When i was younger i was addicted to mental illnesses. I used to do a lot of research about it. I just love characters with these features djkghdjg

(in order: from most common issues to less common ones)

Starting off with my hospital gang:

Vix haves sociopathy and psychopathy, both leading him to an instrospect and serious personality. He's always running away from social interactions, even if he doesn't minds beign with Jinx, his sidekick.
Vix also doesn't haves fears or anxieties. He seems to be always tired or bored. Despite the moments he's beign violent or about to kill someone, no one has ever seen his smile.
He's a surgeon and works at Andromeda II, his own hospital that grew to be the biggest in North America. Please, let the psycho doctor work at peace.

- Enjoys listening jazz while murdering

Jinx is the number 1 nurse in Andromeda II.
SHe suffers from bipolarity. from weeks to weeks or months to months she changes her humor drastically, scaring who's not aware of the illness.

- She can do crazy parkour over the buildings
- Also addicted to medicine
- Self harm her left shoulder during the depression phase
- Was created to be a tertiary character and became one of my mains

Thalia
Psychologist, became a doctor to solve her own problem. Also works at Andromeda II.
She hallucinates when alone or feeling lonely, so she keeps an eye collection around to feel observed and control the hallucinations.

Interesting facts:
- The eyes are real
- No one knows about the hallucinations but her
- She tries to solve her own issue everyday by solving other people's problems
- Jinx' older sister

Torch is a pyromaniac. He haves an uncommon satisfaction upon seeing things on fire and lives alone in an abandoned apartment with no mobile so he can spread newspaper on the floor and set everything on fire. Important things are glued on the ceiling.

Interesting facts:
- Thief
- Really charismatic
- He so beautiful but so dusty and burnt by the fire that he looks like a sad hollywood actor

Jy is based on the game journey.
He's a young boy that shares an apartment with Jinx. He suffers from an unknow issue that makes him sit and stare at the nothing for days, maybe months without eating or sleeping. During this state, his mind is travelling in another world, the world of Journey. He dreams he's walking on the dunes, and when he comes back, he's usually sad and quiet.
For beign in that other world for so long, Jy became really iffy about real life and believe this universe we live is a dream and the other world is real. Jinx usually takes care of him like a mother. He thinks everything in our world is just a creation of his mind.

Interesting facts:
- His voice sounds like a flute, much like Puppycat's voice.
- The disturb can be a vatiation of autism

Do you have any space related characters? I dont mean space-themed designs, I mean REAL space? Aliens? Astronauts? Living on a space station, or a different planet? How does it change how they see things?
I've got an alien- in fact whole alien species. I haven't decided what planet they live on but I might make more species to live on their planet. I have an idea for one, but I'll have to think of a couple more.
This is my one of the species, Void, who I've shown before but what the hell xD


If either were to meet a character from 'normal' earth, would they get along, or be hostile towards each other?
Void would probably either fight or flee depending on how it's approached, it can't control its void power so whenever it opens its mouth it makes the void thing which made it an outcast in its species' society so it has been hostile to them (and every other living being) for pretty much its entire existence. The others can control their powers mostly, some might need training, but no amount of training helped Void.

The ? is MYO! There are four of those left and three of the pre designed ones (one, two and four), and the two on the first sheet are both open too. They're all offer-to-adopt, just ask me on dA which currencies I can take for them! I'd love some points, they're top priority; there's this one species I found that I really like but I don't have enough for one. i tend to befriend all sorts of people who deviate from the general norm of "healthy" - probably because i deviate quite a bit myself haha,, anyway - i feel like representation in this area is important and nice when not done for a "oooh (-:< my characters ~*~*insane*~*~ LOL" quirk and treated realistically and respectfully so this is a nice theme !

aidan & avery
they're half-brothers and they're on pretty good terms
aidan has GAD (generalized anxiety disorder) and has medication for it + goes to therapy once a month - he's dealing pretty well currently!
avery has insomnia - as in, won't sleep for days until he starts hallucinating and then just knocks out. right now, he just kind of lets it happens and it takes a toll on his realtionships and life but he's too prideful to ask for help

laine & raine
the twins - they have/had an abusive mother (mostly they got away later in life)
laine developed into having hpd (histrionic personality disorder) and cyclothymia - he isn't receiving any therapy or help because neither him nor the people around him care enough to address anything as an issue. they just think he's dramatic, an attention hog, etc. he's emotionally repressed most memories so that he knows what's happened, but the emotional recognition isn't there
raine, on the other hand, developed severe PTSD and mild depression - they're mostly withdrawn and distract themselves with mechanical work. they also haven't asked for help, mostly because they don't understand that they need it. although currently, in character arc, several people are trying to befriend them and help them out!

summer
she has bpd (borderline personality disorder) and is schizoaffective (schizophrenia and bipolar II) and she doesn't quite know how to deal. actually she doesn't, at all - especially since the universe where she lives applauds displays of anger and aggression despite the fact that every time she snaps, she hurts herself more than others and hates feeling this way

ringer
he's blind and he'll make 80 blind jokes a day just to make other people uncomfortable. he also likes to wear sunglasses and ask to move up to see the board - also to make people uncomfortable. he was blind since birth but possesses the power to detect life so that's a plus. still runs into inanimate objects all the time though (-': he has a cane and a seeing eye dog named toast!

the traveler
they're pretty new so i haven't decided much but i'm pretty sure he's mute! he doesn't really communicate with others often and doesn't care to

i'm pretty sure a lot of my other characters have stuff too but i haven't actually sat down to categorize them or anything!!
most of mental illnesses i've listed i labeled on my characters after i'd had them and wrote/RPd with them for a while and realised that, whoops, they were developing some hell

@hnai: I used to have a lot more mentally unstable characters when I was younger as well; I also loved to do research on mental illnesses, especially because my mom was a psychiatric evaluator and loved to watch shows about that sort of stuff...her fascination rubbed off on me. I actually got the idea for Dink's character after watching a special documentary with her on a lady with MPD/Dissociative Identity Disorder. I also used to have a pyromaniac character, but I like Torch a lot more. His original ref is so cute. I love his anatomy and design. ;v; Thalia's eye collection is creepy as hell... I long for your creativity when it comes to developing my characters. ;v; I never responded to that PM of yours, but if you ever make a movie or a game or anything with your characters and use it commercially, I will be one of the first to buy, I promise you that. It makes me happy that I could be a role model for you when you are one of my own! ;v; I think one of my favorite things about your characters is that most of them are connected in some way or another to each other. Their intricate ties to one another make it more exciting. Anyways, glad I could pick a theme that excites you! I love your illness characters! Looking forward to seeing more from you!

@salinity: I too think it is important for original characters with illnesses to be treated realistically; I'm glad you like the theme! I am always sure to do sufficient research before giving my characters any disability, most especially mental illnesses. Avery and Raine are both very cute characters!

.Psychopathy.
Sol is a psychopath in the sense that he was nurtured to have no emotions. Neglected and forced to watch his siblings die, Sol began accepting horrible things as normal. Being unable to help his siblings or control anything in his earlier life has made him obsessed with controlling and using others to get what he wants in his adult life. Psychopaths don't necessarily actively look for people to hurt- its just that they don't feel anything in doing it. Unfortunately Sol is the extreme case.


.PTSD.
Sarge struggled to show off his skill to the humans, and when he got accepted to the army, his heart soared! He would be a hero!.... or so he thought. Sarge quickly learned the horrible cruelty of war. Stepping on a mine sent pain through his body, and it was that moment that opened Sarge's eyes to how real it all was. Unable to save his human, he quickly began to feel more and more helpless. He was finally abandoned like most of the dogs after the Vietnam war. Sarge was lucky enough for a family to have found him wandering around. But now, whenever he hears an explosion he goes back to his fight or flight state, and will obsessively bury anything that looks like a grenade. He also hates matches because they smell like homemade bombs.

I really like knowing that there are actually well developed characters with mental illnesses! Not just those "omg my oc is insane and kawaii! teehee!" ocs XD

That aside, i am posting in the CAAA forum to see if any of you still owns characters designed by me! Actually, I deleted almost every image from my computer when I left Chicken Smoothie and I haven't been drawing since then - however after a year I became interested in my old works. (And my english is still trash, I am sorry about that.)

So yeah, my request is, if you have some spare minutes and a character designed by me - message me okay? even if you don't have a character but maybe remember me or just want to talk to me, pm me! I would like to talk to you people!



I hope I didn't break any of CAAA's rules - as I mentioned above I haven't been round lately so I don't know what's up with the forum and community and stuff, you see? So, please please, be patient with me!
