Ash nodded and began walking as well, keeping pace with Alex. He occasionally glanced down at Alex to see how he was faring in the heat, and was worried to see how much Alex was sweating. Not even Ash was perspirating as much, and given the fact that Alex was weak already, he probably couldn't afford to be losing so much fluid.

In response to Alex's question, Ash said, "I'm not doing too good, either. Thick fur is good in the mountains, but not so much out here." As time went on and they walked further, Ash continued to make quick, almost awkward steps in his attempt to not burn the soles of his feet. "This ground is so hot, too. It's almost burning my feet to walk on it," he explained.

Alex looked down at Ash's feet, or paws. He forgot that he couldn't cram his paws in shoes like most of the other hybrids here. Alex was still wearing a pair of shoes he's had for a few years now, the soles almost worn through making a hole. Alex then glanced around them to see if there was anything he could do to help out Ash, if there was something he could use to help out his paws.

There seemed to be nothing around them, but of they happen to catch one of the animals that roam around here they can get the meat for food and the skin for some shoes for Ash. "I'm s-sorry, I wish there was something I could d-do to help" he said quietly, looking down at the ground in front of him. "If y-you need to run a-ahead to make it q-quicker that's fine. Or if w-we need to stop that's o-okay too"

Izzy bit her lip in frustration at her father's rudeness and bossy demeanor. She was sick and tired of her father making decisions for her and treating her like a child. She was a grown woman now, and should be treated as such. Izzy was even starting to best her father in certain areas of science.

With a sigh, Izzy flipped her hair behind her head and began to keep climbing up. Yes, she was a dedicated scientist, but she couldn't help but want to go off and do things on her own. Currently she was free until the next dome hybrid patient came in. That could be a day or two, depending on how far the dome hybrid was and how skilled the hunters were. Nakai must have been a really good hunter to have her dad "promote" him to helping her. Who knows, maybe she'll get something out of the arrangement instead of bored glances and silence. Maybe she would test him in different ways while he watched her; both physically and mentally. As Izzy continued to climb, she decided it might not be so bad after all.

Ernest raised an eyebrow at Nakai's question. The scientist was surprised that the hybrid would ask such a question. He had assumed that Nakai disliked going out into the dome. But maybe he had been mistaken. He himself had never stepped into the dome but there were cameras everywhere that allowed him to survey what was going on.

"Yes, it means you wouldn't be going out in the dome anymore, since protecting my daughter would be your first priority. However, on occasion you can take breaks and step out into the dome for a bit. That is if you do your job well. Now if that is all the questions you have, I suggest you go find my daughter. She is probably in the testing facility gym doing who knows what. Now be gone with you and don't let me down." Ernest tried to shew the young hybrid out the door.

Not caring to see if his daughter's new bodyguard was out the door, Dr. Carter set right back to work. He needed to contact Eva and have her sanitize the holding cells for new group of dome hybrids soon to arrive. He had recently been so busy since the last group that he had forgotten to have it cleaned. Well no more time wasted. Ernest clicked his screen on, typed in Eva's name, then connected their earpieces.

"Eva, I need you to stop what you are doing and go sanitize the holding cells. Once you are done with that, come to my office to have a quick test completed. Over and out." Ernest ended the call, returning right back to the piles of paperwork before him.

Ash quickly shook his head at that. "No, it's fine. We don't need to stop for me." He wasn't just trying to act selfless in rejecting help: as much as his feet were starting to hurt, Ash didn't really want to put shoes on them with the hope that they would toughen over time. He wasn't looking forward to the pain he'd have to endure before the soft pads toughened up, but if he didn't do it they would always be sensitive.

As they walked on, he kept his eyes on the mountains, which barely seemed any closer. He wanted to get there as soon as they could, as they seemed to be the only way to find shade in this wasteland. However, it seemed this desert stretched on for an eternity between them and the peaks; he was starting to doubt they'd get there before a Domestic caught up to them.

Eva jumped a bit as Dr. McCarter's voice suddenly came through her earpiece, as she was very easily startled. She did as he had asked and stopped sorting the papers, then quickly left the room for the holding facilities, tossing the carrot into her small wastebasket as she did so. Once she got to the cages, she got a mop and bucket from the corner and began to clean them out, all the while anxiously pondering what sort of "quick test" Ernest had in mind.

Once she had finished cleaning, she put the bucket and company back in the corner and fast-walked to the scientist's office, cringing with almost every step as her tendons loudly clicked. Upon arrival, she peeked her head into the office nervously, her ears down with fright. "...You wanted to see me, sir?" She called into the room, her voice barely above a whisper.

Nakai simply nodded in response. He would miss the arid Dome, though this position was possibly worth it. Again, of course, he didn't have a choice, whether it was worth it or not. At Dr. McCarter's urging, Nakai got up and left the scientist, uttering a quick "thank you" as he left. He immediately turned down the hall in search of Dr. Izzy.

He followed the man's advice and checked the gym facility first, and was pleased to find the girl in the first place he looked. He approached her and, standing in front of the device she was currently climbing, cleared his throat and curtly explained, "I'm Nakai, the domestic your father has assigned to protect you." He glanced up at the girl and, keeping in mind that she was against this, braced himself for a harsh response.

Natural or Experimental: He is partially both. He was born to be a deer-human hybrid, but he was then tested with fox DNA. His body didn't accept most of the DNA,which is why there is such a small amount present in his body.

Appearance: Zach has a very fawn-like appearance. From his freckle dappled nose to his large, deep brown eyes that glitter when he smiles or laughs, he doesn't hold the harsh appearance like some other hybrids. It has been calculated that by the time he is 20, he will have fully grown antlers and a deer tail, but so far there have been no signs of these changes yet. His skin colour is a light tan. His pin straight hair is an identical brown to his eyes and flops into his eyes sometimes. His hands are smaller than the average man's, almost having a paw shape to them as a reminder than he is part fox as well.
Personality: Again, Zach has more deer traits than he does fox. He is hopelessly shy, even around those who he is close to, and will not speak above a whisper unless forced, which is a major flaw. Although he will attempt to outsmart his opponent if put in severe danger, he would much rather flee from his problems for he is very nervous and anxious. (His personality might change a tad as I'm roleplaying - Zach is a new character of mine made purely for the roleplay, and this is my first ever semi-lit one, so I'm going to try my best!)
History: Zach knew he wasn't wanted from the day he found his feet. His parents were out practically all the time, on business trips, holidays- whatever they could use as an excuse not to be at home, if the cramped, damp apartment could even be referred to by such a warm, loving term. He was found asleep when the apartment was repossessed. He woke to the sound of footsteps in his hideout. They knew there was something different about him and sent him to get tested. It was at this point that Zach doesn't know what happened - only the scientists truly know how he was transported and knocked out.

The sun was scorching, blazing directly onto the teenage hybrid's eyelids. He groggily sat up, ruffling his hands gently through his already ruffled hair, which was damp with sweat. Zach slowly opened his eyes, blinking around about five times before he'd actually adjusted to the light. Cautiously, he shuffled into a cross-legged sitting stance and began to gaze around his surroundings; complete abandonment apart from an odd cacti or some sort of shrub every so often. From what could be seen and heard, nobody had lived here for a great number of years.

"Mhmmff... What is this place?" He gently gently groaned to himself. Why am I here? What did I do? Where am I? What if I get killed?! Zach gently placed a sweaty palm upon his damp forehead. "No... Zachary, don't think of things like that... You're going to be okay..." He whispered to himself, uncrossing his crossed legs and bringing them quickly up to his chest.

Alex nodded softly, and continued at his steady pace. All was fine and dandy till he felt a piercing pain in his side, assuming from his ribs. He stopped walking and immediately moved his left hand to softly cover the area where the pain was coming from. "What the h-heck" he mumbled, looking down at his ribs as if expecting to see something that was causing this sudden sharp pain. What had caused this sudden pain? Were the sedatives from being transferred finally wearing off and the pain was just now hitting him? That had to be it. It's not like he had a bunch of time at the old dome to heal, maybe a week at that.

He took a deep breath, quickly stopping himself once he had inhaled 'bad idea bad idea' he panicked. he slowly breathed out and lifted his head to look over at Ash who had stopped with him. "let's g-go. I'll be f-fine" he said quietly and began walking once again, this time at a slower pace.

"This simply won't do..." Zach gently mumbled to himself. "If you're going to actually survive this...this... Whatever this is, then you need a water source and a food source... If I can even find anything." Zach stood up slowly, lifting his paw-like hand up to his brow in order to shield his eyes slightly from the sun. Gazing round his surroundings once more to check there was nothing he'd missed, it was definite that if he were to sit around feeling sorry for himself he wouldn't survive. He aimlessly began walking, almost praying that he wouldn't find some sort of human life forms. God knows what people are like here... If there are any here, at least. Maybe they all died?

Zach tutted at himself again. "Stop being negative." He scolded himself. "It's no good for you."

"Are you okay?" Ash immediately asked, worried but unsure of what to do. He slowly followed Alex as the boy carried on and insisted he was fine, but still Ash remained worried. Looking up at the mountains again, and once again taking note of how far they were, he figured that at this pace, there was no way they'd get to the mountains on time. And with Alex in pain, it was probably best if they stopped, anyway. "Wait," he said, his voice edged with worry. "I think it'd be better if we just stopped travelling for now. Those mountains are really far away, and what if walking so far only hurts you more?" He hoped that this would be enough to convince Alex to stop; if he insisted on continuing on, Ash wasn't sure if he'd be able to keep him from doing so. He kind of lacked the dominance to attempt to try to persuade someone into doing anything they didn't want to do, and even now he was pushing his limits.

Alex stopped walking and looked back over at Ash. He nodded softly in agreement and glanced around them "Okay, we'll h-have to find somewhere shaded t-to stop for now." he said. But he soon realized there wasn't really anywhere shaded besides the mountains they were walking too. "or at least a s-suitable place to r-rest" he added quietly, moving his hand from his ribs. he was thankful that Ash had suggested to stop, there was no way Alex would be able to make it that far and still be living.

Bae pouted when he heard one of the scientists in his ear piece, letting out a small groan. he huffed when Nakai slipped out of his grip and he turned around. He ignored what Nakai had said and he skipped happily over to Ethan "okay okay! Let's go find these domies" he said with a bright smile. "I'm gonna follow you~" he cooed and stopped his skipping so he was now beside Ethan rather than in front of him. "so lead the way" he added and bowed down with an arm over his stomach and the other outstretched to the empty desert.
