This week's theme is...


An original character can be anything... from your 'everyday' human to a bipedal warthog from outer space. Creating a character is boundless and limitless; you can make them as original as you'd like. Perhaps one of the most unique challenges presented to authors is deciding where their character lives; designing a world that seems as realistic to the reader as it does to the character that lives in it. Suzanne Collins did it with Panem; though it was once our earth of today, Katniss's world as she knew it was very different from our own. Orson Scott Card did it in his Enderverse series; he created planets like Lusitania and the Path for both his humans and his fictional creatures to inhabit. In Alice in Wonderland, Lewis Carroll created an entirely different world for Alice's adventures, complete with dozens of unique creatures, both flora and fauna.

While some characters have no need for any sort of special world or planet of their own, it can be fun to create a character that does merit designing a new world. Imagine a giant wyrm-like creature living out its happy and harmless life on planet earth. That would be...difficult to picture. This week, I want to hear all about your world-building! Do you have any characters that do not live in 'our' world? Do all of your characters live in the same place - a place of your own creation? Are any of your characters from different planets now living on earth? It's a difficult question to address... world-building can take time! But it's a must-know if you wish to have a fully-developed character!

Any discussion, questions concerning, and sharing of characters related to worlds other than our own is highly encouraged this week!

Honestly, many many many of my characters do not live on earth! There are a few I based enough where it wouldn't make a lot of sense to put them elsewhere, but many of mine have a set development in a strange place I like to call...
Emoria
You see, Emoria is a world I have put extremely heavy development into, as attempting to develop from earth cities/countries/cultures just didn't work as well as I'd like! Emoria even has an entire planetary design, pulled from a map generator after having a finicky pick through ones that just didn't fit. But there's so much more than geography to this place. Emoria even has its own widespread language; called Lzuritan. The land itself is split between magic users and technology users; the art of magic flourishes in simple civilizations; and wondrous technology was built from the places that focused less on magic. The world is far from perfect; the mainly developed city, called Aliyonne, of one of the larger countries (no name yet), is much like any normal large city you'd find on earth; with some dirtier industrial bits, cookie-cutter suburbs, and slums.
All of my kias live on this world, though this means their stories jar badly with other peoples kias and makes RP'ing impossible even if I wanted to try; unless a AU where my kias live in the earth world, is formed! This allows things like a land much like old china, jungle tribes untainted by civilization, and mysterious magic swamplands; to flourish.
Emoria's creation also allows for an intense creation spree of unique flora and fauna to my liking; as well as monuments, mountain ranges, islands, and volcanoes as I desire. It really is a fun pastime of mine, creating and developing this world~
