I'm a lion, I'm a tiger
I'm a caged-bird, I'm on fire
Got these paper wings, but they don't hold the air
Get so close to somebody, but I don't stay there
Much less brave than I admit
Much more scared than they all think
But I'm protecting the organ in my chest
'Cause the blood, sweat, and tears they can make quite a mess

For as long as he can remember, Craft has lived at sea. He remembers growing up on his father's ship, surrounded by nothing but the vast blue waters and the rolling waves. Back then, things were easy for him. Back then, Craft was just a boy that felt free while sailing and trapped while on land. But all good things have to come to an end eventually. When he was twelve, his father began to lose business. Nobody hired him to carry their cargo often, and so his crew slowly began to fall apart. And with a failing crew, it was only a matter of time before his father lost his ship and his livelihood. After that, they became beggars on the streets, striving to live. Craft can remember feeling.....disappointed. Disappointed in a man he had once admired, a man who had become a beggar when he could have lived like a king. So as soon as he was old enough to strike i on his own, the young boy left his father behind and joined the crew of another merchant ship.
For a while, this continued on and on. Craft was not old enough to be allowed many jobs, but he was given the right to small jobs as a cabin boy, working day in and day out. The sea, which had once felt so free, felt more like a jail than land did. How could things have changed so much? How could such a simple life turn into something that didn't feel right at all? For some time, Craft began wondering if he should simply give up and return to a life of begging. No, that would make him no better than his father. He would endure, would be strong on his own. It was during this time of revelation that the ship Craft was on was attacked by pirates. It was this attack that showed the young boy what kind of life he could lead that would allow him to live by his own terms. The life of a pirate. Craft begged the crew to take him on, even if it was only as a cabin boy. But their captain saw something else in the boy. A desire to break free of all chains and be his own man. If the boy wanted, the captain would give it to him....by teaching him the ways of the pirate.
A few years have passed since then, and now Craft owns his own ship and has his own crew. While he outwardly displays the ways of a simple merchant, he is known in the alleyways as a pirate. A man who will transport anything for the right price, and the right price is usually quite high. So it is that seedier individuals often hire his services to smuggle things around. Craft could care less what it is he has to smuggle, so long as he is allowed to return to the freedom of the ocean. Nonetheless, he has to toe theline somehow. So while smuggling, he puts on the air of a merchant and ships anything for a much lower price. After all, sailing with contraband is a much riskier business than transporting normal goods.
