To my Girl...i think she slowly does bether, we where out on the trail Walking for some mins, now the second time, as she started to walk bether again and ground was not slippery or iced over...and she even did two or so trot stepps in the snow^^(that was a big happy moment)...and walked fast today at some point on the soft grass or other not so stony ground and on the way back...so i really think we are on the way again...and she can go healthy and without hurting in the pasture season when grass is high enough...
i so hope i see her troting and galopping around soon^^

Maybe have a look in Senior horse feed...there are some with alga and herb-grass cut its, without sugar-molasse? we did try two...one we had last, the horse did hate but the first looked and smelled really nice and the two old Girls did love it...and the prize was not bad.

♥ Galloping Hoofs ♥ wrote:Any info on getting a donkey to let you do his hoofs without a fuss?
here are two or when im right three People with donkey maybe they can help you with your problem
thats not easy to give help with not enough info....
Like how old is the animal, gender, a large or small donkey...
maybe what is the Problem, when did it start and how, how much does the donkey fight...or is it only the donkey being heavy on the Hand Holding the leg up...or plain fighting with hoof and teeth?
together with other donkey or horses, handled every day since birth or half wild on the pasture with only checking in in the health once every day...
who does it fight...the farrier, you, the owner, some one else that takes care of them ...one more than an other Person?
but maybe like with horses, step for step, not getting angry, sometimes going back some steps; ist as if you Train a foal for his first hoofcare....
stroking the back down to the leg till it stands calm, then touching at the hoof...some give the hoof...treats and prais is a must do....and when it only gives the hoof for a short Moment...hoof up and when its only a little bit of the ground and down again...the time of the hoof up, will be longer with time...you must be fast to react and has to be the one putting te hoof down if not it learn its stronger and you have the same Problem again^^
when its real fighting....then you need to be careful and need lots of time...at the beginning you can only go till the Point where its relaxed....you will see when its ready for more, with some it can takes days other month...and a rope Training can help too... you touch the animal all over the Body with a soft sturdy Long rope, when its calm you can touch it on all legs...when still calm you could try to lie the rop open around one leg when no fight you could try to pull up the leg a bit nd let it down asap...till one day the leg is up for longer time and maybe even hoof care.....the animal is not touched by Hand and can stay more calm....
some are more calm with this...but it all depends on how it fights and why....and how good you know the animal...
or board of light Wood placed on the ground and putting the hoof on it ....you add one board after the other with time...not to fast...till one hoof is 10-20cm from the ground...they learn to stand with one hoof up...its a nice soft Training....you also could Train it to put the hoof up on it on its own...you do this with all hoofs
you can try it with one board more each day or every two day...but really not to fast.
not sure if an of this helps....eeach animal is different and aslong as you dont know the animal or see the Problem live or on a video its not easy to say what helps....so please stay careful and work with help....maybe your farrier has a good idea.
tell how it does go
