      Possible Prefixes (B)
    • Badger-: A black-and-white cat or a gray-and-white cat (American badger/Taxidea taxus jeffersoni)
    • Bat-: A small black or brown cat (various species)
    • Bear-: A large brown (varying shades) or dark tortoiseshell (dominantly black and brown) cat [Grizzly bear/Ursus arctos] / A large black cat (American black bear/Ursus americanus)
    • Beaver-: A dark brown tabby or dark tortoiseshell (dominantly black and black) cat (North American beaver/Castor canadensis)
    • Bee-: A dark brown or gray-brown cat (European dark bee/Apis mellifera mellifera; this is the most common of all introduced bee species, which is native to N. Europe)
    • Beetle-: A brown or black cat (various species)
    • Berry-: A blue-gray, blue, or dark gray cat (Oregon grape/Mahonia aquifolium) / a black cat (Common juniper/Juniperus communis var. depressa)
    • Birch-: A white cat (European white birch/Betula pendula)
    • Black-: A black cat with predominantly black fur (some white markings allowed, but not a patched/bicolor cat)
    • Blizzard-:A white and light grey spotted or dappled cat
    • Blue-: A blue, blue-gray, or dark gray cat ('blue' fur is a dilution of black fur, appearing as a bluish gray color. They are rarely tabbies.)
    • Boulder-: A large black, brown, or gray cat
    • Bramble-: A brown tabby (Himalayan blackberry/Rubus armeniacus + Cutleaf evergreen blackberry/Rubus laciniatus; both species are naturalized species // Pacific blackberry/Rubus ursinus)
    • Briar-: Interchangeable with Bramble-; a brown tabby (briar refers to any thorny plant, usually blackberry)
    • Bright-: A cat that is predominantly white, but with significant patches of another color. The other color can be just about anything - ginger, black, brown, even grey - so long as there is more white than the color. This name can also be used for calico or bi-colour/tri-colour pelt.
    • Brindle-: A cat with a mottled coat. Can be a distinctly flecked tortoiseshell, a spotted cat, or a brindle tabby.
    • Brown-: A brown cat (any shade)
    • Burdock-: A blue, blue-gray, or light gray cat (Downy burdock/Arctium tomentosum; the burdock plant is not native to N. America, and grows in the Twolegplace garden.)
    • Burnet-: A ginger or reddish tabby cat (Salad burnet/Sanguisorba minor; this plant is not native to North America, and is grown as an edible plant in the Twoleg garden)
    • Buzzard-: A mottled brown or tortoiseshell cat (Rough-legged buzzard/Buteo lagopus) / a dark brown or dark tortoiseshell cat (Turkey vulture/Cathartes aura)

      Possible Prefixes (C)
    • Carp-: A golden brown cat (Common carp/Cyprinus carpio; they are an invasive species introduced to the US)
    • Cedar-: A reddish brown tabby or ginger cat (Western red cedar/Thuja plicata)
    • Chanterelle-: A white or light golden brown cat (Cantharellus cascadensis)
    • Chervil-: A white cat (Garden chervil/Anthriscus cerefolium; this herb is not native to USA, and is found in the Twoleg garden)
    • Cinder-: A gray cat (can be dappled, tabby, etc.)
    • Cloud-: A white, pale gray, silver gray, or pale gray-and-white cat
    • Clover-: A blue-gray or white cat (Rancheria clover/Trifolium albopurpureum)
    • Comfrey-: A white, blue, blue-gray, or light grey cat (Common comfrey/Symphytum officinale; comfrey is an introduced species/weed in the US)
    • Coot-: A black cat with some white markings (American coot/Fulica americana)
    • Cougar-: A large brown, gray, or reddish brown tabby cat (North American cougar/Puma concolor couguar)
    • Coyote-: A black, brown (any shade, from fawn-colored to dark brown), gray, or cream cat (Coyote/Canis latrans)
    • Crow-: A black cat, with little or no white markings (American crow/Corvus brachyrhynchos) / A small black cat with little or no white markings (Northwestern crow/Corvus caurinus)

    • Dark-: A dark-furred cat (black, brown, or gray)
    • Dawn-: A very light/pale gray or very light/pale ginger cat (never white)
    • Deer-: A mottled brown, dark brown, or dark tortoiseshell (dominantly black and brown) cat (Black-tailed deer/Odocoileus hemionus columbianus) / A brown-and-white or gray-brown cat (White-tailed deer/Odocoileus virginianus)
    • Dipper-: A gray tabby or speckled gray cat (American dipper/Cinclus mexicanus)
    • Dove-: A brown-and-white, tawny, or lighter brown tortoiseshell cat (Mourning dove/Zenaida macroura)
    • Duck-: A speckled or dappled brown cat; a tortoiseshell cat (American widgeon/Anas americana; these are a winter visitor species, as a more permanent version only live on the eastern portion of the state, whereas the cats live on the western part of the state) / a brown-and-white or tortoiseshell cat (Lesser scaup/Aythya affinis) / a dark tortoiseshell or black cat (Ring-necked duck/Aythya collaris) / a tortoiseshell or brown (speckled or tabby) cat (Wood duck/Aix sponsa)
    • Dusk-: a dusky-colored cat (dark gray, brown, but never black). Also can be tortoiseshell, with some kind of patterns being common (tabby, speckled, etc.)
    • Dust-: A brown cat (tabby or other pattern is fine)

      Possible Prefixes (E)
    • Eagle-: A brown or golden brown cat (North American golden eagle/Aquila chrysaetos canadensis; there is a family of eagles living on the edge of HemlockClan territory, where the trees give way to more open ground)
    • Elder-: A white or pale brown/cream cat (Blue elder/Sambucus cerulea)
    • Elk-: A light brown or reddish brown tabby (Roosevelt elk/Cervus elaphus roosevelti & Rocky Mountain elk/Cervus elaphus nelsoni)
    • Ember-: A tortoiseshell cat (predominantly black, brown, and ginger)
    • Evening-: A gray or dark gray cat

      Possible Prefixes (F)
    • Falcon-: A dark gray or gray-and-white cat (can be speckled/tabby/spotted) [Peregrine falcon ("Peale's falcon")/Falco peregrinus pealei] (under 'subspecies'; these are non-migratory)
    • Fawn-: A light brown cat (any tabby markings must be 'quite faint')
    • Fern-: A gray cat (seeing as green can be seen as gray from far away) [Goldback fern/Pentagramma triangularis)
    • Fir-: A gray or gray-brown cat (Douglas Fir/Pseudotsuga menziesii) / a gray tabby (Pacific silver fir/Abies amabilis)
    • Fire-: A ginger cat
    • Flame-: A ginger cat
    • Fleck-: A flecked or faintly spotted cat
    • Fly-: A small black cat (various species)
    • Fog-: A dark gray or gray cat (can have some dusky brown in the pelt)
    • Fox-: A ginger (and kind of ginger) cat or reddish brown tabby (Red fox/Vulpes vulpes)
    • Fritillary-: A dark brown cat (Kamchatka fritillary/Fritillaria camschatcensis)
    • Frog-: A brown tabby (American bullfrog/Rana catesbeiana; this is an introduced/invasive species) / A dark brown tabby (Coastal tailed frog/Ascaphus truei) / a brown tabby (Pacific tree frog/Pseudacris regilla)
    • Frost-: A white or pale gray cat (can have faint markings)

    • Golden-: "What it says on the can" (light ginger with faint tabby markings, a golden brown cat, etc.)
    • Goose-: A tortoiseshell or calico cat (Moffitt's Canadian goose/Branta canadensis moffitti)
    • Gopher-: small gray cat (Northern pocket gopher/Thomomys talpoides)
    • Gorse-: A bright golden (golden brown, golden tabby) cat (Common gorse/Ulex europaeus; this is an aggressively invasive species in the US)
    • Grass-: A brown (tabby) cat
    • Gray-: A gray cat

    • Hail-: A pale gray dappled cat
    • Hare-: A brown (summer morph) or white (winter morph) cat (usually short-tailed) (Snowshoe hare/Lepus americanus; both subspecies cascadensis and columbiensis occur in Washington state)
    • Hawk-: A dark brown (can be speckled, spotted, or tabby) cat (Western red-tailed hawk/Buteo jamaicensis calurus; see under 'Taxonomy' for the subspecies)
    • Hazel-: A light brown, golden brown, or golden tabby (Western beaked hazel/Corylus cornuta var. californica)
    • Heather-: a very light ginger or white cat (Little prince's pine/Chimaphila menziesii) / a ginger cat (Bog wintergreen/Pyrola asarifolia)
    • Hemlock-: A brown cat (tabby) [Western Hemlock/Tsuga heterophylla]
    • Holly-: A dark ginger (after the berries' color) cat or a white (after its flowers) cat (English holly/Ilex aquifolium; a highly invasive species, it has been placed on Washington State's Noxious Weeds Control list)

    • Thistle-: A light gray cat (Creeping thistle/Cirsium arvense; this is an invasive weed species, as it is native to Asia. Also, the lavender collr might look a bit like gray sometimes)
    • Tiny-: A small cat (synonymous with Little- and Small-)
