This big guy won't let us past him and is extremely protective of all of the other horses.
To win him, tell me how you were able to groom him for the first time.
I will post a groomed, healthy version of him after he is adopted.

This guy was very difficult and took many tries. The first time he wouldn't let us get him then once we finally got him he wouldn't go into the wash stall. He hated being touched and was very nippy. Then we tried to brush him and he reared up. When we tried to pick his hooves...it was worse!! He kicked at the wall and got the huge gash on his back leg. When we finally tried the hose he liked that and calmed down. Once we worked with him ALOT he would let us touch him a little. Then with more work and us trusting each other he let us do what ever needed. He couldn't be in a pasture full of horses because he would be too protective. Now with a year of hard work we got him trained and even rideable. We are working with him for jumping. He seems to really like it. He is still young and has a lot of life left in him!

Personality; Double is still very aggressive, even when tamed, but we have discovered that he is willing to work and is a total ladies man.
How were you able to groom him?;
I didn't start by trying to approach him. I sat in front of his stall, facing away from him and just talked to him. I slowly got closer until i was allowed to come in the stall. Then I began feeding him treats, cinnamon sticks are his favorite. Finally, I made him let me rub his neck with me hand before he got his treat. After that, we progressed to a curry comb and soft brush. As long as he gets a cinnamon stick afterward, grooming is a cinch now.

So cute! Reminds me almost of my Chancey beb, my rescue horse IRL. Congratulations to whoever wins him, and I'm also marking to see who wins him. ^-^
Hello yes I art stuff. I don't really want any pets except for rares and dragons, but they aren't for free. I do overpay for rares and higher and dragons, but I don't really want any other pets other than those.

An awesome Roleplay you should join!

How were you able to groom him?;
Honestly, I can't really take any credit! I tried everything I could think of from treats, talking to him, even playing music. Every time he even saw a brush or any grooming utensil he would give me a warning snort and, what looked like a horse-glare. Then, one day I went to see him in the pasture where he had been staying and I discovered that my mischievous filly, Eve, had slipped out of her neighboring pasture into his. I was a bit nervous, I had kept him alone because his protective nature made him a little too possessive and anytime I tried to take a horse out of the pasture, or even pet him or her Chance would lay back his ears and stand between me and the horse. Knowing Eve I guessed she would find such a situation funny. I walked up to them slowly and attempted to grab the filly's halter but sure enough Chance moved between use and the feisty filly dashed away. After an hour I managed to get Eve under control enough to brush her a bit. That had been my purpose in coming out to see the horses that day. No matter how hard I tried I could never get her to leave Chance's pasture though. I think she looked up to him, like a big brother or something. However, if i showed her that I was there to groom her she would prance over to me, looking excited. She loved being groomed, mostly because of the treats she received after behaving. Then one day, as I was untangling her mane, I felt something bump my elbow. I turned around to see that it was Chance. He had walked over quietly when my back was turned. After a few days he kept coming over to watch Eve get groomed, she always made a big deal out of it, nickering and showing her appreciation by standing as still as a filly her age possibly could. One day, during her grooming time, Chance came over as he usually did and began to edge between myself and Eve. I was a bit nervous, he hadn't showed a possessive nature toward her ever since she started coming to me to be groomed. However, Eve trotted off and Chance stayed still, standing by me as if waiting for something. I hesitantly took a brush from my bag and put it against his coat, going in slow, circular motions. He lowered his head, but made no move to walk away. I finished brushing his coat then tried the comb, and he seemed to enjoy that too. When I was done he almost seemed disappointed. Ever since that day he has let me groom him whenever I need to. And while I would love to say it was my horse whispering abilities that got him to accept grooming, all the credit is due the feisty filly who settled down only when I had a brush in one hand, and bits of apple in the other.

Username; WhoaDazzle
Barn name; Du
Show name; Folie a Duex
Personality; Du is still a very protective, and even slightly aggressive, horse. He protects his "herd" very carefully, and has extreme separation anxiety. It takes time and patience to get Du to trust you, but if the stallion accepts you, he's a perfect partner, and will do anything you ask of him. He's not fond of dogs, water, or men. He also doesn't do well with shots, fighting like a madman when he has to get one. Du is anxious on the trail, unless he's got a horse he knows well with him, but has a previously unrecognized dressage talent.
How were you able to groom him?;
I stood, facing the dirty dun on the opposite side of the roundpen. He had his head stuck up over the side, and was whinnying fretfully for the couple of mares whom he shared a pasture with. He reared up, and I was afraid he was going to hurt himself, so I strode to the middle of the ring, startling the stallion, and causing him to start running. At least this was he was distracted. I kept him moving for quite some time, and finally the dun horse started chewing the air, signaling that his submission. I immediately turned around, taking all the pressure off of him. Several minutes later I felt a soft nose against my back. I slowly turned around, eyes cast down. I didn't want to startle the dun again. I reached out, placing my hand on his dirst-encrusted neck. He shivered, but remained. I was too scared that if I went and got grooming tools, the dun would freak out again, so I scrubbed his body with my fingers. He seemed to enjoy his grooming, and the dun's eyes closed slightly. My hands were crusted with dirt by the end, but he was a little less dirty. As I left the pen, I envisioned a future in which the dun would look forward to a grooming. And I knew that I wanted the dun for myself. I wanted to see him trust humans. I wanted him to trust me. I wanted him to be loved.

Personality (and backstory);
Jupiter is skittish, and semi-agressive, but underneath all that fluff he is a sweetie.He was orignally an accomplished show jumper, who ranked well, and won most of his competitions. Jupiter is fast, and strong, and he is an off the track racehorse, who was orginally rehibilitated, but then was abused, once again. Jupiter's owner, after he was a racehorse, and became a jumper, was a rich young man. He saw the gleam of potential in Jupiter and snatched him up. He hired the most expensive, well rounded trainer in the state to train Jupiter. The young man had no desire to ever ride Jupiter himself, he only thought of the amazing horse as an investment opportunity. The trainer would roughly brush Jupiter everyday with a metal curry comb. It raked his soft skin, and would cause sores. Jupiter would wince and try to nip the trainer to get her to stop. This only made it worse, she would take out her large whip and smack him repeatedly with it on the nose. Jupiter started to become agressive, and his soft sweet interior was being covered up with fear. When the trainer would ride him he would buck, and rear. She eventually left, telling Jupiter's owner that he was worthless. Jupiter's owner took him straight to the glue factory, where he stood until Queen of Hearts Ranch took him in.
I saw him and fell in love. The big horse just need a little tender love and care. I took a soft brush and tried touching it to him, he reared and fought. I could see the fear in his big brown eyes. I calmed him with soft words, and grabbed a bucket of oats and apples (his favorites). I tried over and over again, touching the brush to him, and letting him have his treats. Eventually he allowed me to stroke his tattered mane with it. I cooed to him and softly brushed it over his wide chest.
It took many months to help Jupiter onto his road to recovery. I worked everyday with him, ground work mostly. His bucking problem was gone, but we still saw a glimpse of a rear every now and then. I pulled his mane, and brushed it out. We clipped it and waited for it to grow. It grew a nice length, and I brushed it everyday. it is now longer than it was, and now his tail is just right.
I am attempting to adopt Jupiter, so he can live on my Sanctuary, so he can be safe, and stay sound.
