Reptiles - Geckos, Lizards, Snakes, and Turtles!

My leo keeps picking up his worms and when he goes to 'bite' it again to get it further back in his mouth he drops them, I haven't seen him successfully eat anything in a while (he must still be eating but I just haven't seen it) is there anything I can do?

Maybe try giving him a different prey item?
My girl tends to do that with everything but crickets. c:

One of my bearded dragons doesn't eat worms. He will bite them and then when he finds out its a worm he spits it out. Sometimes they are just picky eaters, lol. Try a different food item like crickets or spotted roaches(aka Dubia)

Its got to be years since I posted on this thread so I thought I would re-introduce myself.

Hey I'm Ryan and I have a crested gecko called Ziggie.

I really love snakes and frogs.
I hope that in the future I'll be able to get a royal python or a leafy frog.
I currently have no room for one but once I move my fishtank downstairs I will consider getting a frog or betta. to go on my desk to fill that spot. (the space is quite big)

But anyway, not much to say about me but that.
I hope to post in here more often, and send me photos of your reptiles (or any pets for that matter, I love all animals, apart from wasps, sorry.)

Just bought him a bunch of different foods
Mealworms - Tries to eat them, falls out of mouth
Waxworms - Manages to eat them after a few tries (usually falls out of his mouth)
Crickets - Picks them up, fall out of mouth. Ate 2 of them
Got some dried mealworms and baby food as a last resort but havent use it yet

Sounds like maybe he is having trouble eating in general then? Is he actually spitting them out or can he not hold them and eat them? Wazworms are high in fat, so use those as a spare treat not a daily feeder, just a tip

Aww your Ziggy is the same color as my male, Peach. c: I have a ball python, and I used to have a few white tree frogs & fire belly toads when I was in highschool. They're cool but not my favorite tbh. You should see my room, there is NO space xD So many tanks on the floor and I even had to buy a fold up table to make more room. Lol. If you use instagram, you can follow my pet account @skyys_scales to see pics of all my babies. (2 bearded dragons, 2 crested geckos, a chinese water dragon & a ball python) I'm also looking to get into breeding crested geckos this year so hopefully i'll be getting some gorgeous geckos to take pics of! c:

Yeah I know about the waxworms, he's losing weight so I figured a few wouldn't hurt. He's just having trouble eating them. Like when he tries to chomp on them the don't get any farther back in his mouth and eventually wriggle free

Do any of you have a snake/lizard along with a dog/cat (preferably a cat)? I know that cats usually bother rodents and birds, but what about reptiles?

Honestly it just depends on the dog or cat's personality. I have two dogs and two cats. Both cats could care less about them, but will sometimes bat at them. Our smaller cat likes to jump in the beardie's cage and lay with them. One dog is scared of them and the other thinks they're chew toys.

I own Two cats, One is scared of My beared dragon and the others would actually Hunt him if she got the chance. I doesnt have him with the cats But it can happen that one sees him

@Dewy. ; My cats never bother Ziggie (Over though she is a bit of an awkward spot) But even when I have her out my cats just sort of stay away and my dog doesn't care, but its deferent for every cat. No cat related incidents have happened with Ziggie.

@skyy, ; I'll check it out some time! Yeah, Ziggie is really cool and I love her to bits. I think that the whites frogs are really cool. I also love the packman and dart frogs. I am trying to think of pets that won't take up more than 30cm by 30cm (base, it could be a tall tank) of tank space for snakes are ruled out, I would feel bad getting another crestie because Ziggie would still be downstairs. So I thought frogs. Also I am a bit uncomfortable with tarantulas.I'll have to have a look next time I'm at the reptile shop. (Still considering a betta though)
