WildClan -Shadows Within- (ACCEPTING)

Ambergaze looked at the two cats, struggling to push herself up. How convenient. She thought. I think my paw is actually hurt. Thanks, I guess. Once she managed to stand, she dipped her head at Sunpaw. "T-Thank you f-for helping me. I-I'm sorry you had to."

Bluntfang bared his teeth at Kinktail. "How dare you speak to your clanmate with such disrespect. Ambergaze is a member of the clan, an injured member of the clan nonetheless." He lashed his tail. No cat knew how Bluntfang had ended up a Shadow, only that when angry he was a force to be reckoned with. The dark tabby had learned many lessons in his time as a Shadow, one might go as far as to say that when it came to it he would choose the living cats over the dead, and this was why the leaders had put him in charge of keeping peace between the two halves of the clan.

Sunpaw fluffed up her fur. "No she wasn't! She was picking on Ambergaze! She called her all kinds of nasty stuff!" the tiny apprentice accused.

Spiritfire stiffened. He remembered hearing stories of how Dragonsong had been preaching some mousedung at the Haven or whatever she'd been staying in. He scoffed ad stiffened. "Just be grateful for what we have!" he snapped. Then he sighed. He knew he'd been too harsh, but he felt that the Shadows had done so much for the clan. And one Shadow, Cuckooclaw had been like a father to him.

Kinktail continued grooming herself. "She's entirely useless, and I was bored." She yawned, ignoring Bluntfang's aggressive response. "Maybe you're willing to lick the ground in front of the living ones' paws, but I remember how hard we had to fight to earn this place among the living. To the victors go the spoils, though for some reason some Shadows seem to have forgotten the way the living ones always rejected us." She made no change in tone to indicate that she was talking about Sunpaw, Bluntfang and the leaders, choosing safety in vagueness. She was angry and vicious, but overall a coward.

"Well, part of learning to be a warrior is learning how to be aware of your surroundings. Although I will admit, I would not have seen him coming either." Eagleheart chuckled. "Don't worry about it, Boapaw, this many interruptions is very unusual. If you get back to it I doubt we'll see much more trouble. Unless you'd rather stop for today, and we can switch to battle training or something." He sat with his tail curled around his paws, watching his apprentice thoughtfully.

Dawnpaw jumped and flattened her ears. "Yes Spiritfire." She meowed immediately, automatically. She knew she'd gone too far. Sure, Spiritfire was a living cat like her, but she'd forgotten that it wasn't so easy to tell who was on what side anymore. "All I meant was, I, I never experienced the hard times so obviously I don't have the same appreciation for what the Shadows gave us." She stammered. "Um. So how would I catch a squirrel?"

(Not accepted. It says clearly in the rules to put the codeword in the 'other' section on the form. Also the SHadows have been in the camp for over a year and a half, since then no deaths or illness have occurred therefore his parents cannot be dead. I also said no near death experiences!)

(Can everyone please tell me whose side their cat's are on? I need to know for the future *has things planned*)

Bluntfang lashed his tail. "Tempeststar will hear of this," he spat. "These cats are ours to look after," he added befre ushering away Sunpaw and Ambergaze.

Boapaw nodded. "I want to learn to hunt befre I fight," she told her mentor.

Spiritfire sighed through his nose. "No, I'm sorry. You were born in a different time and a different place. You didn't have to go through hell to get what we have now. I can't possibly expect you to understand," he apologised.

((Shadowpatch is against Shadows but wayyyy too cowardly to do anything about it, Eagleheart is definitely against the Shadows but despite Dawnpaw's similar views he keeps her away from any rebellion that might happen if he can. And Kinktail is for the Shadows, but only because it's her opportunity for revenge.))

Kinktail rolled her eyes. "Ohh, I'm shaking." She muttered, slinking away to go hunting. She supposed she'd have to figure out a more creative way to take revenge on the living cats, and she did her best thinking on her own in the forest.

"Well then, go on." Eagleheart mewed with a smile. "The birds are flying away." His eyes flickered across her face as he thought. He just couldn't help wondering a bit about her parentage. It was rude, he was probably wrong, he knew, but when the questions just seemed to spring out at him from her fur, her habits, everything, he had to think the questions.

"No, I should appreciate it more. I have to maintain what you all worked so hard for." Dawnpaw mewed. "Please, let's just get to training." She had an uncomfortable feeling in the pit of her stomach, and she didn't think she would be totally honest with Spiritfire about her feelings from then on. No matter how kind some Shadows were, she couldn't forget how her father used to talk about them.

Boapaw nodded and stalked back off to find more birds to catch. After a long few minutes she had caught two starlings.

Spiritfire nodded. "To catch squirrels you have to be fast. Their bushy tail and think body means that they can move as fast as us. Hunting in pairs is usually best for squirrels. If the squirrel is on the ground, I find it best to approach it from behind to the side. Like this." He set a large crinkled dead leaf in the middle of the clearing, he crouched down and stalked into range then leaped on top of it. "It's best to jump and het them before they move."

As Eagleheart watched Boapaw, he resolved to ask Crystalheart about Boapaw. Subtly. If he could manage it. "You're doing extremely well, Boapaw. Would you like to take a short break back at camp? We can pick up training right after. I just don't want you wearing yourself out. I'll help you carry your catch back."

Dawnpaw nodded and crouched, imitating the move. She was a bit slow, but she got the leaf from the angle she had been trying for, her claws piercing small holes in the dead brown target. "Like that?" She asked, looking up at Spiritfire. "And is there a trick to hunting them in pairs?"
