- Concept stuff below the dashed lines.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
- Maned (long puffy mane in cold habitats, medium across most of the Earth including tropical environments, shorthair is a rare mutation)
- Semi-arboreal (frequent trees but do not live in them)
- Fully sentient
- Viviparous (live birth)
- Digitigrade
- Retractible claws
- Long, slender-bodied, omnivores (with fruit and insects making up much of their diet)
- Usually have long tails (can vary due to differences in environment, ranging from longhaired to shorthaired)
- Genet similarities
What do they eat? They eat fruits, nuts and seeds, berries, insects, lizards, and aren't particularly fond of small birds or rodents but will eat them if quite hungry with no other option.
Where do they live? Their most saturated population is in wooded areas, such as deciduous and coniferous forests. They can be found in rainforests, but it is much more sparse of a population. It is quite rare for them to be found in the desert, because only shorthaired variations would do well here, and shorthair is a sort of mutation for this species. They do well in tundras and frosty places temperature-wise, but prefer temperate climates as this is where their prey is mainly located.
Do they prefer heat or cold? These fellas prefer cool weather, but since they have a unique form of homeostasis (thin cool fur that is soft as silk fiber), they will do alright in most environments.
Do they shed? They do not shed; though their fur may be thin, it won't be released from the body unless the animal is moving through a body of water or has done some damage to their fur (running through briars, etc)
Do they have a social structure?
