able to conceal herself in any circumstance, and can blend into any crowd. Not easily distracted, Ballari can focus on anything that she needs to, and this ability of being able to block out her surroundings when needed has saved her tail more than once.
Skilled in combat and evasive maneuvering, Ballari is swift and agile. Graceful, Ballari will never be seen tripping or falling. As graceful as a cat, Ballari has an excellent sense of balance and proportion, and can easily figure when she's being over-weighted by something or close to falling over and quickly change positions so as to save her own skin. Even though she's agile, when she does move she sometimes does so without thinking, and often leaps before she looks. This has gotten her into pickles before, but nothing she can't solve, fortunately.
Determined and confident, Ballari doesn't take any baloney from anyone. If you talk back to her, she'll shut you up as fast as she can. She doesn't take back-talk, and won't accept flak from someone she deems less worthy than herself. Harsh and blunt, Ballari sometimes spews out hateful words that aren't always accepted very well on the receiving ends. Ruthless, when she puts her mind to doing something, it gets done - even if the way it gets done in isn't the best option. A good strategist, Ballari can adapt well to any circumstance. Disciplined, Ballari was taught well by her mentors, and she doesn't back down from what she knows is right. Stubborn as a mule, once Ballari sets her mind to doing something, nothing will make her back down. Ballari will stop at nothing until her plans succeed, and if she is put off from doing something, her fury will erupt. Easily-angered and immovable, Ballari will snap when she's ticked. Trust me when I tell you that you don't want to be anywhere near her when she's having a hissy fit.
Ballari is passionate about her work, and is great at what she does. With a great work ethic, you'll never find her slacking off or goofing around. She can't stand to sit still, and will do quite literally anything to keep from sluffing around without any purpose behind her actions. Because she often gets bored, she'll amuse herself with her dark sense of humor. She finds the most morbid things amusing, and adores authors like Edgar A. Poe. The reason for her getting bored so often is her strictness with herself. While she's rather hard on others, it's arguable that she's even harder on herself. She demands perfection from others, but she sets the bar nearly impossibly high for herself to reach. If she's not doing something productive with her life, she counts her entire being as a failure. And who would want to live knowing that they are a failure day in and day out? This is why Ballari is so determined and dedicated to her work and to not slacking off. Slackers are losers, losers are worthless, and Ballari will NOT be thought of as worthless.
Isolated, Ballari isn't in any position to make friends quickly, not that she'd want to. She's fine being on her own, and doesn't really crave companionship as other RPWs might. Her loneliness only serves to make her more cruel, however, as with nothing to emulate, she has no role models to look up to so that she might improve her behavior and set of standards and morals not only for herself but for others as well. This isolation has created in her such a personality as to be alienating, so that even when she does have to deal with socializing, she tends to push others away instead of draw them in.
Ballari is a hurt individual, only seeking solace for the strong emotions she feels from a day-to-day basis. A master at deception, Ballari has even fooled herself into thinking that she's a happy, pleased soul. Until she finds no remorse within her heart, she will never be truly happy, and until that day comes, she will remain an assassin, bent on ridding the world of an evil she wishes didn't exist.
Relationships:BronxSemi-FriendBallari's not thick, so she knows perfectly well how Bronx feels about her. He's not exactly the best at hiding his true intentions. She, however, chooses to ignore him for a vast many reasons: she doesn't feel a relationship will add anything to her life; she'd have to worry about someone in her organization finding out and wanting to harm him for knowing too much; she's perfectly content having him as somewhat of a friend. Before he made his intentions known, Ballari would easily have counted him as one of her very few friends...but after he started flirting with her, Ballari honestly lost a lot of the trust she'd put in him before, as she wondered if anything was ever real between the two of them, or if Bronx was just trying to get closer to her so that he'd be able to make his move later on. She doesn't hate him at all, and will still enjoy being in his company - as much as she can enjoy being around any lovesick dude, anyway - but she really isn't sure if she still trusts him or not.
Thackary(Belongs to booklover789)
Best FriendThackary is very much like her mother in the aspect that she is both brave and courageous, and doesn't think twice about doing something for the betterment of another. Unlike her mother, however, Thackary never appears weak and rather talks back to whomever it is who is ordering her around when she doesn't agree. She can be viewed as disrespectful from time to time, but she ultimately does do what needs to be done, and Caspian does understand that Thackary isn't really disrespectful - this is just how others incorrectly view her. With a fire in her chest and determination in her soul, Thackary was born to be on the ocean. For these reasons, Caspian chose her for the role of Able Seaman.
Thackary is a double-agent, working both for Caspian on his ship as an Able Seaman and with Ballari with her organization. Basically her only friend in the world, Ballari trusts Thackary with her whole life. The little pup may be small, but she's quick to teach and eager to learn. Ballari has personally taken Thackary under her arm and has decided to teach the pup all the things she needs to know about working for such an organization as Ballari does. Ballari is an experienced assassin - Thackary is a newbie double-agent. Together, they make the perfect mentor-student team.
Tamarisk(Belongs to Firedancer77)
PupilMeet Tamarisk (previously Officer), who is my newest girl to join my pack! She's an assassin-in-training, and is very determined and stubborn. She's also rather emotional and guilty of the deaths she's caused, although she gets over this guilt when taught not to think about it....Tamarisk is a girl who doesn't like to be messed with. She is rather stubborn when it comes to her opinion, and once she makes her mind up to something she will be as solid as a rock, and it will take quite a bit to change her mind on the matter. She is also quite determined, which can lead into her stubbornness....Tamarisk is also rather emotional, and has a lot of trouble keeping her head straight when she is extremely angry or upset....Tamarisk is quick too, and this isn't meant physically. When her emotions don't cloud her judgement, she makes fast, logical decisions, although she does make fast decisions when they do cloud her judgement too....When faced with the fact that she did something wrong...she will generally have extreme feelings of guilt eat away at her....Being told that she did the right thing has the opposite effect, of course, and often gives her even more confidence, although multiple wolves will have to tell her she did the right thing in order to make her believe it if somebody told her she was wrong.
Tamarisk is one of Ballari's few students. Ballari has struggled to keep Tamarisk under her paws for awhile now, thanks to the stubbornness of the young one. She's often rash, and once she gets something into that head of hers, she won't listen to reason. When the young pup does get along well with Ballari, they don't have any issues - but thanks to Tamarisk's daring personality, Ballari often has trouble keeping her under wraps.
Mufon(Belongs to Vox Nihili)
Younger BrotherVox Nihili wrote:Mufon sometimes appears a bit shy and quiet when you first meet him, but when you get to know him much better and he gets comfortable around you, he's actually very kind and friendly! He is most comfortable around his family and friends, which is when he is very lively and exciting. Mu even has a very large imagination and tends to pursue it! A lot of things pique his curiosity, especially the unknown. Mufon tends to take an interest in Science and spooky space aliens... but they aren't real, right? Mu believes so! He has a strange passion for old sci-fi and horror movies from the late 1940's to even the 1980's { which is mostly towards the top end of things he's mainly interested in }. Mu actually really likes old and antique things, but it's not just movies and shows! He also enjoys old music and he tends to like classic rock and sometimes a bit of disco... oops... Mufon usually listens to music from the 1960's or from the 1970's. Oh! Did I mention he collects floppy disks? ...Mufon has a strange obsession with floppy discs! You can't really do much with them now, but Mufon just thinks there so cool because who uses them nowadays? Not many people, lol. He is very passionate about what he's interested in and sometimes even gets a bit carried away.
Ballari loves her brother just as much as her other siblings and family members, but Mufon can sometimes get on her nerves. With his constant yammering about things that are not relevant to her, such as old movies and music, she honestly feels like he just needs to grow up. She'll sit and listen to his constant words, but won't really respond or do anything except stare at him. When she's had enough, she'll stand up and walk away, leaving him to turn to another family member. Ballari loves Mufon on his calm, imaginative days - but when he's obsessing over stupid useless things like floppy disks and horror movies, Ballari is almost embarassed to be around him. She hates how ridiculous he acts sometimes, and how he's so immature for his age - well, that's what Ballari thinks, anyways - and how he's always so upbeat. Ballari can understand if a being is happy sometimes - but it's abnormal to be happy 24-7. Mufon, by that definition, is abnormal, which is yet another reason why Ballari can't bring herself to sit and listen to him yammer on for hours about antiques. She has more important work to do. She loves him very much and appreciates all he's done for her and how he tries to cheer her up, but ultimately, Ballari doesn't spend a ton of time with Mufon for obvious reasons.

Why do I Want Him?Well, as I was looking through the RPW Pound thread, I saw that someone had recently posted a new form. I thought at first it was for an RPW I hadn't seen in the kennels, but then I realized that I was wrong - the person had posted a form for something even better: a new RPW to adopt! Now, there were three in the form, but the first one I felt a real connection to was this little dude, Bronx. This dude just exuded some awesome vibes, and seemed like a tough and tumble guy, bent on pushing himself farther to become better at anything he wanted to do. The fact that I can't see his eyes actually really intrigued me - I still don't know what color his eyes are. That idea really showed that, perhaps, he holds secrets that he won't tell anyone. Perhaps there's more to him than meets the eye. I really like his style - he looks goth and like he'd be really anti-social, but based on the previous idea I had that I just mentioned, I wanted to make him the opposite of what he looked like. I wanted to make him happy and very social, and while he'd be into some pretty bad-ass stuff, that wouldn't just be his entire life. What intrigued me to him in the first place wasn't any of this, however - it was his gorgeous look. I have recently taken a liking to the color grey, and seeing this boy's lovely grey, white, and dark brown coat really sparked something in me. The absolutely adorable little cream accents really do help along his design, and that messy mop of hair is TOTALLY RAD. The bandana, the only real pop of color in his design other than his paint, really compliments both his design and his characterization. For these reasons, I decided to try my hand for this lovely boy.
What Will I do With Him?Well, I've FINALLY completed my
RPW Website, and I'm seriously excited about that. It was a long-time coming.

And, I can now say with confidence that he'll get a spot of his own on there. He'll be a beloved character of mine, as I will sketch and draw him whenever I can (I sketch once a week, and draw less frequently, but when I do have time to draw I'll make some art of him). If I can't draw him personally, I will probably order art of him - I know several people in the RPW community who offer art of other's RPWs, and I'd definitely PM them about art of this gorgeous babe. I love writing, as well, so I'll be writing stories about him and his family and friends, which I hope to do frequently. If there are ever any RPW events, I could probably use him in them as well, as long as he fits into the storyline properly.

After he moved out and became very distant from his parents, the only thing that reminded Bronx of them was the square cloth that he never failed to tie around his neck. Busy during the day, Bronx doesn't usually play until he gets home at night. He has a natural knack for it, and after taking lessons on an acoustic guitar for a few years when he was a kid, he quickly turned to electric guitar. He'd always enjoyed going to rock concerts in his teens, and his favorite instrument had been the electric guitar from that point onward. One day, he was looking through a thrift shop for a pair of wheels for his skateboard when he found a banged-up, older electric guitar. He bought it for a steal, and then tried to play it, when he realized he didn't have the proper equipment to make any sound! The plucked strings just twanged and twinged, try as he might to make music. He then set the electric guitar aside, and a few weeks later went back to the thrift shop to find a few cables he could use. He was still stuck, though - he didn't have a speaker! So, as he was walking down the street one day several months later, he passed by a dumpster. Right at the top was a nearly-new speaker. Why the owner had thrown it out confused and puzzled Bronx, but he didn't mull it over - he was too excited to find such a steal...and he wasn't even out any cash for it! So, he drug the heavy thing home and up the stairs to his apartment. He then hooked it up to the cables, which miraculously fit, and plugged in the guitar to the speaker. He then hooked up the electricity, and played a simple chord. Music rumbled throughout the entire apartment complex. His face lit up with a smile.
From that point onward, Bronx played the electric guitar. Eventually, he earned up enough money by playing the streets and by also playing a few concerts at night to buy proper equipment and fix up the old guitar. He is now quite pleased with how it looks and sounds, and takes very good care of it. By playing concerts and walking around the streets of his city playing music and getting tips, he makes a few extra dollars and gets a wold of experience. He adores his hobby, and wouldn't give it up for anyone or anything.
Occupation:Rock ClimberWhile Bronx started off as - and still is - a skateboard enthusiast, his main priority now is rock climbing. He became somewhat bored and unchallenged by skateboarding once he'd mastered the tricks he'd wanted to learn, and soon was looking for a more challenging thing that would give him a natural high. Bronx looked online, and eventually found a great place to go hiking. He started off doing this, but didn't really like it - it wasn't challenging enough. So, he walked a few hours to a different place, far outside his city's limits, and found a new mountain. Instead of hiking it, he decided he'd try to climb it. He was successful, but it was still too easy. He then asked around, and found out that there were some massive, huge, rocks nearby where he'd been climbing the mountain earlier that week. He then set out to find this supposed huge rock formation.
He was not disappointed.
When he saw the massive pale brown rocks, towering into the sky, his heart soared with anticipation. He was ready for the challenge.
Medical Issue(s):- Scars. Bronx has a few scars, but nothing major. The largest scar he has is on his right back leg from a kneecap replacement. He only has two other scars - one on his right front leg from a small rock climbing accident in his childhood and one on his right ear from that same rock climbing accident. The one on his ear isn't technically a scar, but rather a scar and a chunk, as there's a portion of his ear that's actually missing thanks to him falling into a crevice and trying to squeeze his way out.
- Transient Insomnia. Bronx has a pretty bad case of insomnia. Now, he's not unable to sleep for longer than a week at most, but he does deal with a good three or four days every week that he has trouble sleeping. It's not the same three to four days every single week, which is why it's insomnia and not some other issue causing the sleep deprivation. While he might be sleepy a lot, he is grateful he doesn't have any worse medical issues.

Long Personality:It doesn't really matter what Bronx is doing - you'll know exactly what it is. He's extremely obvious in everything he does, from something as non-confrontational as playing guitar to something as pivotal as flirting. Because of this obviousness, he can sometimes come across as really pushy. He's oblivious to all of this, and really doesn't realize he's doing it. If someone were to tell him that he was doing this, he honestly wouldn't believe them unless the being were to give him absolute proof of his doing it, as if he doesn't believe he's done it, he probably won't ever believe he's done it. It's just how he is - it takes a lot of research and study on Bronx's part to formulate an opinion, but once he has an idea formed in his head, there's no going back unless you can show him substantial proof to prove him wrong.
Bronx is not as depressed or morbid as he might appear - yes, he'll get those moments and days where he'll feel like a truck ran him over a few times, but he really isn't as gothic as others like to label him as being. He loves his long hair - it protects his sensitive eyes from the sun and wind. He doesn't wear his hair like that because he doesn't want to be bothered by the world - he wears it for the sake of convenience.
In reality, instead of being depressed, Bronx is effervescent. Vivacious and energetic, Bronx knows he has to let out his energy in some way, and this is exactly what he does through his active lifestyle. Active to a fault, he doesn't like to sit for long periods of time. He hates being indoors for too long, and will get antsy if he's not allowed to roam about. He is friendly and loves to socialize, but his mouth tends to spew out sentence not very well thought through, so he doesn't have many friends. The few he does have he treasures and cherishes, and adores each and every one of them very much.
Bronx is not the most careful pup around. Because this spirited RPW is so active, he often leaps before he looks, and usually comes crashing down on someone else! He isn't a klutz, but he isn't graceful, either. He just needs to work on figuring stuff out before he rushes into a situation.
Good-looking, Bronx seems to attract EVERYBODY - and not as friends. He unfortunately is hit on and flirted with more frequently than he'd prefer, seeing as his crush is the only one he's even somewhat interested in dating, and really hates it when others won't take the hints he gives out to try to push them away gently. He usually ends up just leaving them alone, hoping that they won't stalk him or come to hate him at a later date.
Bronx is not argumentative by nature, and would rather walk away than start a fight. While he's not against sticking up for himself if the time is right, he won't voluntarily choose to respond to something by lashing out at others. He prefers the tactic of just walking off, as if you walk away, you aren't held responsible and you also won't be looked at weird for starting a fight over something pointless. He doesn't like to argue with others, but if he knows his opinion is right and someone keeps nagging at him to change it, he will retaliate - though never physically. The only battles he ever participates in are verbal, as he wouldn't dream of hurting anyone without a good reason.
Dependable, if Bronx is your friend, you won't have to ever worry about letting you down. Sure, he can be late and his timeliness is absolutely horrendous, but he will eventually show up and be there for whatever it is you wanted him to be present for. He procrastinates, and puts things off, so when he finally does get around to them, he has very little time to put towards them. But, rest assured - he won't leave you hanging. Perhaps the quality of his work won't be the best, but he WILL complete the job, guaranteed.
Relationships:BallariCrushBronx is head-over-heels in love with Ballari. However, knowing her tenacious and harsh personality comes at a disadvantage, unfortunately - Bronx knows that if he confesses his true feelings for her, she'd reject him on the spot...or worse. So, for now, he's told himself that he's alright with being one of Ballari's few friends and confidants - but in reality, he just wants to tell her how he feels more than anything else in the world. He admires her, and knows that she would be a perfect mate for him, if she'd ever pay attention to his attempts to flirt with her. He's slowly taking little steps to tell her how he feels, but he knows he's got to be careful - falling in love with an assassin isn't exactly easy water to tread.
Thackary(Belongs to booklover789)
AcquaintanceThackary is very much like her mother in the aspect that she is both brave and courageous, and doesn't think twice about doing something for the betterment of another.
Seeing as Thackary is Ballari's sidekick - or, that's how Bronx thinks of her - he isn't sure how he feels about her betrayal. Bronx doesn't trust Thackary, as he's not sure where her loyalties lie - is she loyal to Ballari, or is she loyal to Caspian? He doesn't know a lot about the situation thanks to Ballari's very confidential and you-are-on-a-need-to-know-basis job, but what he does know of the situation makes him very uneasy around Thackary, as he's not sure how to trust her, or even if she SHOULD trust her. He doesn't dislike the pup at all - he's just very uneasy around her.

Questionnaire:How do you vent your anger? I go out and climb rocks - as high as I can go. The higher up I am, the more my head clears and the easier it is for me to calm myself down.Do you have a collection of anything? I collect electric guitars. They're AWESOME.What's a sound you hate? What's a sound you love? I absolutely hate the sound of a poorly-tuned guitar. It really doesn't take too much skill to properly tune one, and one that's out of tune just really irks me because it's easy to fix, and is just honesty or inexperience on the part of the owner of the guitar. I love the sound of wind just as much as I love the sound of guitars. Both just give me this peace inside, and they help me calm my anxiety and fears.Smell the air. What do you smell? I'm in the park right now, so I smell hotdogs and water from the nearby fountain. What's the worst place you have ever been to? I really hated Florida - if you've never been there in the summertime, you will never know what hell feels like. What's the worst injury you've ever had? When I was younger and still learning how to ride a skateboard, I tried to jump down a staircase on one, and...I ended up shattering my right back knee. It was so badly damaged that I had to have surgery to replace the kneecap with an artificial one. I like to joke around that I'm part robot, but it's true - I only have three real kneecaps. What is your astrological sign? I'm a WIP.What would you want to be written on your tombstone? Here lies Bronx, an RPW just as awesome as city, and with just as much life and love to give to everyone he met.Ever been on a plane? Yeah - when I went down to Florida I had to do so by plane. I don't hate air travel, or anything, it just wasn't the best experience because of all the turbulence.
Short Story:Her eyes snapped open. The wind ruffled her cloak. She stood atop the roof, dressed in black from ears to tail. She scanned the sleeping city below, and watched one apartment in particular.
The lights flicked off.
That was her cue.
Bronx yawned, flipping the light off. He poured himself a glass of milk, drank it, and then looked at the clock. "Three in the morning. Better take advantage of such a good night," he murmured, crawling into bed.
Ballari leapt from the rooftop into an open window, less than three doors down from her target. She stealthily crept through the house, focused on the door. When an RPW stirred in the bed, she froze. When the tired young one rolled over and started snoring again, Ballari moved as quickly as she could. She'd nearly made it to the door when she caught something glittering in the moonlight. She looked over, and saw a beautiful necklace atop a dresser. She smiled, grabbed it, and slipped it over her neck. She then raced out of the house and down the hall, quickly reaching room #407. Using her skills, she picked the lock with ease and burst into the room.
Bronx dreamed he was being attacked. It wasn't pleasant.
Ballari stared down at the sleeping RPW, rolling in his sleep. She then turned her back on him, searching his house for the possession she knew he had. She frowned. It should have been right underneath the clock, but the ring was no where to be found. She looked in the kitchen and the office, and still couldn't find anything.
Bronx awoke, mumbling in anger about his stupid dream waking him from a great night's sleep. He stumbled to the kitchen, flipped on a light, and got some water.
Ballari froze. The light in the other room had just flicked on. Her mind screamed at her.
ABORT MISSION!Bronx looked around, feeling as if he were being watched. He finished the drink and put it in the sink, creeping out of the kitchen as he spoke. "Either I'm sleep deprived and seeing things, or one of my light-bulbs has gone missing."
Ballari internally slapped herself.
YOU IDIOT. You didn't think he'd notice a missing light?Bronx was smart enough to know that when he reached his paws up to feel the empty socket, he wasn't dreaming. He locked the front door and every window, grabbed a flashlight, and went off in search of whoever had broken in.
Ballari had to act quickly. She spotted a window and raced over to it.
It wouldn't budge.
Bronx flipped on the light.
Ballari spun around.
He blinked-not that anyone would know under that mop of hair. "Hi," he said calmly. "What are you doing in my house?"
Ballari slowly started to inch forward.
Bronx flipped on the flashlight, shining it directly in Ballari's eyes.
She did a flip over Bronx, landing on the other side of him. She then hit him on the head, making him pass out. She bolted for the closest window.
It was locked.
All the other windows were as well.
She turned her gaze to the door. "Piece of cake," she said, smirking. She raced forward. The impact made the wood shatter into a million pieces. She raced off, but before doing so, she picked up the doorknob which had flown off, stuffing it into her satchel. By the time Bronx awoke, she was long gone.
Bronx didn't bother fixing the door.
The next night, she showed up again.
This time, Bronx was waiting. The moment she stepped into the doorway, he flicked the light on. "Hello again, cat burglar."
"Not a cat," she said, a voice distorter making her normally-silky voice pitch and undulate. "Not breaking and entering."
"You did last time."
"Didn't break. Only entered."
Bronx flicked the hair out of his eyes. They were narrowed. He trotted over, getting very close to her. "Who are you, really?"
Ballari turned and bolted.
Before she had time to race out, Bronx wrapped his paws around her neck.
She bolted off with him hanging on.
After jumping off of literally every building within a mile radius around this dude's house, Bronx still hadn't let go of Ballari, and continued to scream at her. "WHO ARE YOU AND WHAT DID YOU WANT TO STEAL FROM ME?!"
Ballari tried everything she could think of to dislodge him.
Nothing worked...until she rolled over.
Bronx was trapped between her and the hard tiles of the roof digging into his back. He let go immediately.
Ballari rolled back over and kicked him in the gut. "Don't ever do something stupid like that again," she snapped at him, turning away.
He managed to reach up and grab her mask, pulling it off of her face.
She'd turned just in time so that he didn't see her, and kicked her back legs at his face. Impact was eminent, and quite painful for the boy, but she didn't care. She leapt off of the roof and landed on the ground, racing off into the night.
Two nights later, Bronx tried again. He sat atop the roof of his apartment building. He'd gotten a new and better door installed, and his insurance even paid for it after reviewing the security footage from a camera in the hallway. He knew that the RPW would come back, so he waited. He wanted answers.
Soon enough, she landed on the very roof where he was perched. She'd wrapped her cloak around her face so only her eyes could be seen. "Why did you wait for me?" she asked, voice normal without the modulator in her mask.
"I wanted to know who you were and what I had that was so valuable to you."
"Your neighbors have some rather pricey items."
Bronx shifted his weight, and a lamp atop the building shone on his right paw, illuminating a ring. "You sure you weren't looking for this?"
Ballari stared at him, unwilling to speak.
"How did you know I had this?"
She didn't say word, and stood very still.
"Who are you, anyway?"
"I am the assassin."
Bronx blanched. "Uh...what?"
"I kill others. It's my job."
He gulped, suddenly not feeling so brave. "You're not here to finish me off...right?"
"I want that ring. Maybe we can work out a deal."
His eyes widened. "No...I can't give you this."
"It'll guarantee your life."
"Life is never a guarantee." He paused before continuing. "My mother gave this to me to give to my future bride." He smirked. "You interested?"
"In the ring."
Suddenly, the entire rooftop was illuminated with light. A helicopter had found them out.
Ballari bolted, purposely dropping a note.
The helicopter tried to follow her darting movements as she leapt from roof to roof, eventually leaping down and skirting her way through the winding streets.
Bronx trotted over to the note and picked it up. He read it aloud. "You want answers? Come and get them."
And so their story began.
