Raize

Age: 4 years
Gender: fae/female
Crush: Stasha
Location: Within camp
Tagged: Khalon
Light streamed in from the outside world, lighting the auburn and gold fur of a wolf. The steady rise and fall of her chest was interrupted as a cool breeze ruffled her coat. The huntress's lean body shifted as her eyelids lifted drowsily, still trapped in sleep.

"I can't believe it's already morning." Raize groaned in contempt at the soreness in her legs. It had taken twice as long to find a deer yesterday due to the coming of winter, and even longer to catch it. But alas, it was worth it.

Rising to her paws, the red wolf stretched out her limbs and shook off the dust from her fur. On instinct, Raize's jaws parted to take in the glorious fresh morning scents. Fully awake and alert, the fae took a few strides into the sun, warming her body. Her sharp eyesight caught onto the grey pelt of her beta, and she loped over to greet him. "Morning, Khalon." Called Raize, giving a slight dip of her head in respect. Suddenly realizing he was eating a hare for breakfast, she cast an uncertain glance towards the deer carcass. "Why do you choose the hare over the deer?" She asked, her head slightly tilted in a questioning manner, no disrespect intended.

There was no doubt, Quinn loved the morning. This was good, considering her rank required copious accounts of times scouting the woods surrounding their territory. Seeing as a threat to the pack could occur at any hour of the day, there was barely a time when the fae wasn't out and about. Sleep? What even is that? she thought with a chuckle, stifling a yawn as she continued on her usual morning patrol through the woods.

Like usual, the scout so far included wandering through seemingly empty trees. Not that listening to the sound of your own paw prints as they crunched over dry leaf litter wasn't fun [to be perfectly honest, Quinn quite enjoyed the peace an serenity of it all], however she would have liked some company every once and a while. But there was no point in complaining. Anyways, who would be there to listen? The birds? Ha, that was a laugh, considering they were a source of food. Sometimes she wondered what it would feel like to have wings, instead of four paws and a tail. Quinn tried not to dwell on that kind of thinking though, as luck would have it, she was a wolf. Not that that was a bad thing, and there was much worse things then that. Still, it was not a crime to wonder.

Today was going to be a good day. That much Tholl could tell after the first few moments of awakening. Blinking open his amber eyes, the loner waited for a moment, listening. It was quite. Too quite. Usually when the darker, more ominous sounds were to dominate the day, they would begin the moment he awoke. Wails, groans, moans, cries of agony, scoldings of his past pack and family. Anything to disturb him more than he was already disturbed. Then, as if his thoughts were jinxed, an excited, puplike voice pierced his eardrums. Hey Tholl! What are we doing today? Are we going exploring? That sound was so familiar Tholl didn't even have to think. Good morning Todd, he rasped, his voice dry and hoarse from lack of water and usage, however filled with happiness. He missed his apprentice, and he couldn't recall the last time he had spoken. And, although he knew these voices couldn't possibly be real, for his apprentice had left with all the others and had perished. But, whom knew when he'd actually speak to a flesh and blood wolf. Many could just look at him and know something was wrong with him by his body language and his painful looking scar, so why not speak to his only friend?

Are we going hunting today? This time Tholl didn't respond immediately, for he was releasing a large, lazy yawn, his eyes shut tightly as he enjoyed the peaceful sound of an excited pup. Something he would probably never hear again; what pack would accept him, let alone let them get close to their young ones? Of course - wouldn't want to skip breakfast, the loner said once he finished his yawn, finally standing up and stretching out his stiff body. Shaking out his pelt a bit, the large brown finally emerged out of the abandoned fox den he had spent the morning residing in, his amber eyes immediately narrowing even more than usual against the bright sunlight that poured through the trees. Beautiful golden leaves were abundant, coating the ground in each direction for as far as he could see. The air was nice and cool. Such a beautiful morning it was, if only weather like this could last forever. As always, his mature little apprentice whispered, We have to be careful, don't we? Winter's coming soon. Yes, and we have to stray closer to pack territory to hunt, Tholl murmured softly, trotting away from his temporary dwelling and into the forest, his nose twitching as he sniffed for prey. His little apprentice's voice remained silent for awhile as Tholl attempted to pick up a scent.

Yet as he did, his thoughts began to wander. Tracking was a part he could do without - he almost always grew bored, and whenever he caught wind of another wolf - especially a pack wolf - he got extremely nervous. Now hunting he loved. It was by far his second strongest suit, and had used to be one his favorite thing to do. There was nothing like the thrill of chasing his quarry, catching it, and delivering it to his family, knowing he had done his task well. But that was how it used to be. Tholl's ears flattened in sadness as he thought of the good old days. Now, he was hunting for himself, no one else. Todd didn't exist anymore... at least not in physical form. But I'm still here. The loner slowly lifted his head, trying to regain his concentration, only for his keen orbs to rest on a medium sized rabbit no grazing far away. I know, Tholl murmured softly, his gaze still on his quarry. Crouching immediately thereafter that statement, he tensed his muscles. But he couldn't help but wonder - was he truly crazy? That his sweet little apprentice's voice was an figment of his imagination?

But in that case, how did he know anything was real? Hesitating for just a split second, Tholl shifted his weight. A rookie mistake. The rabbit's ears shot up and it took off into the golden forest. Although his hunt was for the most part ruined, the schizophrenic loner had nothing else to do with his time. So, he gave chase. Tholl, with his thick build didn't have the best stamina, however his short burst of speed brought him within two stride off the rabbit. But, albeit the hesitation ruined his hunt, and the rabbit disappeared into a nearby treeline. Stopping to catch his breath, Tholl's eyes widened as many scents suddenly entered his nostrils. We're in pack territory, aren't we? Little Todd sounded so panicked. About as panicked as he felt, but Tholl was not about to let onto that. Yes, we are, but it doesn't guarantee death, the loner said, padding onward slowly and warily. I need some water, then I'll be on my way. None of these scents appear to be fresh, so I still have a chance of getting out of here undetected.

The ears of a young student flicked up excitedly as she woke. She raised her head and scanned the camp for her teacher's mixture of fur colors. Quinn didn't seem to be there. She'd hoped she could catch her this time, but it seems she was late. Maybe not too late?

Permafrost got up on her paws and walked through the camp, glancing at the kill pile along the way. Stocked. That's almost suprising, considering it was autumn, but then again, it was only autumn. She circled around from her journey, suddenly too lazy to go searching for her teacher, and pulled a bird out from under a large deer to eat. As she ate, she turned her ears in many directions, picking up bits of conversation as the wolves in her pack greeted eachother for the morning.

Freya heard voices not far away as she finished up her breakfast and raised her head. Her ears were fully erect on top of her head, her amber eyes searching for the source of the voice. She saw a shadow not far away and stalked in the bushes until she saw him.

The lightly colored Fae smelled his scent as she watched him and sneezed. Still watching him from the brush she hoped he wouldn't hear her. She watched him curiously, her ears flat against her head and her tail swayed as she began to grow thirsty.

Acheron was awake long before dawn, doing his morning rounds of the perimeter was always calming so he preferred to do them alone. The sounds of the woods surrounded him as he ran faster and faster through the trees, the scents flying by. This was his world, his life, running was his joy. As he was making a turn a scent stopped him in his tracks. Someone was nearby, and not someone from his pack. Acheron looked around, identifying what direction the scent was coming from. When he pinpointed it, he followed, his steps light and swift on the ground beneath him. He remembered being a young wolf and practicing stepping without a sound. He had honed that skill to perfection just for a time like this.
As he walked, the scent got stronger and stronger until he noticed the white fae. He had not been spotted yet, but the sound of her voice made him jump. Crouching low, Acheron watched her momentarily, deciding just what to do about her.

Nephthys awoke with a yawn, her black pelt being warmed by the rays of sun around her. She was never one for sleeping in dens if she didn't have to, the confined space made her skittish. But as she stretched lazily in the morning light she noticed the movement around her. The pack was waking, and she must have slept longer than most. Shrugging, she rose, yawning again. The morning was never her favorite, and most of the pack knew not to talk to her for a few hours yet, as she was known for being grumpy. Nephthys padded silently to the kill pile, lowing her head slightly, but respectfully, at her Beta, but otherwise ignoring the wolves around her.

Ranowyn walked leisurely through the trees around him, admiring the colors of the leaves as he did. He knew he was on pack territory, but wasn't particularly worried about the pack. as he walked he picked up the slight scent of a rabbit and his stomach rumbled. being a loner but also a bad hunter has never been good for the brute, since his last meal was at least two days ago. Taking a breath, he followed the scent, hoping not to lose the rabbit. As he followed, he kept his ears perked for anyone else around him who might notice the scent also, he was not about to lose his food to someone else. When the rabbit came in sight, he sighed with relief. The rabbit was facing away, in a clump of roots. As he crept up on the rabbit he stepped on a small twig, he froze. the rabbit perked up but seemed to not be perturbed by the sound, so he crept slowly closer again. When he got a few feet away he put on a burst of speed, catching the rabbit by the neck. The young brutes satisfaction rose and he sat down to enjoy his meal.

She watched as the rabbit she was stalking was just murdered and jumped out of the tree she was hiding in. "Dang"[ she yipped.

A smile peeled at her lips and she nodded at Ranowyn
"hi." she said, her voice had an edge and she stared straight at him. Curiosity nipping at her insides.

Continuing on his usual way, Tholl sensed nothing unusual. After all, no scents were wafting his way, but it was early. The heavy mist blanketed everything, and there was no strong winds - just slight, pleasant breezes. Ideal if it had not been so misty. It's not that misty, came the chiding voice of Todd. Tholl chuckled. Mm, maybe not for you, but for an oldie like me? Please, he rumbled playfully, his downcast spirits perking up a little. How could one not cheer up at the voice, that was, if they could hear it?

But his merriment was short lived. Just as he was about to take another step forward he heard a sneeze. Rabbits, birds, bears, nothing sneezed like that. Only another wolf. Freezing in his place, his ears flattened, and his muscles tensed. Tholl remained that way for a few seconds, his ears fully erect as he listened. No more sounds, but his amber eyes locked on creamy fur barely showing through the golden hue of the bush. There's someone watching, his inner conscience said, for once not a voice. Lupus help me. Tholl's mouth suddenly felt dry. He was on pack territory, being watched. Nervousness settled in his stomach. Why wasn't the stranger approaching? Usually pack wolves approached and demanded an explanation. Why was he just being watched? Maybe it's another rogue. Todd whispered. Yeah, that's a possibility. Don't panic, play it safe, Tholl thought, before clearing his throat. Lowering his ears a bit, he kept his eyes on the bush, ready to flee or fight necessary, preferably the former. Who's there? Tholl called out, his somewhat deep voice not revealing his nervousness. Thank Lupus for proper training.

Varien had been up for awhile. Not hunting, no resting and gazing at the beautiful autumn. He had been out, a few mere meters away from the entrance of the camp. Training in the art of combat. It was his greatest strength indeed, hunting being a very close second. However, his greatest strength had a glaring weaknesses. The bane of his existence, his cursed left eye. The pearl student knew it was his greatest weakness, not only in fighting or hunting, but in tracking as well. He relied heftily on his other senses, which in turn would make sense. However, if a more experience opponent realized - which, of course, they would - he would no doubt be slew for his weakness.

So he was working on it. His mentor wasn't awake yet, and Varien had no intentions of waiting for him, or going out with another wolf. Considering today he had awoken with the left side of his face hurting - yes, it hurt from time to time, although he never told anyone just as he had never told them how he'd gotten it - he felt even more agitated and aggressive than usual. And no, he didn't feel like hearing his mentor or alpha's scoldings if he released what they would call a 'snide' or 'inappropriate' comment at another wolves expense. So, he was putting his efforts to a more rewarding task - training. Sparring with invisible figures, practice his snaps and evades and quick bites. Whenever his mentor awoke, Varien would hear it. His mentor was a very cordial, popular wolf, contrary to himself. Good mornings and greetings were sure to flow abundantly, and Varien would hear every last one of them. Then, he could recieve his assignment for the day. Narrowing his single right chocolate eye, the silver wolf lunged forward at an invisible opponent with surprising speed and strength for one of his build, his jaws snapping so hard around his imaginary 'opponent' that they could be hard making contact together. It wasn't hard to see something was bothering him, for he was never so 'barbaric'. However, lucky Varien, no one was around to question him on his odd behavior.

She slowly crawled out of the bushes, embarrassed by being caught she whimpered and tilted her head in curiosity. who are you? she thought. She wanted to speak but she didn't. Her ears stood fully erect on her head and she kept the distance between them. She stood completely still. Though, not
submissively, in case he wanted a fight.

"Good morning Raize" he greeted, offering his pack mate a welcoming smile. He perked his ears when she asked about his choice in kill, and with a small grin and a shrug looked at the carcass at his paws, "I thought that i would leave it for somebody else. Plus I never have much of an appetite in the morning. A hare would do just fine" He explained, offering her a wary smile. Sometimes he just spoke a bit too much. hopefully he hadn't done just that. he was never really functioning at 100% until after he had gone out in the forest to run around a bit or go on a quick hunt or something.

{ I am VERY sorry about how short this is.
