Remiel is a quiet and more reserved child, as he doesn’t really get out in social places very often. He does however, love the outdoors, and it is almost rare to see him inside if the weather outside is acceptable to play in. Remi loves exploring and wandering around in the woods on the mountain where he lives, and his adventures often take him much farther from the house than his mothers would like him to go. But, of course, he doesn’t tell them that when he goes out (better to spare them the worry). Thankfully, Remiel has a good sense of direction, or else he would get lost quite often. Remi is very close to his family and loves them with all of his heart. He would do anything to make them smile and would even resort to lying if their happiness was at stake. Remiel’s biggest fear is that his family will stop loving him (even though they never would, this fear is deeply rooted within Remi and frequently affects his actions). He often keeps secrets from his family because of this, as he thinks it might hurt his relationship with them. Remi is often very somatic with his family as he considers physical contact the highest form of expressing love. Because of this, Remi is always up for snuggles, even if the other party is not so sure about it. Remiel is very curious about learning, and will listen to someone talk about a subject he may not even be interested in (even if the conversation is an hour long) just because he admires their knowledge and passion about the topic. In certain situations, Remiel will overanalyze little things as he has a hard time seeing the big picture because of his attention to detail.

When I was about five, I was convinced that I could visit other’s dreams and help them through their nightmares.
Every night, I visited my family in their dreams. My mother Loni dreamed of nature and soaring high above
the trees like a bird with colorful wings. My mother Sofi dreamed of me and my sister, and watching us play
together in the woods. My sister dreamt of being in her video games, she often battles the enemy as the main
character of the story. And myself? I watched them. I dreamt of things individually of course, but I never
enjoyed those dreams as much as I did where I watched the dreams of my family play out in front of my eyes.
It was personal on a level I didn’t understand, but I knew that it was a special ability.

I didn’t tell my family. I was too scared that they would laugh at me and tell me that I was foolish to think
such things. They never would have said things like that, but my irrational fear kept me from realizing it.
However, I did tell my best friend, Milo. He was always there for me, and I knew I could tell him anything.
He always seemed to the the best in people, and tried not to judge anyone before getting to know them. Milo
was always attentive when I told him about my dreams, he said I was lucky to have dreams like that, and
that they would make great stories. They did in fact make great stories, as Milo often included aspects from
them in his books. He never questioned my theory about me being a dreamwalker, but one day he made me
realize that maybe I was looking at the truth in the wrong way.

“Remi… I know how important it is to you that you’re a dreamwalker, but have you ever thought about your
dreams just being reflections of what you think your family’s dreams are like?” Milo asked curiously. I had
honestly never thought of my ability that way… perhaps I was only making up the dreams that I thought my
family would have. Maybe the dreams that I thought I visited were just the figments of my imagination.
I shook my head in response.

“Well, I was looking it up the other day, and I think you might just be a lucid dreamer, which means you
control your own dreams.” I nod, urging Milo to go on. I knew he was slightly reluctant to continue, fearing
he might anger me, but I was not angry, I was curious and interested in what he had to say.

“I think that you have just been making these things up in your own dreamscape, and you’re not actually
visiting other’s dreams.” Milo was incredibly smart for his age… and I admired that, especially now. Even
though he was only a few years older than me, I looked up to him as a role model.

“That makes sense.” I said, still deep in thought. Milo seemed relieved at my response, and he smiled at me.

“It’s still pretty neat that you can control your dreams, bro. And from what you’ve told me, you’re pretty good at it.”

Ever since that day, I have accepted the fact that I am not a dreamwalker... The title of lucid dreamer was new and had it’s share of excitement associated with it, but it died off after a while. However, I was still interested in dreams, their meanings, and legends surrounding them. This phase would slowly die out as well, but it left a new passion for me to indulge in: the art of making dreamcatchers.

Although all the dreamcatchers I own hold value, the first few are the ones that mean the most to me. The first, a centerpiece to my mobile as a child. I was too young to develop memories at that time, but the dreamcatcher evokes feelings that might as well serve as memories. The second was a gift from my Nana, Asariel. She had made it herself and given it to me for my ‘collection’. After I had took the trinket up to my room and placed it beside the first, I came down to see that Asariel had spread out supplies to teach us how to make dreamcatchers.

The third was originally my sister’s. She made it when Asa was teaching us how, and later gave it to me. I have over fifteen dreamcatchers now, but the first three will always hold a special place in my heart and on my wall.

Image

Image
A dreamcatcher spun just above his bed
for the little boy to watch as he laid down his head.
He would giggle at the mobile and it’s shimmering chimes;
the little brown plumie with the blue and white eyes.

His mother, Loni, looks on with a grin.
staring lovingly at the child laid atop a deerskin.
Such a sweet little child with eyes all aglow
what a wonderful gift that nature did bestow!

He was so small, so fragile, so sweet
and yet he made her feel as if her life was complete.
Then Sofi came in with the little boy’s sis,
for this was a moment that they simply couldn’t miss.

The little boy turned and smiled at his sister
she answered with a grin and a quiet little whisper:
“I love you, little brother, I’ll never let you go.”
He stared at her with big eyes that simply seemed to glow.

Although he was so small, he seemed to understand
his sister’s vow to protect him and lend a helping hand.
The mothers held their two children in a warm and loving embrace
and thus formed the memory that time could never erase.

“Asariel!” Remi squealed with excitement. Cat looked over the back
of the sofa and waved before returning to her game. Remi hopped up off
the couch and motioned for Cat to follow. Both children knew that whenever
their grandmother Asa came over, she often brought some sort of gift,
whether it be handy or homemade trinkets, but Cat had almost beaten the
boss in her game, and at the moment, her priorities laid with the game.

“Hello you two!” Asariel said happily. “Before you ask, yes, I did bring
treats.” Remi’s eyes grew bigger at the word ‘treats’. Nana brought the
best gifts, and they always had a special value to them.

“C’mon Cat!” Remi whispered to his sister excitedly--she was still halfway
engrossed in her game despite Remi trying to shake her out of it. Cat
reluctantly paused the game and hopped up as well, following Remiel to
give Asariel a big welcome hug.

“Good morning Asa, I’m glad you’re here!” Loni said from the kitchen.
Although the kids were usually pretty good, she was always grateful to
have some extra help. Asariel replied only with a big smile, as she was
thoroughly enjoying the hugs she was receiving from her two grandchildren.
Loni couldn’t help but chuckle at the scene.

“I’ll go see how Sofiel is feeling, she might like to see you.” Loni said,
starting up the stairs to her wife’s room.

“I know you two are excited, so I’ll go ahead and give you your presents.”
Asa said, her voice barely above a whisper. Remi and Cat giggled, moving
back to allow their grandmother room for her to open her bag and reveal
their gifts.

“Who wants to go first?” Asa asked. Catori’s paw instantly shot up in the air.
Asa nodded and reached in her bag, pulling out a flower crown made of blue
and black shimmering roses. Cat’s eyes widened at the sight of the headpiece,
and she eagerly took it and placed it on her head.

“Thank you so much Elisi! It’s beautiful!” Cat said with admiration.

“It complements your eyes.” Remi said with a smile.

“Now Remi, I made you something super special…” Asa said softly, pulling out
a small trinket from her bag. A dreamcatcher.
Image

Image
“For your collection, dear.”

“Nana… it’s amazing. Did you make it?” Remiel questioned,
staring at the dreamcatcher in awe.

“Yes, I can show you how to make them as well if you
would like.” Remi nodded frantically and Asariel laughed.

“Anyways, I knew you liked dreamcatchers, and I thought
I’d make one for you to put beside the one you have.” Asa
smiled and handed the trinket to her grandson, who was
beside himself with happiness.

“Wow, thank you so much!” Remi grinned and hugged his
grandmother a second time.

“You’re very welcome. Now, I’ve got all the supplies in my
bag. How about I teach you how to make them right now?”

Image

“You can have it, really. I can make another one for myself.”
Cat smiled at her little brother. She knew it would mean more
to Remi to have the dreamcatcher rather than she herself keep
it. Besides, she could make another one later, as Elisi had
brought extra material for the two so they could make multiple
dreamcatchers if they so desired.

“But sis, this was the first one you ever made, don’t you want to
keep it for memories sake?” Remi asked, still reluctant to accept
his sister’s gift. Cat shook her head.

“It would probably mean more to you than it does to me.” She
handed to little dreamcatcher to Remiel with a smile.

“T-thank you.” Remi stared down at the craft which had only been
made an hour or so ago. It was beautifully made, traditional but
unique in it’s own way. Cat had tied the strings together so they
looked like a constellation, rather than the usual spiderweb pattern,
and colorful wooden beads were scattered in the netting. She had
done a remarkable job with the embellishments as well. The strings
that hung from the hoop were tied in a fancy pattern, the feathers
dangling below. “I’ll take good care of it sis.”

“I know you will, Remi.”

“And then you fold it like this…” I fold my paper slowly,
bringing the corner to the center crease. Momma observes
and then she does the same.

“Good job!” I say with a smile. I had been wanting to teach my
Momma Sofi how to make paper cranes for a few weeks now,
but she hadn’t felt well enough to do it until today. We both
wanted to spend more time with each other, but it just
wasn’t possible at the moment. Even so, I was immensely
grateful for every moment I did get to spend with her.

Image

I do a few more simple folds and Momma does as well. She was doing really
good for her first origami crane, way better than I had done.

“And now you tuck this flap under and you’re done!” I finish my own crane and
Momma finishes hers. She places it carefully beside my smaller crane and grins.

“It’s Momma crane and baby crane; me and you!” She remarks happily.
I nod and snuggle up closer to her.

“I’m really glad you like doing these little paper birds, it’s a neat little hobby
to have. I bet you could sell these and make some money like you do with your
dreamcatchers.” She says quietly.

“I plan to! They make good decorations. With patterned paper they are even
prettier.” I motion to the our construction paper cranes that I had attempted
to pattern myself with crayons. Momma smiles.

“I’ll tell Loni to get you some the next time she goes to the store.”

“Aww thanks Momma! I can make you some more cranes to decorate your room
with!” Momma giggles and pulls me to her chest.

“I’m sure you’ll make the prettiest paper cranes this forest has ever seen.”

“Lift your wrists Remi, you have to be gentle with the keys, even when you are playing an intense piece.” Hato corrects his grandson firmly, but in a caring way. Remi nods and tries again, watching his hands as they move gracefully across the ivory keys of the grand piano. He glances up at the music only a few times, but playing confidently, as he knew the music like the back of his hands.

Hato hums along with the tune, a wide smile spread across his face. Remi played extremely well for his age, and this song really showed his talent. For River, that was the name of it… Remi had said it was from a game that he had watched Catori play. Beautiful song, a masterpiece really. Remi did it justice as well. He felt the melody, like his mother. He played with the sheet music in the beginning, but then let his feelings take the lead. Hato couldn’t be prouder of the little maestro. Remi ended the song peacefully, leaving out the final chord, giving the performance a sense of incompletion. Hato clapped softly and embraced his grandson.

“You’re really improving. I think that someday you might even be better than I am.” Hato chucked. Remi looked up at him with a sense of wonder, but said nothing. He admired his grandpapa greatly, and every encouraging word from him took Remi to the moon. Someday, Pappy… one day a long, long time from now, maybe, just maybe, I will have the privilege to be as wise and skilled as you.

Remi shook his head, trying to rid his antlers accessory of the birds who happened to be perched on them. He didn’t mind the little creatures, as he liked their songs, but when and if the fowl started pooping on his head, he’d rather not have them there. Mother would fuss if he came home with bird poop all over his hair, so whenever this did happen, it was necessity to find a stream to wash it off.

The young plumie made his way to a small creek a few minutes out from where he had settled down to read, leaving his book under a small bush. It was common for him to go out into the woods to read or to nap, nature was calming and quiet in a way that couldn’t be mimicked in his own home. The sounds of the woods were much less noticeable when reading than the beeps and boops of Catori’s video games. It was nice to get out of the house as well; Remi often felt closed in by his house, despite the windows usually being open during the Spring and Summer seasons. It just felt… right to be out in the open air rather than cooped up in a cabin.

Remi washed off his accessory first, making sure that there wasn’t too much of a stain left behind. There were a few areas already where white specks were still noticeable on the dark antlers, but that couldn’t be helped. Remi just liked to think that the spots made the horns look more natural, which was helpful since the plumie wore the ornament to fit in more with nature. Whenever he was out exploring, Remi didn’t want the wildlife to be afraid of him, so he wore the antlers to blend in with the deer that frequently bounded through the woods. Regardless of his odd scent, the ‘disguise’ seemed to work effectively, as small creatures would come right up to the plumerian instead of running away in fear.

With a dunk of his head in the water, the bird poop was washed away, but Remi still had the issue of his hair being soaking wet. After some pretty violent shaking due to the lack of a hair dryer, the problem was solved, and Remi trotted back to the bush where his book was hidden. To his surprise, the novel was nowhere to be found. Perhaps an animal discovered it and thought it would be good bedding? Well, whatever happened, I need to recover that book. Milo loaned it to me and I’d rather not tell him that I lost it in the woods.

It wasn’t hard to start off the search, as some tiny footprints led out from under the shrub and into a small hole dug under a tree. Remi investigated the hole and came to the conclusion that it belonged to a rabbit. He made a few clicking sounds to try and coax the animal out of hiding, but to no avail. Aww come on little bunny. That’s my friend’s book, not mine. Could I please have it back? Remi paced back and forth, trying to figure out what to try next. He’d never attempted to get a rabbit to give him a book back before. What do rabbits like? Berries! Yes that’s it, I’ll find some berries and use them to persuade the little one out of his shelter!

After a few minutes of searching, Remi returned to the spot with a handful of colorful berries. To his surprise, whiskers and a little twitching nose appeared out of the hole almost instantly. A fuzzy brown, floppy eared creature followed the whiskers, and soon a whole rabbit stood before Remi, nibbling furiously at the blue and red berries. Remi cocked his head at the creature; he was a cute little thing. But the book was most important. Remiel stuck a paw into the rabbit’s home, and carefully maneuvered around until he found a hard surface. That’s got to be the book. Slowly, Remi pulled out the item. It barely fit through the entrance of the hole, but Remi managed to pull it through with little resistance. The book was slightly scuffed, and some of the page edges were a little mangled, but otherwize the book was intact. Remi grinned and wedged the novel in between two branches of the nearest tree and turned back to the little fuzzy creature. The bunny had long stopped eating the berries, and was staring up curiously at Remiel, who tilted his head once more.

“Hi there little bunny… I’m sorry I invaded your home, I just need to get Milo’s book back.” Remi whispered, not wanting to frighten the animal. It stared up at Remi with a gaze of understanding, then turned back to the berries still scattered on the forest floor. Remi giggled. This is certainly going to be an interesting story to tell when I give Milo his book back.

Thankfully, Milo forgave Remi for dirting up his book, but he didn’t seem to believe Remi’s story.

The next day, he found a few clumps of soft, brown bunny fur stuck to the edges of the novel’s
last few pages, and it was hard to deny that in fact, a rabbit had stolen his book.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxMother--Mom

Remiel absolutely adores his mother. He admires her gentle and trusting
personality the most, and almost completely ignores her social anxiety
and low self-esteem. Remiel loves to go out exploring in the woods with
his mother when she has the time to go out with him. Together they
watch the wildlife, play hide-and-seek and generally just have a good
time. Loni takes special interest in Remi’s origami crafts, and has
sneaked a few into her room to decorate the walls with, especially
the butterflies made with patterned paper. Remiel knows his mother
does this, but never mentions it.

[100/100]

SOFIEL
Mommy--Momma

Even though Remiel doesn’t get to be around Sofi as much as he would like, he treasures the moments
they do share. Remi loves how quiet Sofi is and admires her willingness to listen, and this is probably
the quality that he respects the most in his momma. On Sofi’s good days, Remi likes to teach her
how to make crafts and read stories with her. Sofi occasionally teaches Remi piano, but mostly
leaves that to Hato, as she wants Remi to have the best teacher. She loves it when Remiel plays
her songs, and it always cheers her up.

[100/100]

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxCATORI
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxCat--Sis
Image

Remi loves his sister dearly, but finds the he doesn’t have very
much in common with her. Whenever he’s around, she caters
more towards her own interests rather than his. If he asks
when she’s in a good mood though, she will often oblige
and the two will end up making crafts or exploring the
forest together. Remiel doesn’t mind that Cat often lives
in her own world, and he enjoys watching her play her
games. Remi has a unique fascination with Cat’s DS and
he likes to take selfies on it for his sister to discover later.

[98/100]

INOLA
Sister

Remi doesn’t understand his little sister. She seems to be jealous of of him and Cat, and tends to have a
spiteful tone whenever he talks to her. Remiel loves Inola, and wants her to be happy, but it’s really
hard for him to be nice to her when she responds with bitterness. About the only thing the two have
in common is their love for piano, and this is one of the few activities Remi enjoys doing with his
little sister. Remi admires her talent for the instrument, and the siblings tend to practice together
when playing complex songs.

[100/100]

Image

ASARIEL
Nana--Asa

Remi loves to spend time with Asariel, mostly because she seems to understand his love of dreams
and dream related things. Asa also strongly supports Remi’s hobby of making origami, and she enjoys
helping him in his crafty endeavors whenever she is over. Remiel admires his Nana’s peaceful spirit
and loves her idea that everything in nature is precious. He shares this quality with Asa, and
expresses his love of nature most with his Nana, as she is often the most talkative on the subject.
Asa thoroughly enjoys these talks and takes pride in knowing her grandson shares her values.

[100/100]

HATO
Grandpapa--Pappy

Remiel enjoys listening to Hato’s long rambles about stars,
even though he isn’t extremely interested in the content. He loves
learning from his grandpapa and observing the passion he has for
those little lights in the night sky. Whenever they are together,
Remi always asks to hear the stories of the constellations from
Greek and Roman Mythology, and Hato is happy to oblige. Remiel
respects his knowledge about such diverse subjects and he wants
to learn from his Pappy’s seemingly infinite wisdom. Remi takes
piano lessons with Hato, as Sofi wanted him to learn from a better
teacher than herself.

[100/100]
Image

DEMIEL
Uncle Demi

Remi (or Wynnie as Demi calls him) gets along better with Demi than his family would
expect. Remi knows that Demiel is always up for cuddles, and whenever he is over,
the two are almost inseparable. Remi finds Demi’s personality and occupation very
interesting, and is always a willing canvas for his face painting masterpieces. Demi
thinks of Wynnie as his own child, and is a major fatherly figure in the little boy’s
life. Demi often brings Cam and Alistair with him when he comes over, and Remi
loves to teach them how to make origami wherever they are available.

[100/100]

HAYYEL
Auntie Hayyel

Remiel is too young to understand his aunties disorders, but he
knows that she has problems with knowing who exactly she is.
Remi and Hayyel don’t see each other very often, but when
they are together the two don’t talk much. Remi prefers to
just sit and occasionally snuggle with her. Although Hayyel’s
disorder has been explained to him, he still doesn’t quite get
it and he knows that he shouldn’t try to make sense of things
he doesn’t understand. He sympathises with her but cannot
empathise, because losing sight of himself and who he is is
unfathomable to him.

[100/100]
Image

SAMAEL
Uncle Sam

Remiel finds his uncle to be quite interesting and even a little frightening. Sam has a
bit of an intimidating air about him, and Remi often acts more cautious whenever
he is around. While he is interested in spirits and souls, Remi would rather not have
anything to do with them, and he thinks Samael is very brave and maybe even a
little crazy for taking on the task. Remiel isn’t around his Uncle Sam that much,
but he knows that Sam will always be there for him if need be.

MILO
owned by Shadowhunter,

Milo is one of the only friends Remi has due to where he
lives and his homeschooling in the earlier years of his life.
The two play fight like little boys would, but they are still
a tad girlish together. Milo comes over whenever possible,
and the two are practically brothers because of their very
close friendship. Remi admires Milo’s patience and ability
to see the good in everyone. Milo enjoys his company as he
finds Remi to be a very interesting character. Although Remi
doesn’t always notice it, several of the characters in Milo’s
stories are inspired by him.

AMIA
owned by toffee~

Remiel met Amia one day when Loni had taken him to the market to sell his crafts. As he was setting
up his stand and putting his origami out, Amia approached him and complimented him on his work.
Although Amia is much older than Remi, the two hit it off immediately because of their shared
interest in origami. Remi often chats with her over text and makes a point to meet up with her
every time he goes to the market. Loni is okay with the two being friends despite the age gap
because of Amia’s gentle and friendly personality.

It is completely optional to read the ask and/or listen to the playlist,
but I highly suggest it! The 'all art' link leads to a stash folder with every
piece of art used in this form, as well as a few pieces that were not.

Most of this form is made up of childhood stories and young Remi’s outlook on life,
as well as his hobbies and interests as a kiddo. Although I will probably keep this
little guy as a child for a good while (more than the required month), he will
eventually grow up.

Remiel will probably live with his parents for longer than most would, as he’d
be a little unwilling to leave them as well as nervous to go out into the world
on his own. Eventually Loni would probably be able to convince him otherwise,
and he would move to his own little cabin in the woods, not extremely far from
his family, but closer to civilization.

Image

Although Remi would still be a fairly reserved individual,
I should hope he would get out and socialize with others a
little more than he did when he was a child. I’d love to get
him more friends and roleplay with others to help me
develop Remiel into a really round character.

I’d like to think that Remiel’s love for dreams and their
meanings would come up later in life, even though his
feelings for the subject were suppressed for a little
while. He might go into the field of Oneirology (the
study of dreams) and be more curious about the purpose
of dreams and how they work. He also might go into
a more psychological occupation and work in
deciphering the meanings of dreams. Either way, I
think it would be really interesting if he had a job
related to his childhood passion.

Remi’s ardor for crafting and origami won’t disappear
either. I feel like he would have a side job as a sort of
artisan, making little paper animals whenever he had
spare time. Perhaps he would have an website with a
store to sell his crafts to make a little extra money,
as well as share his love for making things with
whoever is willing to learn.

Remi will most likely become more fascinated with the piano as he matures, and focus more time into
learning how to compose and write musical pieces of his own. He may even offer classes to children in
the area, wanting to share his knowledge with others as well as learn from the children themselves.

Remi will probably be less interested in adventuring and exploring as an adult than he was as a child,
but I think that the strong connection he has with nature will remain. If he ever found a hurt animal
outside his house, the little creature would certainly be well taken care of, and might even end up
having a new home with the plumie. With too many wild animal rescues, Remi’s house might be a
little out of control at times, but I think that that would be a fitting piece in his life puzzle.

Remi may or may not get a mate in the future, but if he does, it would be after careful thought and
probably a lot of roleplaying. If he does end up with a mate, kids would be likely as Remi would feel
more drawn to children and their open-minded curiosity. It would certainly be an adventure for him,
and one he’d surely be willing to go on, as a loving family would be a wonderful reward for his troubles.

First of all, I wanted to give a big thanks to my friends wandzie. and viixen for encouraging
me to keep going. I had a few huge letdowns during the time span of this comp and they
really motivated me to try my hardest in this competition. I'm really grateful for you guys,
and I'm honored to call you my friends. <3

Thank you to everyone who made me art, this form wouldn't be what it is without you!
I appreciate everyone who had the patience to put up with me in doing art trades, and I am especially grateful to those who made me free art out of the kindness of their hearts!

Here are all the pictures that I used for this form that were not art made
by a user. The image in the first post rotates through the first four linked
pictures each time you refresh.

And last, but certainly not least, I'd like to recognise and thank everyone who read
over my form and gave me your opinions on it. You guys really saved my life in the
way of constructive criticism and spellchecking! I valued everything you said about
each part of my form, and I really appreciate you taking the time to read over it
and give me feedback. It's cheesy to say, but I really couldn't have made it through
this competition without your critique and support.

Every single person linked in this post deserve the thanks and love of the community,
and I really hope that others know how amazing all of you are. It's crazy to think that
I could feel so much motivation from people I met on the internet and have never seen
before in real life, but here I am, sitting here in my computer chair in awe at all of the
people on CS and dA who have inpired me beyond belief. To all of you, thank you
from the bottom of my heart.
