What is your opinion of closed species?I've always had mixed feelings about this. ;u; I see a lot of my opinions echoed by other users,
but I figured I'd throw my two cents in as well.
Honestly I love the idea of them. I think challenging ourselves to think up something new and
different is a beautiful thing. It encourages some artists to branch out and try new drawing
techniques/anatomy they may have otherwise ignored. That being said, I do think that a
lot of closed species are too similar. Which is aprtially the fault of those who want the species,
since nearly every 'Species wanted' contest I see is based on a feline, canine or dragon type standard.
Like you can vary body structure and all, but they're still going to look fairly similar. My FAVORITE thing
about closed species is artist style. Ospreybutt on here has a super cool unique style and they're honestly
so talented.
But I digress. I've always wanted to be a part of a community, like many of those that closed species have,
but I never felt accepted. The competition, though sometimes fun, seemed to get out of hand really fast.
I love the idea of big fun groups but I feel that with some closed species it's all about profit. And I think that
bothers me the most, because I'd rather have fun that profit. Plus the level of greed I've seen can get waaaayyy
out of hand. To see how much some go for while I'm struggling to try to find money for college is like... did we
lose sight of what really matters in life?
I fully support closed species regardless of the cons. I think that it can really make an artists career and
help with a lot of artist blocks. Everything has it's downsides, but I don't think they should stop you from enjoying
something you like. If you want to make 10000s of cat species, go ahead! They're fun! Just don't get huffy at someone
who's concept looks similar, since cats/dogs/wolves etc are all common. I think we all just need to love each
other a little more and bridge differences in a respectful manner.
I have an art/character related question, also! ;u;

Any advice for drawing cute characters?
I CANNNOOOOTTTT for the life of me make cute things. I wouldn't call myself a realistic artist as my
style is really sketchy and cartoony, but I can't seem to make anything come out looking cute and soft,
or even smooth. And I feel like my problem lies with the eyes.. But I'd reallly love some input. Which would
lead me to another question because it's a fun one. X3

Do you have any 'cutesy' characters? Show 1 or 2 off, with artist credit!

Found this girl, I honestly don't even remember making her. X3 She's pretty cute though
