Uncommon • Sharp Class
Raincutters are much like the Scauldron. They tend to be aggressive and short tempered.
Raincutters can breathe fire that can stay alive even in water. Once they are tamed,
Raincutters can be extremely loyal to their riders.

I found a raincutter near Berk today. I didn't know what it was doing so close to Berk but he was pretty young. Probably a teen. He was really cute and i just adore raincutters. He was very pretty too. I had Aurora with me at the time and she seemed to like him too! She purred and nudged me over to him. She wanted me to tame him! I laughed at my little speed stinger. I turned to be face to face with a raincutter. I could feel his warm-cold fish breath in my face. I backed up, he backed up. I did that a few times when Aurora nudged me again. I told her to stop but she wouldn't, and it was too cute to see her trying to get me to tame the dragon. So a threw a few fish over into the woods. The dragon ran and i followed. He ate them all! I picked up a large stick and threw it. He chased it! I laughed to see him so happy. I threw it a few more times. It looked like he was getting a bit tired, but for a teen, he was ok! When he ran to the river, he tried to fish but slipped and fell in. I laughed so hard and walked over. He was sitting in the water, slumped. I was still chuckling when Aurora shoved me into the river too! She started to do a dragon laugh and so did the raincutter. I laughed as well. This was too cute. After a bit of splashing i grabbed my towel and dried off a bit. He was very energetic for a dragon. I grabbed a few easy trapped fish from the water and tossed two to the raincutter and two to Aurora. I loved this raincutter, he was a cutie. But when i tried to touch him he backed away. This dragon was going to be mine no matter what! I would train him to be an ultimate dragon! Before he tripped me with he tail. I laughed again and chased him. When he turned and started chasing me i ran to a cliff wall trapped. Wondering what would happen, i put out my hand. Before you know it, i was petting a raincutter. I looked over and saw his face staring at me. I smiled, calling him River, before i was covered in dragon slobber!

Pour, pour, pour. It surprised me, the sheer amount of water coming down this particular evening. I watched somewhat gloomily as rain pounded the roof of my barn so thickly I almost couldn't see it, even though it was mere yards from the house. I couldn’t help but wonder whether this kind of weather was commonplace around here, though the earth had seemed so solid beforehand it seemed impossible for it to be true. I knew poor Ink was probably banging around his stall; I hoped he wasn’t afraid of rain. Funnily enough, the sound of pounding water had ceased in my ears; for a moment, my world seemed quiet.
I never again would hear a screech quite like the one I heard then. Loud and high-pitched, it pierced the sound of the storm like nothing else could. A dragon, of course. I gasped, naturally, and sat up rod-straight, straining to see out into the pouring rain for any sign of the creature. Lightning flashed over the barn - there, a massive form! Whatever it was, it was huge. I wasn’t entirely sure if I could accommodate it, but a dragon that large would be a useful tool for long-distance trips. Grabbing my coat, I bolted out into the shower, my ‘dragon bag’ - stocked with all of my dragon-catching necessities - ready at my side.
It stood patiently at the barn door when I arrived, panting and pulling my feet laboriously from the thick mud. Of course it wasn’t afraid of me; it could crush me under one massive foot if it had even the slightest desire to kill me. As I stepped closer, it shot a stream of seemingly waterproof fire over my head as a warning, illuminating its face for a second. A Raincutter! It seemed somewhat smaller than others of its kind, but not by much. I noticed, though, that it quivered slightly in the rain, tail tucked clean under its light underbelly.
A Raincutter that didn’t like rain? It seemed impossible, but sure enough the beast had its head pulled into its body, its wings poorly attempting to shield its body. Laughing, I placed a hand on the barn door, seeing whether the beast would run into the barn’s shelter. To my surprise (and delight), it stared longingly at my hand, snuffling somewhat miserably.
Cautiously, I pulled the door open, light spilling out into the palpable darkness. Without hesitation, the beast scurried into the sheltered warmth, much to the surprise and annoyance of my Nadder, who’d been peacefully sleeping just moments before. The huge beast shook its body violently, spraying water through the entire barn. Upon closer inspection he seemed to be a beautiful and fastidious male, very unlike the stoic temperament so common of the species. He was rather gorgeous, admittedly, his wings especially; the combination of light blue and pale yellow gave a sort of handcrafted appearance. Still, I felt he was deserving of a more regal name; it might bump up his pride another notch.
“Rain Call,” I stated as he began to delicately lick the mud off of his feet. He utterly ignored me. Carefully, I closed the bars on my other three dragons’ stalls to keep them from getting hurt, before cautiously backing out and sliding the barn door shut. Rain Call didn’t give me another glance as I left.
I shrugged somewhat happily as I walked home, pleased that I hadn’t had to waste any resources catching him. The rain couldn't dampen my mood any longer. I hope this streak of easy catches continues!

Journal Log
Day 47, Year 23

Have you ever been the odd one out? That's me. Every other dragon trainer I know has their own dragon, except me. My parents say that I will get my own dragon eventually, it just takes time. Well, I'm sick of waiting, so tonight I'm going to sneak out and see if I can find myself a dragon. Dad is calling me, so I'd better go, will update this with how tonight goes.

Journal Log
Day 48, Year 23

Okay so sneaking out last night was not one of my better ideas. But I did it so here's what happened. I snuck out of my house at around nightfall, parents were talking, and the back door was left unguarded, so I made a break for it. Once I was out of my house it was all about deciding where to look. Originally I had planned on heading to the forest, but I had forgotten how creepy the forest was at nightfall and decided to head down by the beach. Quickly I walked through the village, avoiding making eye contact with anyone, I couldn't be sure who would force me to go back home. After I made it past the village, I headed down the path leading towards the beach, then remembering that I had forgotten to bring any sort of weapon for in case the dragon attacked me. I debated going back, but decided that I wouldn't "hopefully" need a weapon. Arriving at the beach, I noticed a large dark figure a couple paces away. Forgetting my common sense I proceeded towards the figure, praying to Thor that it wasn't some axe wielding psycho viking who was going to try to kill me. I can thankfully report that my initial guess was incorrect. As I got closer to it, I realized the figure was too large to be a viking, there are some larger vikings, but none quite this large. It had to be a dragon, the only question was what kind? Carefully to stay a pace away, I watched the shape, trying to decipher what kind it was. Eventually I narrowed it down to some sort of tidal or possibly sharp class dragon, based on how close it was to the water. Remembering how dangerous both classes can be, I decided to head back home, since I didn't have any weapons. However that idea was quickly foiled when I stepped on a branch brought up by the tide. The branch broke in half with a loud SNAP, catching the dragon's attention. It turned to look at me, it's beady yellow eyes staring straight through me. I stood completely still, not wanting to appear a threat. The dragon came closer to me, the moonlight illuminating it's body. It was a dark blue color, but more importantly I now knew what kind of dragon it was, Raincutter. Thinking back to what I had read about Raincutters in the book of dragons, I tried to come up with the best way to befriend this dragon so it wouldn't attack me. A low growl rumbled out from the mouth of the dragon as it continued to stare right at me. Now that it was a few paces forward I glanced around it to see what it had been doing. A bag of bait sat behind the dragon, and I remembered reading how Raincutter's like grub and worms, they were the only dragons who did. I tried to think of a way I could use that, but since the bag was on the opposite side of the angry dragon that wouldn't be too much help. But before I could come up with another plan it started to rain. The dragon reacted oddly to the rain, it enjoyed it, the rain almost seeming to calm the dragon down. However the rain made me soaking wet, it wasn't exactly drizzling, it was more of a downpour, like the gods had decided to slash the rainclouds open. Already cold, it isn't exactly nice and warm on Berk, the rain made me chilled to the bone, so much so that I began to shiver, my lips turning a pale blue. The dragon, noticing this, came closer, it's broad wings resting on it's back. Before I could utter a final prayer to the gods, the dragon was close enough to bite my head off, it's face only a few inches away from my. But instead of attacking me, it extended out it's wings, putting them over over me to make some sort of giant umbrella. I was shocked by this action, but the shock quickly changed to gratitude when it fired against the sand next to me, causing a small flame to appear. Bending down, I put my hands over the flame, the heat warming me up. The dragon rested it's head on the other side of the flame, it's eyes looking out towards the ocean. Feeling like I should somehow say thank you, I reached over the flame, carefully so as not to light my arm on fire, and put my hand on side of the dragon's head, whispering a soft, "Thank you." The dragon recoiled slightly at the touch, obviously not used to it, but then it relaxed, almost enjoying the affection. That night I feel asleep on the beach, next to the flame and with the wings of the raincutter covering me. The next morning (today) I woke up and the raincutter was gone, and the small flame extinguished. Feeling like the previous night had been nothing more than a dream I stood up, and started walking back to the village. I got about halfway there when the raincutter returned, landing directly in front of me, blocking my path. "Morning." I said to the dragon, navigating around it's large body and continuing on the path. The raincutter didn't appear in front of me again, so I figured it was back at the beach or wherever else raincutters go. However as I walked through the village, everyone gave me weird looks, like my hair was on fire. "What?" I asked, confused by the looks. "Is that yours?" One of my friends asked, pointing behind me. I turned around to see what she was referring to and saw the raincutter, which had apparently been following me. Turning back to my friend I replied, "Uh...yes. Yes it is." "What's it's name?" My friend replied. I thought for a moment before responding, "Downpour, it's..his name is Downpour."

Slate flipped through his journal, the wrinkled pages smelling of salt and ink. He paused at a page, and smiled slightly. His dark brown hair fell into his face as he read a journal entry he had written over seven years ago. He smiled slightly, the scar on his face twisting awkwardly. Slate began to read, eyes flicking over the slightly charred parchment.

A dragon has been causing trouble with the ships again. Sometimes, I wonder if Berk's plan of training dragons is all that it is cut out to be. No matter. It has been said that the dragon is a Raincutter, which, I might add, are well known for the fact that they are short tempered. Well, it seems like a stupid idea to try and take down this dragon. However, tomorrow some men and I are going to take a longship and see if we can lure her in. If I don't write anymore in this journal, it is likely I have been burnt to a crisp.

I saw her today. The dragon who has been causing so much trouble with the trading ships. At first glance, she most certainly was impressive. Although slightly smaller than the average Raincutter, she certainly made up for it in her dazzling appearance. I can't say I wasn't nervous. Even just watching her circle the long-ship I was on was nerve racking. However, what made my heartbeat speed up was when she swooped down, landing in a less than graceful mater on the boats deck. Looking into her eyes, I could see a sort of animal intelligence. I swallowed, and the dragon drew back her lips. This wasn't going as I had hoped. One of the men on the ship looked at me, eyeing his crossbow. I wasn't going to let him shoot the dragon, so I gave a quick shake of my head. The man looked disappointed. I question the company I keep. Being a former dragon hunter, I understand
