Within a valley live two clans of cats: CypressClan and StreamClan.
CypressClan has lorded over the valley through countless generations.
Since before any cat can remember, CypressClan has been the one
and only clan in the area. While CypressClan ruled over the valley, it
was isolated from all other threats. Loners very rarely ever made
their way past the mountains, the only predators were the occasional
fox or badger, and two-legs being seen anywhere near the territory
was completely unheard of. In addition to that, the valley was almost
always plentiful with food and tragedy rarely struck. Because of all
these factors, CypressClan began to grow soft and relaxed.
Until about six moons ago, that is.

Six moons ago, a ragged group of felines found their way into Cypress
Clan's territory. Several of the cats were injured and all of them were
on the brink of starvation. These cats, numbered at around ten at the
time, claimed to be the lone survivors of another clan called River
Clan that had resided far from the valley. These cats told CypressClan
about how torrential rains flooded their camp and their territory,
sweeping away several of their clan mates and making their territory
mostly uninhabitable.

CypressClan took pity on this small group of cats, and after a full day
of discussion, it was decided that CypressClan's territory would be cut
in half, where a river runs through the middle of the valley. The larger
half of the territory would remain in CypressClan's possession, and the
smaller portion would be given to the remnants of StreamClan so that
they could nurse themselves back to health. The agreement, however,
was that once StreamClan was healthy and able to travel again, that
they would move on and continue their search for a new home. This
gift of a territory was only temporary. At least, it was supposed to be.

It has been six moons since StreamClan gained part of CypressClan's
territory. These newcomers are now fully healed and able to travel,
yet despite many warnings from CypressClan, these 'guests' continue
to lay claim to the supposedly borrowed land, and they are growing
more and more hostile to the former sole inhabitants of the valley.
Will it come to war? Will the Clans agree to share the land permanently?
Only time will tell.

the literate forum, i consider this to be a low-lit roleplay and expect at least a
small paragraph per character. decent spelling and grammar is also required.
four. i would also appreciate it if you would pretty up your posts a bit, and
include at least a 'tag' section with each post. five. all forms and ooc go on
the discussion thread. six. please keep your characters' names somewhat
realistic. seven. you can have an unlimited amount of characters, but please
do not make more than you know you can handle. also, please keep genders
even. eight. drama is encouraged. however, i would like to be notified before
hand. this way we don't have three fox attacks in one day or five different
forbidden romances occurring at the same time or something like that. nine.
keep characters realistic. no power-playing, god-modding, mary/gary- sues, etc.
ten. please remain active. if you do not post for five days, you will be warned.
two more days and you will be kicked. if you are going to be taking an extended
absence, please notify me ahead of time.

The valley is a very large area, surrounded by mountains and split into two portions by a river. The river divides the territory into two sections. The first sections is the large of the two, encompassing nearly two-thirds of the valley. The second sections is only about one-third of the area of the entire territory. The larger section belongs to CypressClan, and the smaller section belongs to RiverClan. The river is rather large and deep, with a strong current, towards the middle of the territory. But towards the ends of the territory, it gets more narrow and shallow. The valley is heavily forested. The majority of the trees are coniferous, meaning there are a lot of pines, firs, and evergreens. There are also regular, deciduous trees, but they are on the flatter expanses of the valley, and closer to the river. On the eastern end of the valley, the river remains wide, but gets shallow and it has a weak current. Here, the river splits off into two forks, before coming back together. The river separates for only about a hundred feet. Because of this, there is a small island like structure that the two clans use for gatherings. There is no moonstone in the valley. The medicine cats simply speak with each other at the gatherings and only confer with StarClan through their dreams.

In CypressClan's territory, the camp is a mostly rocky expanse on the base of one of the mountains that border the valley. There is a very small cliff that juts out from the base of the mountain. This cliff is only about five or six feet tall. On top of the cliff, resides the leaders den. The leaders den is a cleft in the side of the mountain that leads to a small area. The cliff is where the leader addresses the clan from. Under the cliff, is a clearing that is a mix of rock and grass. The medicine cat's den is directly under the Leader's den. In the base of the cliff is another small opening that leads to a large den. The warrior's den is dug out beneath the roots of a large cypress tree. The apprentices den is next to the warrior's den, and it is also dug into the ground. The roof of the den made of branches and leaves latched together with vine. The nursery and elder's dens are side by side as well. On the other side of the camp, across from the warrior's den, is another large cypress tree. Two dens have been dug out on either side beneath the tree's roots. One is for the nursery, and the other for the elder's den.

In RiverClan's portion of the valley, their camp is made farther away from the mountains than CypressClan's camp is. RiverClan's camp is a simple clearing in the forest, this one ringed by coniferous and deciduous trees. The leader's den is currently the base of a large, hollow tree stump. The leader uses this stump to address the clan. Next to the stump, is the tree that used to be connected to it. This fallen tree is hollow as well, and the medicine cat uses this as their den. The warriors currently share a den with the apprentices, as RiverClan is new to the territory and has yet to make or find an apprentice's den. The den shared by the warriors and the apprentices is across the clearing from the leader's den, and it is made out of an old badger warren. Like CypressClan, RiverClan's nursery and elders' den are side by side and dug out beneath the roots of a large deciduous tree.
