Shadowpatch smiled. "I'd be happy to." he replied, chuckling. "But you've still got some life in you. I bet if we went out hunting right now you'd catch more prey than I could." He nudged her. "Come on, you've had a couple of litters of kits already, and handled all of them alright- what's so different about hunting? Either way you're chasing a small creature. Only difference is, with kits you want to bring them back alive and well. And prey's a bit smaller, usually."

Tempeststar's mouth tightened. "Sweetkit. Both of my sons are intent on being warriors."

Boapaw made her way back to camp, the patch of raw skin where he fur was ton away stung. But as she enetered Ravenwing's den she saw Tempeststar and tensed. I'll wait my turn...

Spiritfire nodded. "Just worry about yout technique first, then once you've got it you can get faster. Keep trying."

Eagleheart - Tom - 84 moons - Tagged: Open, in camp
Eagleheart trotted into camp with Boapaw's prey, leaving it on the pile and looking around for Dragonsong. She wasn't there, but he spotted Crystalheart, so maybe he could get her talking- no, he wanted to get her on her own, and she was already talking to Shadowpatch. Instead, he looked around to see if there was something he could busy his paws with until Boapaw got looked at.

Dawnpaw nodded, though she thought she'd try harder not to go to slow because she didn't want to frustrate or disappoint Spiritfire. She tried to rush the next one, but after two pawsteps felt her form go completely sloppy, so she stopped, then moved on again slower, but not so slow as before. Her technique was shoddy but not terrible, so when she pinned the leaf again she landed awkwardly but at least on her four paws.

Crystalheart smiled. "Oh, alright. A little hunting wouldn't hurt," she meowed, heaving herself to her paws. She stretched, relieving her tense muscles and smiled.

Ravenwing nodded. "I'll talk to her about it, then. I wonder how she'll take the news," she meowed, not knowing that the kit was already listening to their conversation. She saw Boapaw standing a ways behind the medicine den and flicked her tail. "A cat needs my attention at the moment," she meowed. "I'll speak with Sweetkit. Thank you." She flicked her tail again and beckoned Boapaw to come in.

Shadowpatch grinned. "Never hurt anyone- well, I guess I mean it's generally good for you. I suppose someone could hurt themself while hunting, if they slipped or got stuck in a bush or fell out of a tree, something like that. But hunting is great, you get to stretch your legs and bring back something for the whole clan to enjoy."

Crystalheart chuckled. "You sound like an apprentice telling a kit about hunting," she teased as she straightened up. "So are we going hunting or what?"

"Well, if it makes you feel young again." Shadowpatch replied. "Let's go!" He trotted toward the camp entrance. "Come on, I'll race you to the stream!" he added. ((Sorry for short posts, kinda wb))

Crystalheart smiled and bounded after him. "You're on!" She began charging ahead, speeding past the warrior. It felt good to finally run again. The wind ruffled her fur and flattened her whiskers. She couldn't remember the last time she had run like this. She heard paw steps pounding behind her and knew Shadowpatch was catching up.

Shadowpatch raced after Crystalheart. She'd surprised him, but now he was gaining on her, his paws thudding hard as he practically flew across the ground after her, as fast as he could run without hitting any trees, stumps or bushes. The main question was whether he would be able to catch up before she reached the stream- he was gaining, but only slowly.

Crystalheart's muscles had finally loosened, but now she was fighting tiredness. She tried to push forward and beat the younger tom, but she was steadily but slowly decreasing her speed. Her only hope was to reach the stream before he passed her. Then it came into view quite a distance away, and she pushed even harder, though it didn't do much to increase her speed. Shadowpatch was hard on her paws.
