Common • Sharp Class
Speed Stingers are very quick and aggressive dragons. They do not have wings, and
cannot fly. However, webbing on their feet allow them to run on water. Speed Stingers
have a pointed tail that carries venom that paralyzes victims who have been stung.
They are also pack dragons.

Name; Bright
Gender; female
Species; speed stinger
Taming Entry;
“You little butt!”
Tynan sat across the pen from me, grinning smugly. I swear he was smiling, I swear it; his lips were pulled back into something that could only be described as a mischievous beam. I glanced down at the lump of seared leather at my feet, still smoking slightly. It was a saddle. Keyword; was.
I’d gotten absolutely nowhere with my Typhoomerang; he was practically untrainable, preferring burning things and chasing innocent livestock to bearing a saddle and flying. Honestly, I wondered if he had been a good idea at all. I glared at him as he backed up playfully, flashing his wings at me in humor.
I never thought Tyhpoomerangs were particularly good jumpers, but at that very moment the creature shot at least ten feet into the air, wings pinned clear to his sides. His screech turned into an alarmed growl as he landed again, his eyes searching frantically for his apparent attacker.
Suddenly out of the bushes leapt a small pink and brown Speed Stinger, hissing and spitting angrily. I realized then that Tynan had been stung! Panicked, I shoved him hard away from the little beast, wondering how long it would take the venom to take effect. The little creature hissed louder when I tried to wave it off before slamming its tail hard into the ground as a warning. To my surprise, no venom leaked from the tip; perhaps it had been all used up?
I dumped out the contents of my leather satchel and held it at the ready, inching forward. The raptor-like dragon growled, its voice laughably high-pitched. Each step took me closer to the pointed tail, poised and angry.
Thwap! The little dragon slammed the appendage right into the bag. I didn’t hesitate, closing the satchel and holding it firmly. The Stinger squealed and squirmed, snapping and growling; it was clear that it - she - was a feisty one! I noticed then that not 10 yards away lay a dead sheep, likely belonging to one of the neighbors. Thank God; the little thing had already used up all of her venom! Tynan looked miffed and somewhat embarrassed at the sight of her, nursing his wounded tail (and pride).
Without hesitation, I tied the bag around her tail to protect myself and scooped her up; she’d probably get bigger, but since she was so young she was about the size of a larger dog. She continued to snarl at me, giving me some of the worst attitude I’ve ever gotten from such a small animal. Finally, I dropped her off in a stall and shut the door before she could escape. She snapped at all of my other dragons before standing in the corner of the stall, rumbling viciously. I was lucky, so very lucky; she would not be easy to deal with in the future. Already she swung her tail furiously, her eyes filled with hatred for the bag on her tail.
Bright, I called her. For her bright colors, of course. Not the most original, but it works. I’ve been hanging around outside her stall since I put Tynan away, sewing up a more durable leather pouch to keep her tail in until she quits trying to kill everyone. Can’t wait to see how much she hates it.
