I've had guppies hold their fry for a week past their suspected due date. Try to be patient. Can you post a photo of her? I might get a clue of what could have happened or if she's just not ready to give birth by seeing her gravid spot ("butt-area"). How is her eating? Is she active as normal?

Oh hey, didn't know there was a thread for fish owners!
Hello everyone. c: Since I'm here, I might as well ask a question of the goldfish owners:
When housing goldfish such as black moors/telescope butterflies, do you prefer a plain setup with minimal plants/decor and no substrate, or do you prefer a well decorated tank?
I've seen owners on both sides of the spectrum so I was curious. Personally I just have one black moor, only a few months old, in a 10 gallon tank (he'll be getting a bigger 20-30 gallon once I get paid), and he has a minimal set up with a live bamboo plant, a small decor piece, and no substrate. I had an impaction problem with my last goldfish that I had on sand, so it scared me away from getting more sand for this one. Having no substrate doesn't seem to bother him, he still "grazes" at the bottom of the tank just like he would if there were rocks or sand.

Yes, she's acting very normal. Eating, swimming around, etc. I have her in a breeder now though since she was supposed to be due.
Her breeder looks a bit dirty cause I haven't cleaned out the excess food from this morning yet.

Best pictures I could get, she wouldn't sit still enough and the camera wouldn't focus properly for a closer shot.

She looks healthy. The fry are definitely still there. If she were to abort them you wouldn't see the black (the fry eyes) because she'd absorb them. I bet she'll be having them any day now. Don't worry that the spot isn't entirely black - it just means she won't have a ton of babies.

Okay, thank you!
Now I have another question... I have two other females who have BIG black spots, but they're not very big in the belly or squared off. That's also kinda confusing since I thought the big black spot meant they would give birth soon?

My boyfriend and I are going to the pet store today to get him snails, and it's taking all of my willpower already not to buy another betta while I'm there. They have such beautiful bettas at that store it's impossible not to want one. Or ten.

I must have changed about 20-25% and i tried to match the temperature and i did add water conditioner, so should all be good then. Thank you.

Been out all day today, but checked on him when i got back and he had made another bubble nest, bless him! Got algae growing in the tank though. Spotted worm like growth on the live plants and looked it up and it's an algae i can't remember the name of. xD Anyone got any tips to help with that?
I'll need to know the type of algae to offer any advice. Every type has different causes and in turn different solutions. c:
Sorry for taking so long to reply, life has been insane recently so haven't had much time on my hands. xD And it's Staghorn Algae. Some sites have said high Amonia levels, but i checked the water yesterday and the amonia test showed no amonia. I think it might be the filter to be honest. As there is also a funny kind of film on the surface of the water and that might be because last time i cleaned the filter out, i put the output tube lower down and now it isn't agitating the surface. So could be the filter.

I got two bettas. 0.o A red female and a blue female. I'm terrible. There were two piebald super deltas and they were gorgeous, but so expensive! I'm happy with my two girls, I just need names now
