Ah my gosh yes, I always loved those giant babes. I had a green show quality beauty years back that a breeder gave to me after they retired him from showing. Apparently he never placed well but bruh he was so gorgeous TuT

Hey yall I got a question. What would you think about new lines for these guys? As much as I love the current ones Im always up for a little revamping. I would most likely get them done by Neara if shes up to it. But I wanted your input first. You can message me regarding the questions or post here, up to you!

I'm with Folmes, I'd enjoy seeing some new lines as well! c: What would really be cool if there were different tails and manes, you know? Like the Crowntail type ones, Rosetail, double Halfmoon, etc.

A ten gallon tank with a sponge filter. Silk or live plants. Hard plastic decor and rough plants will tear fins, silk ones wont. Normal filters will suck up fins into the motor and shred them. Tanks smaller than 10 gallons will build up ammonia and cause burns and fin rot unless you plan on changing 50% of the water every single day. Make sure you research how to cycle a tank. They're carnivores so try to opt for frozen daphnia, brine shrimp, bloodworms, etc. No plant matter, they can't digest it (including that harmful old pea myth..no plant matter at all!)

As far as where to get the actual fish I really suggest either a private breeder or Petco. Ive never had any luck with local pet stores or especially places like petsmart or walmart. Petco has a little bit more expertise with fish in my opinion. Oh and a really good beginner variation (that I have found to be the hardiest for some reason) would be the veiltails or crowntails, which are usually the least expensive anyways. Try to go for a betta thats extreamly active, attacking the plastic container or flaring up at you when you walk by. If you wanna get a tank mate, look up care needs for a group of cory catfish, maybe shrimp or snails, even tetras can work with a well behaved betta. I have found that my bettas act much happier and active with a tank mate, but some are too murderous for it lol.

Sadly, I don't have a Petco near me, and already have a tank for my new friend. ^.^ I planned to rescue a rather lively gold one from Petsmart I found a few days ago, but they're not there anymore. I have to keep an eye out for another one that tries to kill me when I walk by. XD Thank you for the tip on the gravel and plants Shades! I was going to re-use a few of my plants from my Red Devil, buuut won't be doing that now.

Heh no worries (and I rescued quite a few from petsmart as well, only I didnt pay for them haha ^^').

Yeah I think the whole filter thing is the one most people overlook. Like they sell 'betta filters' that dont even work for bettas. My 'betta filter' sucked my very first betta right up against the vents. I dont know how long he was alive as it shredded him to pieces but it was pretty horrific. The 'betta' plants they sold to me had already done a number on his fins anyways though.

      ahh hey guys! sorry i haven't been active!! we just moved houses and it's taking longer than expected to get everything set up again uvu
      i'm getting a laptop for my birthday which is march 6th, so in like a week, and i'm most likely going to get it set up to where i can make adopts possiblly on a daily basis, but we'll see what happens.
      i also have school and we're currently stressing about registration for next year and i have to have it in by tomorrow, no joke.

      when everything is set up and stuff, i'll remove the backgrounds of my ended adopts and update the info, then i'll get a couple new adopts up <3
      and i want to know what kind of competitions you guys like! so you can either answer on here or pm me!

      @shady
      i'm all for the new lines, and i'm with fluffy on the different types of mane and tails idea.
      also thanks for the betta advice, i was actually thinking about getting one again cx
