Tehe update and double post....finally went to Tractor Supply Company today...got the Mustang mare and foal set. They didn't have Jessie, which I was expecting. Also they were having a 40% off sale on breyer (good things come to those who wait, I guess!), so I also got the Dartmoor mare and foal set and two stablemates..looks like i'm congaing the haflinger mare :D

Do you guys have any congas? :)
PM me for anything!

I got rid of all my breyers, so I'm starting fresh with a Traditional collection. I don't have any congas, but if I were to start one, I'd want it to be the othello or irish drafter molds. With lots of customs. lol

I conga the Smart Chic Olena mold. I currently have 15 different ones. I am always looking to add more and I have lately been searching for the American Quarter Horse Congress ones.

Speckled why did you get rid of your Breyers? Wanted to start fresh?
I still have my MLPs from my childhood lol, I can't bear to part with my horses & ponies.

So I have confirmed the Schleich horse I have a duplicate of, and have been checking up tutorial sites for customising Breyers since they seem to be much more popular - many start with sanding though. Do you think it's ok to repaint a Schleich without sanding? I don't plan to show him or anything so the logo at the bottom doesn't really bother me but I'm wondering if there are other reasons one sands. I'm just afraid of ruining the lovely coat texture he has.

As for colours I'm still thinking about a black leopard appaloosa, I'll practice painting the spots on paper first as I'll probably be using acrylics after the oils have dried and acrylics dry super fast so I don't want to mess them up. For the oils I'm going to try painting straight from the tube rather than mixing with linseed oil or turps, I'm hoping to blend as I paint so only do one layer of oils but since it's a pinto I'm covering I guess I'll have to do a priming layer of white first - I'll give it a long time to dry so hopefully it won't be a problem. I might paint something on a canvas with the oils first though, to get a feel for them before trying them out on a model horse.

On an unrelated note, I have two stablemate breyers still in their plastic packaging from when I bought them a few years ago. Should I continue to keep them in this, or is it bad for them to stay in there? I think it's these ones:
Black Appy Mustang
Light Grey Peruvian Paso

Yeah, to start fresh, and for space. I'm getting an apartment soon, and I didn't want them to sit in storage. Also selling them helped pay off vet bills. :)

It should be totally ok to repaint a schleich without sanding, but it may be difficult with the texture, so if you use acrylics- I recommend a small brush so that the paint doesn't accidentally go where you don't want it to go.

About the stablemates in the original bags, as long as they aren't in a hot place- they should be ok. But since the bags are plastic, make sure they aren't anywhere hot, because the plastic can melt onto the horse, or there can be some rubbing from the plastic.

I need more space, half of my schleich horses are in a box :c
My breyers are on display with the other half though.

Glad to hear I don't have to sand, thank you for the help!

Australia's always hot but they are in a glass cabinet and have been for some time so hopefully should be ok. I'll check them out later and if they are showing signs of rubbing I'll take them out. It's nice having them in the packaging since they are easy to see and I feel like they are more protected there. I took my other stablemate pair out because they came with a mystery foal that was hidden by the box. The baby turned out to be a real cutie <3

On an unrelated note, I just got my first tattoo like 20 min ago!!
Its an outline of Australia, for my best friend that lives there.

We were planning on getting a picture of a horse on the inside of the outline, but I'm not sure anymore because mine is about the size of my palm.

Which brings me to the idea of getting another tattoo, but of a horse- and using Breyer as a reference! I'd really wanna get Trooper as a tattoo.
Who would you guys get as a tattoo?

@dalmation. -I haven't seen the new mold :( I hear dapples and I'm curious if they will do them right. I know most of breyers dapples usually look like fish scales. So I'm excited to see if they do them right this time <3 AND I wish I could go, that'd be super cool. <3 Super expensive I hear too. I wanna meet some horses tho, so maybe it's worth it. Just not this year.
