Taming Entry;
Hey Joy. Yes, I have come home once again a mess. I think it's becoming a habit. I said I was done dragon looking?? I lied. I went out again.
This time I didn't have to wait long for a sighting. I saw a beautiful Deadly Nadder right off and started my taming process, standing teary and talking, tossing bits of meat then trying to touch the dragon. I got to the 'Trying to touch the dragon" part when the Nadder decided she was done with me and flew off.
So, with almost no meat I set off again. Maybe I could tame a Terrible Terror with what was left? So, as soon as I saw one I started to try. But, like with the Nadder, it flew off as soon as I tried to get close.
I was out of meat, but kept walking. I'm not exactly sure why, maybe to walk off the disappointment of trying twice and failing twice?? Anyway, I walked and walked loosing track of time, and where I was. I was about to start home when I heard a strange sound, like a storm. But the sky was clear. I thought that was weird, but isn't think much of it before I heard a huge bellow of pain. This wasn't a human, I could tell by the sound, but I rushed to help anyway. No animal deserved to be in as much pain as I heard in that one cry.
After about ten minutes of running, well, about six minutes of running and four minutes of leaning against trees panting, I found the source of the cries. A young Gronkle had it's wing trapped under a boulder. Judging from the angle of the wing, it was broken. The Granule growled at me, but didn't blow any fire.
"Ohh, you poor thing." I said, examining the situation. "I'm going to need a big stick to get you out." I looked around, locating a large, slightly crooked branch that would serve. I positioned a smaller rock near the boulder and jammed the stick under the boulder so that I had created a lever. I pushed on the lever with all my might. Nothing happened. I pushed harder. Nothing. I moved me pivot stone closer to the boulder and pushed again. This time it moved, beginning to roll off the Gronkle's wing. It shrieked in pain, giving me the most tortures look I have ever seen in a dragon's eyes.
"I'm so sorry, but I have to do this." I said gently pushing harder. Soon the boulder tipped and rolled off the wing, leaving the Grinkle screaming in pain. I looked around frantically, finally spotting some Dragon Grass which i swiftly plucked and rubbed on the dragons chin. It's eyes half closed happily and it toppled over, fast asleep.
"There." I said softly. Then I set to work, tearing strips of cloth from my jacket and collecting long, straight sticks, rubbing more Dragon Grass on the Granule whenever he started to wake up. I swiftly splinted the broken wing, and just in time. I had used the last of the small patch of Dragon Grass and the Gronkle was waking up. I backed away swiftly, eyeing my impromptu splint and shivering in my now sleeveless, way to short jacket.The Gronkle turned and examined the thing on his wing, then turned to look at me. I waved, not knowing what else to do. He flapped his good wing. Blinking, I waved again. He flapped his wing again.
"You silly!" I exclaimed. "That boulder must have scrambled your brain too." After a moment, I said, "That's what I'll call you, Boulder." Boulder bobbed his head, seeming to like his name. "Well then Boulder, lets get home." I turned and started off, Boulder following at my heels.
