OK, I know I'm a bit late with this, but I've started finishing up my theories to Volume 4.
(This has literally taken me 2 1/2 hours to write down! It has taken a lot of editing and rephrasing...)
First off, I think Qrow will convince Atlas to get Yang a robotic arm for a reduced price. I get a vibe from Qrow that says he is very close to his nieces, and with Atlas being a close, rich friend of his, he just might be able to pull something off for Yang. Next, I think that team RWBY will be the next generation of maidens. It is my personal belief that Ruby will be the Summer Maiden, Weiss will be the Winter Maiden, Blake will be the Fall Maiden, and Yang will become the Spring Maiden.
Now, this next theory is kind of huge, and I have been thinking about it a LOT. It's going to require a good quantity of evidence, so bear with me.
Do you remember the last little bit of Volume 3 Episode 12? Ya know, the part with the scary lady? Well, I'm just going to put it out there. I think that is Summer Rose, and I also think that she is the current Summer Maiden. Now let's think about this for a minute. Summer Rose went missing. They never said that they had a body, correct? And now, if Cinder was going to find the Fall Maiden (and what she looks like), then she'll need some sort of source. It would make sense that all of the Maidens knew each other, as well as where to find each other in case of an emergency.
Now, if this is Summer Rose, then what effect will this have on Ruby?
Well, it is to my belief that either Ruby will be convinced by Summer to join the evil side, and will later be re-convinced by her friends that this isn't her path, OR Ruby will fight Summer and win. Thus, Summer is thinking about how her daughter had betrayed her. Summer will die, and Ruby will become the next Summer Maiden. And hopefully a good one.
The rest of team rRWBY is just as complicated, don't worry.
Cinder. Let's talk about that little she devil for a minute. Why would Cinder only want the Fall Maiden's powers when she has the capability to collect them all?
See now, I think that Cinder will kill the Winter and Spring Maidens, but will not gain their powers. Remember that spider thing? Maybe team RWBY will come save the Maidens from Cinder. It will, however, be too late. Cinder will have injured them too severely, and they will die thinking of the girls of whom had attempted to rescue them.
OK, now while i 'be been saying 'team RWBY, I have really been referring to Ruby, Weiss, and Yang, since Blake has run off. Where has Blake been? My guess is that she was keeping Adam away from her friends. But while Yang and Weiss are attempting to preserve the Maidens' lives, Ruby is fighting Cinder. Say Ruby looses the fight, and Blake steps in the kill Cinder while she [Cinder] is not paying attention. Now CINDER will be thinking of the person who killed her, of whom is Blake.
Blake now has the power to defeat Adam, but will she do it? No. I have a feeling that deep down, Blake still loves Adam as a friend. So, I guess Adam will get away this time, and there is no way that we will not be seeing him later on.
So, he'll gear up, maybe find his own powers, although it will likely just be dust. He'll fight Blake again, and likely loose. But maybe before this fight, Adam decides to kill off some more innocent people. And say Blake finds out about this. Now this time, she will still probably be unable to kill Adam. So, she instead has him arrested in Atlas. We're likely to see him in future volumes, but not volume 4.
In fact, a lot of these theories could be past volume 4, but I still believe that they will show up somewhere in future RWBY episodes.
And one last thing, mixed within the Volume 4 Episode 12 credits. Qrow can polymorph. Yeah, I kind of already knew that, but I'm thinking about an alternative to Blake receiving the Fall Maiden powers. Say Blake is not the one who saves RWBY, and it is instead Qrow. Now, because Qrow is of the male gender, he can not receive Cinder's powers. So now Cinder's thoughts are - some how - directed back to Blake. That's one of quite a few alternatives that I have.
My last two theories have to relate to Pyrrha and Ozpin.
The very start of Volume 3 Episode 1 has a scene with Ozpin and Cinder fighting. A minute or so later, Cinder is flying up the elevator shaft, and Ozpin is nowhere to be seen. So does that mean he is dead?
Nope. Oz is definitely not dead. Because now we have skipped a few months, and our supposed Summer Rose is now talking to Ozpin himself. This can mean two things. Ozpin is alive, and hiding somewhere (we will come back to this later to discuss Pyrrha) or he [Ozpin] has been captured by Cinder and sent through a portal of some sort to Summer. Now Summer has Ozpin and she is speaking to him directly. So when Ruby kills Summer, does that mean Oz will get to go free? I don't honestly know about that one. There are a lot of options in there.
Pyrrha. Our poor, poor Pyrrha is supposedly dead. But hey, there are always opportunities. This can go four ways.
The first path leads us to Jaune. Pyrrha used her aura to unlock his, so now they are connected by aura. Now say Jaune finds a way to revive Pyrrha using their connected aura and her [pyrrha's] crown. Not much to say about this one, other than the fact that this is no easy task. Who knows what kind of dark magic might be involved! ☺
Our next path heads straight through Emeraldville. Somewhere in the middle of Volume 3 Episode 12, Emerald said that she had felt remorse over killing so many innocent people. If this is true, then there is the chance that Emerald had made an illusion to trick Cinder, and save Pyrrha. How'd she know about how Cinder would react? Pretty simple. Emerald has been in many battles long side Cinder. She knows how Cinder operates, and knows what her [Cinder's] bow does as well. But how could Emerald know that Ruby was running up the tower? Also pretty easy. Emerald had to have been somewhat close to Cinder and Pyrrha to create the illusion. She was probably just at an angle of which she could see Ruby running up the side of the tower.
And now, we have our excaped Ozpin. So maybe HE was the one to create the illusion and same Pyrrha? She is his Fall Maiden after all. So now while team RWBY, Qrow, and the remainder of team JNPR are fighting for their lives, Pyrrha and Ozpin are hiding somewhere, with Ozpin training Pyrrha to become the best warrior he can make her.
Last, but certainly not least, we have our most tragic of options. Pyrrha and Ozpin are BOTH in the clutches of Summer Rose. Sure, RWBY can hop right in and save them, and everything will be all fine and dandy! No. Just, no. Don't listen to that; it was sarcasm. It will likely take Ruby MULTIPLE volumes to get to the point where she kills Summer Rose. I'm not saying it will be the last Volume of the series, but just.. Beyond volume five at bare minimum.
The most tragic part of this theory, is that it is most likely to be true. Maybe Emerald did create that illusion, but didn't betray Cinder. Emerald could have pretended to rescue Pyrrha, but with it being a trap.
Now with Ozpin captured, Summer and Cinder have (almost) nobody of whom can get in their way.
And with Pyrrha captured as well, there will be (supposedly) nobody to steal Cinder's Fall Maiden-ness.
