Does anyone here watch "My Strange Addiction"? I've decided to watch the Fursuit one and I was wondering if anyone wanted to talk about it, perhaps through PM if it isn't real popular here.

I watched it. It wasn't bad, but she did take fursuiting a little too far.

Furries really need to figure out that they don't belong on TV, unless they're dressed up as a werewolf for a movie or something.
The girl herself wasn't that bad, (better than some of them, anyways...) but on the same episode as the girl who eats couch cushions? Really TLC? Really?
I hate that channel anyways though, so maybe I'm biased? They seem to take anyone remotely odd or different and then makes a show going, "OMG look how weird these guys are!" and then use the same thing over and over again until they've milked every last cent out of it. (little people, big families, etc. etc.)

As the media always is, they'll point out the minorities and say "some". Some can mean 20% or 82%.
They'll make everything seem strange.
"Some Furries like to dress up as animals!"

Anyways, i'd love to make myself a FurSuit and go to a FurCon { I believe that is what they are called } That would be cool, seeing all these other furries

My friends kinda introduced me to the Furry world, last year in about 6th grade she was drawing and she was drawing anthro, so I asked her and she taught me the ropes and stuff..So then I found the CS Furs and it started there..

But I'm usually not very open about it, cause everyone at my school was kinda critical of me anyways, I didn't need anything else to be weird..

Not to mention she's kind of a brat. After it broke she was going to do the segment, she put up a video yelling at people saying how haters make her famous and give her pageviews. Basically everything out of the stereotypical bratty sparkledog artist handbook.

After the episode aired she deleted everything and "quit the fandom." So much for haters making her famous.

Never seen My Strange Addiction, but I really can't think of ANY show that portrays furries decently.

When I 'came out' as a furry was around the time I think it was CSI did an episode on furries, but it was AWFUL. Since then, I really haven't seen anything better. And as far as the 'adult content', it doesn't matter WHAT you have as hobby, there always is an adult side. People just like to see the 'horrible' sides of other people's hobbies and lifestyles. I guess it makes for better TV, but it's really stupid just to focus on that buisiness instead of the fandom as a whole.

That goes for ANYTHING though. I mean hey, they have horrible things of guitar hero on the internet. Anything can go in the gutter if you put it that way.

Now back to more appropriate talk. I think I tried to keep this clean and on topic, but if not, let me know and I'll delete this.

On the topic of My Strange Addiction, I never watch that show. TLC sucks waaay too hard for me to stomach watching any crap they have on their channel. It's terrible.

Regarding whether catgirls count as anthros- I believe they have the potential to be, but it all relies on what the artist intends, really. If someone makes something, intending for it to be a part of the fandom? It's furry. If someone makes something, and doesn't intend for it to be a part of the fandom? Not furry.
I think that this also counts for fully anthro drawings. If you make it intending for it to be furry, then it is. Make it, not intending for it to be furry? It's simply an anthro, not related to the furry fandom one bit.
But I dunno, that's just my opinion, really. I think the same for the whole "I only like ____ part of the fandom, am I still a furry?" question. If you want to be involved in it, go right ahead, but you don't have to.
