Calico went to sit down at the Gryffindor table, waving goodbye to Jen. Gryffindor gained a few new students as usual, and the tables loaded themselves with food, yummy delicious food. As Calico was finishing her tapioca pudding, Dumbledore started to talk, the usual stuff like Filch added more things to the forbidden list, the forbidden forest was of course forbidden, blah blah blah and then he said, " I would like everyone to be aware of the fact that there have been multiple vampire attacks near Hogsmeade. Because of this, until further notice, there will be no trips allowed there. Do not worry, Hogwarts will be perfectly safe. " Calico frowned, she loved Hogsmeade, but then it sunk in...Vampire attacks. She stood up and called out toward the Staff table, "Why cancel the Hogsmeade trips completely? Are Vampires only out at dark?! Or are these something new?!"

Dumbledore hesitated a moment before replying. "A... A member of Hogwarts staff was one of those attacked. Septima Vector, the Arithmancy professor, was found unconscious in Hogsmeade in the early afternoon last week. She was last seen before then in the morning, meaning that the attack happened during the day. Fear not," he said, in response to the worried whispers in the crowd, "She is alive and in St. Mungo's at the moment. Still unconscious, but very much alive."

Calico sat down, without saying a word. Thoughts were racing through her mind. Vampire Attacks. During the Day. What the heck?! The blonde pushed her pudding away and propped her head on the palms of her hands. She scanned the other tables, looking for her friend, hoping to lock eyes.
