Rules
- Do not claim a Swallokit you do not own as yours.
- As of now, you may own no more than 7 Swallokits (Artists and Staff, please refer to the staff rules, as this is different for you.)
- Do not claim the species as yours.
- Do not trade Swallokits without getting my consent first. I don't want anybody being scammed.
- You may buy Swallokits from one another through offsite currency, so long as the opposing site allows it. YOU MAY NOT USE REAL MONEY TO BUY SWALLOKITS. IF ANYBODY IS FOUND TO BE DOING THIS, ALL SWALLOKITS WILL BE REVOKED, AND YOU WILL BE BANNED FROM THE SPECIES.
- Do not spam the main thread.
- Do not PM an artist to beg for a custom.
- All Tess's rules apply.
- (More rules will be added as the needs come up)
If you break one rule, you will receive a warning. If you break 2 rules, you will be banned from the species for 3 days. If you break 3 rules, you will be temporarily banned from the species (No less than 1 year), and all Swallokits will be revoked. I don't mean to sound harsh, but many of these rules are to prevent this species from being destroyed. I've seen it happen too many times, and I am not prepared to lose a species to something so stupid as people being ignorant.

As Swallokits are not a single type of animal, they fall into their own genus, Felis Hirundinidae, meaning "Cat Swallow". All Swallokits evolved from a common ancestor: The Tigris Leucocephalus, or Tiger Eagle. Many thousands of years of domestication have allowed these creatures to become what they are today. Just remember that all Swallokits were bred from Tiger Eagles far down the line, so this may cause aggression and wild behavior in a select few.
The name "Swallokits" is a derivative of their original name, Swallow Kittens. This name was given to them due to their incredibly small size compared to their ancestor.
While the majority of the Swallokit's anatomy is that of a cat's, there are a few key differences. Rather than having two shoulder blades that connect to the legs and the wings, a Swallokit actually has four shoulder blades. Two, of course are for the legs, but the other two, located just behind the legs', are for the wings. A thin tissue keeps these bones from rubbing against each other, and allows the Swallokit to move and flap its wings freely and comfortably. Another difference is the tailbone. A cat's tail will continue until about 1-2 inches (2-5 cm) away from the tail tip. A Swallokit's tailbone only goes until the end of the tail stump. The feathers on the end of the tail are more like whiskers than anything else, as they allow the Swallokit to sense it's surroundings very easily.
The sense of touch in a Swallokit has been proven to be very sensitive. Tests were performed with a young Swallokit and a pebble-covered walkway. The Swallokit much rather flew than walked, and when they did manage to get it to walk, it mewed sadly, likely meaning that it was either in pain, or sad that it couldn't fly. Either way, they have a decent sense of touch. Swallokits have about the same smell-abilities that cats have. Their two most extravagant features by far are their senses of hearing and sight. A Swallokit can hear for over 1000 feet of its surroundings, and can hear it clearly. Swallokits pick up even the smallest noises, although they do seem to be able to block sounds out fairly proficiently as well. Their sight is that of an eagle's, likely a passed down gene from their ancestors thousands of years ago.
Swallokits, despite having "extra" limbs, are surprisingly resistant to joint problems. They do start to get aches near where their wings connect upon reaching old age, though. Swallokits live upwards of 30 years. Old age issues normally start occurring around 3-6 years before death. Overall, Swallokits are a relatively healthy species. They are prone to few diseases, with the worst one known being cancer (Which is bad, but no animal can avoid it. If it happens, it's not anybody's fault but nature's.)
Very few food items and plants are poisonous to Swallokits, but there are a select few you should keep yours away from such as:
- Roses
- Cacti
- Spider Plants
- Poison Ivy
- Pine needles
- Bananas
- Grapes
- Mints
- Any kind of fake sugar
If ingested, these items can cause serious health problems or even death.
Swallokits are fairly social. They are very sociable with each other, but, similarly to birds, can be wary around humans. Despite this, they make wonderful pets, and are perfect for any kind of home. Be warned that some have been known to be so shy that they will be unwilling to eat near a human. In these cases, give your Swallokit a bowl of food, and leave it alone for 2-3 hours. Certain practices have been known to fix this problem, and it is quite rare for their fear of people to come this far.
Swallokits communicate in many different ways, varying from bird-like chirps, to cat-like growls. Some of the most common noises they are known for is chirping, meowing, purring, chittering, growling, hissing, and yowling. They generally chirp while they are flying, and in a similar manner to cats, the tone and pitch of the chirp determines the meaning (Higher chirps mean they are hungry or sad, mid-tone chirps mean they are happy or are just chirping for the fun of it, and lower chirps mean they are angry or scared). This is also the case for meowing and chittering. Purring means that they are happy or in pain/scared, and growling and hissing mean they are angry, annoyed, or scared. Yowling always means they are lonely or scared. They also communicate through body language. Like cats, when they are angry or frightened, they puff out their chests and their fur fluffs out. Generally, their tail motions mean the same as a cat's tail motions (Up is happy, up slightly is just calm, lowered slightly is annoyed, lazy, or calm, and down completely is angry or scared). On many occasions, they will spread their wings when they are frightened to make them seem much bigger of an enemy. They will also fly away in these cases, but most Swallokits are known to be stubborn when it comes to fighting.
Swallokits are normally a calm species. They prefer not to fight with each other, and fights between them are quite rare. However, when territory becomes involved, the fights can become incredibly vicious. The largest problem is that these fights tend to get taken into the clouds, and if one Swallokit receives even slight wing damage, it's life could be over right then, as it is highly unlikely that a dazed Swallokit will survive a fall from that height. If you see two Swallokits fighting, it is best to immediately call animal control, as it will protect you, and the Swallokits.
Swallokits are natural-born hunters. From their perfect hearing to pinpoint-eyesight, it would be expected that they can hunt with perfect precision. When Swallokits hunt, they have two options. The first option is to hunt on foot. This is simply sit, wait for something to walk in front of them, and then catch and kill it. The more precise of the two is diving. Swallokits can fly at very high speeds, with the highest recorded being 35mph. Using this speed as well as downward momentum, they spot prey from the trees, and then dive at it. The prey almost never escapes this tactic, resulting in feral Swallokits rarely going hungry. Swallokit kittens, or catchlings (Cat hatchlings), are fed by their parents until they are 6 months old. By this time, they can usually hunt on their own, and can eventually start diving once they are a year old, which is when their wings grow in fully.
Swallokits are incredibly playful. Whether it be grabbing your breakfast muffin and flying off with it, or chasing your RC Helicopter around the living room, they are always ready to have fun. They do not run out of energy easily, and they love flying toys (Though they can have just as much fun with string and pompoms) They will play with almost anything they can get their paws on, and due to their non-destructive nature, they will not damage you or your furniture!
When a Swallokit mates with another Swallokit, they are not mated for life. Swallokits can breed as many times as you'd like them to in their lifetime, but they may only mate once every two months. Swallokit litters can range anywhere from 1 - 6 Catchlings, but the largest recorded litter consisted of 12 Catchlings (This is a one in a million occurrence, though. Fun fact, the largest litter of kittens from a cat was 35! Most of them ended up dying sadly :'( ) A Swallokit is considered an adult at 1 year old.
Swallokits can live anywhere with the exclusion of: Deserts, Tundras, Snowy places, anywhere incredibly hot, and anywhere incredibly cold. They prefer areas with trees!Back to Top

Common Traits
These traits are normally found in every Swallokit. Expect most Swallokits to have these! For a Swallokit to be classified as Common, it must only have these traits, no more no less.
- Swallow tail
- Wings
- Small tuft of fur on forehead
(This is the basic line art)
Uncommon Traits
These traits are not rare, but not common either. Expect some Swallokits to have these!
- Chickadee tail
- Minor fur edits
- Hair
- Heterochromia
- Glowing tail virus (GTV: Causes the tail feathers to glow) [Please not that it is only Uncommon for the tail feathers to glow. Fur glowing elsewhere is allowed, as it is an option in designing.]
Rare Traits
These traits are rare. Expect few Swallokits to have these!
- Regular cat tail
- Major fur edits (Not hair as that is an Uncommon trait)
- Forever Fledgling Syndrome (FFS: It's a baby/child forever!)
- Each eye is more than 1 color
- No wings
Very Rare Traits
These traits are exceptionally rare. Expect next to no Swallokits to have these!
- Wild cat tail (Jaguar, leopard, lion, etc.)
- Different wings (i.e Chibi, eagle, bat, etc.)
- Major line edits (Not just the fur! Everything!)
- Black part of eye is not black
- Magic (i.e. Fire-breathing, summons lightning, etc.)
Legendary Traits
These traits are beyond rare. Expect an incredibly low number of Swallokits to have these! Most Legends will have a custom line art!
- Kitsune tails (Nine wild cat tails, with the additional chance of fox tails)
- Custom Lineart
- Solid black eyes
- Custom add-ons
