Shadow's legs started to hurt so he laid down panting

Silverfang's sad thoughts were interrupted by the tiny sounds of a puppy moving. Soft, clumsy pawsteps increased in volume until a soft thump told her that the puppy had sat down. She knew, even without looking, who it was.
"Truth? You're up early."
Silverfang's little ex-runt settled himself down next to her head and stared at the sunset for awhile. After a few moments of silence he licked her tear-stained cheek.
"Mother... you were sad again..."
