She had to admit; when the Flamewings were conquering Pyrrhia, the fighting was fun. Oh, how she burned and slashed and snapped and slayed. Sandwings, Mudwings, Icewings, you name it and she probably killed it. But sitting outside the entrance to the queen's quarters was probably one of the least interesting jobs of all. It was a rarity that they found someone attempting to sneak in and kill the queen. Though there was one once, a young male of about sixteen years. Very stupid, he tried to get in through the guarded entrance. She had to give him kudos for fighting his hardest, but she took him out with a stab to the throat. She fingered her trusty spear in her talons.
Her head snapped up when she heard claws on stone, and saw the queen herself headed towards the throne room. She half-arsed a bow and grumbled.

Ignis walked into the lab, carrying two buckets of water for Castor's experiments, or for general purposes. He had mastered the art of walking on his hind legs for this sole reason, whenever he had to use both front paws for carrying things.
Ignis was a dreamer, a hopeless romantic. He imagined love, a dragoness that he could fall for. He dreamed up magics, and different worlds that were better than reality. He also wondered about the past lives of the test subjects, whether they were parents or warriors or generals. He sometimes saw them and felt bad for them, but someday the progress of science would be on his wings. At least if he did all his chores and pleased Castor.
The young adult had a strong love for science, but didn't always like how it was carried out. Still, he kept his snout shut and as long as he was quiet, things went well. He waited for another task from Castor.
*or whatever time of day it was.
