Sam nodded and watched Maplestar pick up a pinecone then set it down. He watched saying, 'okay' after every time she spoke.

" now all you need to do is try to kill it" she said , " how would you ..." She paused , pricking up her ears , " what , what was that " she stopped again, scenting the air , " Sam, tell me what you smell " { it's Le wolf cub }

Sam listened to Maplestar, anxiously. Then a flash of panic filled the she-cat's eyes, as her ears started to prick up. Maplestar now was alert. "Umm.. uh." Sam wasn't used to any of these new forest smells, but he sensed the need so he stuck his nose out. Sam closed his eyes and sniffed. "I smell.. I smell.." He paused as a breeze floated softly by, and his nose picked up a unfamiliar, sour scent. "I smell.. not cat." He stated. "Something wild?" He guessed. Sam opened his eyes and met Maplestars gaze.

She scented the air again " that's a wolf " her eyes wide she looked worriedly at Sam " should we go , go see ? It's only young , I can tell , it could be injured and nearly dead ? We could even get some food " she paused

Sam hesitated, seeing the worry in the older cat's eyes. "Why are you asking me?" He spat. "Your the leader!" Sam looked around. He didn't see the thing, but maybe.... it saw them? Then, Sam began to worry also, panic flashed in his eyes. "Remember," he began. "I'm only a 'kitty-pet'!" He mocked everyone who had said that.
