Rams, specifically Blue, would probably fair well in the mix. Cherry Barbs would also get along good, but they can be a little nippy occasionally. The best bet would be probably just an assortment of tetras. Cardinals, Diamonds, Glowlights, Bloodfins are also a great choice.

I haven't posted in a while (sorry) But I was wondering if anyone had any good stocking ideas for my 37 gallon tank? I'm planning to move all my mollies (7) from my 37 to my 23 gallon, along with a betta. I was thinking a nice community. The only problem is no one in my area sells nice fish for under 5$ (I mean, my mollies costed 3$). I know for sure I'm going to have some corries, probably some pandas (or if the store doesn't have them) Melini corries. I'll do a group of about 6 or so. I can't think of anything else though.

So Ive FINALLY gotten rid of my convict cichlids, which were a terror and always breeding. anything that was in that tank were pretty brutally attacked, including my bichir. ugh. I didnt think id ever get rid of them. finally pawned them off on the pet store after a deep clean.

so, im pretty excited to start restocking again, but I need some ideas. the tank is 55 gallon, but will be upgraded as soon as i get my hands on a new tank. Im actively looking for a new tank, preferably 150 gallons. i dont really want to go less than that.

Already in the tank:

* 9in senegal bichir
* 7in endlicheri bichir
* 6in Ornate bichir (soon. currently in the grow out tank)
* 2 Lg angelfish
* 5in clown knife
* 2 Lg pear gouramis
* 4 Giant danios
* 5 buenos aires tetras

Im also planning on getting 3 more bichir; an albino Senegal, a Nile and a Teugelsi. the Albino Senegal will be in the next couple of weeks but the Nile and Teugelsi probably wont be for a little while since they need to be special ordered. all of these will also start in the grow out tank and will be there for a few months at least. I plan to have the new tank before the bichir are big enough to leave the grow out tank.

some requirements for new fish:

* no cichlids. angels are pretty much the only type i like at this point, and ive already got 2, which is plenty.
* they need to be fairly large or they will become food for the bichir. the bichir are not aggressive, they dont actively go after larger fish, but if it can fit in their mouth, they will eat it, or at least attempt to, which usually results in death to the fish.
* they cant eat live plants. the tank is planted, no fake plants. I had this problem with my cichlid tank, which was one reason i ended my cichlid tank. I really enjoy live plants and really hate fake plants.
*non aggressive, or at least not super aggressive. despite the size of the bichir and the fact that they eat live fish, they really arent aggressive, they dont nip at fish or terrorize them. in fact, when my cichlids were breeding, at first i figured, free food! but the bichir wont touch them. even after the parent fish stopped protecting them, even if they swam in front of their face, they wouldnt touch them. thats why it was getting a bit out of hand. since the bichir are most important to me (my senegal is over 2 years old, ive had him since he was just a couple inches, the endli is over a year old and the ornate was a hefty $40 for 2.5 in), its really a big thing that they are not picked on.

Tetras are shoaling fish that need to be in groups of their own species. A 15 gallon is not large enough for an assortment of different shoals. You can't have one cardinal, one glowlight, one neon, one lemon, one bleeding heart, and one white skirt. That's not a shoal.

Lonin, I recommend pencilfish. They're a South American species like rummynose so they share more or less the same water parameter requirements. I like this article about them: http://www.tfhmagazine.com/details/arti ... ilfish.htm

It depends what size your tank is?

Snow is actually getting some color. She now has a few tiny black spots. I wonder if it'll continue. c:
