What were they doing? The three of them were arguing over what? Nonsense. Dewpaw had enough, and was growing more volatile every moment. "So let him get trampled instead? Then if that's the case, then you should've let me drown! It was my mouse-brained mistake anyway, so you should've just stayed dry so that you wouldn't have to put yourself at risk for dying." She snapped, the fur along her spine spiking up. She didn't fight her voice, and let it rise. At this point, she didn't care about hunting anymore; it's not like she'd be calm enough to catch anything anyway.

The tabby tom turned towards the she-cat with blazing green eyes. ''Don't you understand what self serving means? It was his own mistake, and I wasn't going to risk myself in a situation where I wouldn't be able to make a difference anyways. Let's face it, I wouldn't have been able to do anymore to that deer than a mouse could do to one of us,'' Cedarpaw mewed indifferently. ''You misunderstand me, Dewpaw. I do not fear dying, I fear living with no quality of life,'' the tom knew that he could have been injured so badly that he'd have to live as an elder for the rest of his life. The sharp hooves of the deer would be able to easily break his bones. ''The worst that I could get from diving into the water was a cough,'' he pointed out. ''Besides, I might be fond enough of you to jump into the river, but I'm not fond enough of Foxpaw to get trampled over his own bad decision. There was a difference in what you did. It's not like you purposely fell into the river. He purposely latched onto a deer like a common dog.''

Why do you always have to prove me wrong? It was a quality of his that drove her insane. "I guess I don't understand." She choked, whiskers quivering. She had barely noticed Foxpaw go off and catch something. She turned and brushed past the tabby, her tail whisking back and forth. She preceded a few steps, before stopping. Where do I even think I'm going? She thought. She just didn't want to be so close to Cedarpaw.

The tom flattened his striped pelt, but he was still riled up about the whole thing. It seemed like the grey and white she-cat would always pick Foxpaw's side, no matter what the argument was about. That made him feel a kind of resentment that he wasn't used to. Hah, maybe it's because I was abandoned by my parents. That might be something that you'd need to work out in kithood. Frosttail tries the best he can to be a father figure, but I know that it's different, Cedarpaw bemused darkly as he looked around the surrounding forest for any prey that was moving about. Maybe it's because I haven't really had anything to compete over before. Is that what Foxpaw is? Competition for Dewpaw's camaraderie? ''It's pretty easy to understand if you try. You managed to understand Foxpaw,'' the tabby said with accusation filling his voice. He fidgeted around uneasily because he hadn't meant for it to come out that way.

She nodded. "I will make sure to send out a patrol to make sure the kittypet is off of our territory." her mind instantly went to Mark. What if it was him? She looked at Sandclaw, pushing the thought aside. "Anything else?"

She didn't look back while there was silence. Why am I letting him get to me? I'm not used to being this close to someone. She had to admit, after the death of her parents, she stayed away from others, only reaching out to Foxpaw because she almost found it to be necessary. She turned her head to Cedarpaw at his words, eyes narrowed. "And what is that supposed to mean? I've known Foxpaw for longer so yeah I would be able to understand him." He is also a lot easier to understand than you! She decided to keep those words to herself. Why is he so obsessed with Foxpaw? What did Foxpaw ever do to him?
