((omg I'd love to see your guy's artwork!))
Silentstep
The deputy watched as the apprentice walked her way, then shook her head. She'd see in time the faith everyone has in her. "C'mon," Silentstep said, following her lead. Her bones still ached, but she pressed on anyway. She paused, seeing a robin up ahead. In one quick motion she had closed the gap and swiped at the bird. It hung limp in her paw, and Silentstep felt pride swell in her chest. At least I know I'm still good at this, she thought. And the robin would make a tasty meal when they returned!

(I really can't draw cats. I looked back at the art I just did and I'm like how did I screw this up so badly?. At least it's funny. :^)
Honeydew
Honeydew blushed at his comment, but then smiled softly. She then yawned, and wrapped her tail around her. She rested her head on the moss nest, and closed her eyes
Fallenthorn
Fallenthorn followed along with Silentstep, and saw her catch the robin. She was a really good hunter, a lot better than he was. He did prefer fighting over hinting. He saw a squirrel on a tree. He got in position, and pounced. The squirrel was quicker than he was and ran up the tree. The tom groaned.

((That cracked me up!))
Silentstep snickered, but nudged the tom playfully. "You'll get the next one!" She assured. "Darkpaw, lemme see what you got. Next viable bird you see, I want to observe your technique." She had taught Darkpaw so much, at this point it was a matter of analyzing his skills to see how ready he was to become a warrior. So far, so good. She turned back to Fallenthorn, "Hey, even if you don't catch anything, I don't mind sharing," she assured, "Everyone has their off days. Like today, with my fighting." As soon as the words left her mouth, she regretted it. She didn't want to let on that she was off her game. She hoped to distract them from her slip up, stalking a hare that was grazing nearby in the grass. She walked towards it slowly and the rabbit caught sight of her, but it was too late. Silentstep had already leaped on it, and it was as good as gone. Hunting was where she excelled, after all.

(Thanks!)

Fallenthorn
Fallenthorn grumbled, but liked Silentstep's encouragement. "I thought your fighting was great. I didn't see anything wrong with it". Now he knew something was wrong with her.

Silentstep
"I guess Darkpaw is better at fighting than I thought!" Silentstep exclaimed, smiling to herself. She added her robin to her second catch, sniffing around for more. "Probably because I'm such a good mentor," she boasted playfully. Honestly, it was probably a mix of both. After that last leap, she felt fatigue creep onto her, and wished desperately she was back at camp. "I'm catching one more then heading back," she declared, "You too, Darkpaw. One last catch and we'll go back to camp."

Darkpaw padded after his mentor. He was amazing at fighting, but he could never quite get the hang of hunting. He turned to Fallenthorn. "Ravenpaw's not always like that, you know. She's just a little rough around the edges sometimes." He turned back to his mentor. "I can try for the next one, but I haven't been having a lot of luck recently. I think my crouching stance is a little off," He frowned, shifting his weight uncomfortably. Suddenly he felt as if he was intruding on Silentstep and Fallenthorn, not the other way around. He wondered what was up with the two, and surely didn't like it. Nonetheless, he hadn't seen new kits born since he left the Nursery.
(I like the pictures. They are a little too derpy for my taste, but I definitely find them funny. I'm actually getting a lot better at drawing cats, especially lion king style. I haven't drawn in a while because my school forced me to reset my tablet and it wiped all my progress on the app I was using. I'll try to find one of my works to show you guys, though.)

Silentstep
The mentor listened to Darkpaw, then nodded, "You'll get the hang of it. Practice makes perfect." She paused and pointed a paw a few fox lengths in front of them, where a rat stood obliviously, "Try that one," she suggested. Meanwhile she looked around for any other prey she could get her paws on. She trained her eyes on a vole, and crouched down to observe it. After a few moments of deliberation, she leaped on top of the animal, grabbing at it with her paw. She managed to injure it, but the vole took off without dying. Determined, she followed it, finally catching up and dealing it a killing bite. Satisfied that she was done hunting, she picked the vole up with her mouth to take back to her pile, sitting and waiting patiently for Darkpaw to finish so they could go back.

Darkpaw sighed and crouched down, creeping closer to the rat with a determination like nothing else, his tail stilling as he neared it. He stopped when he was just a few feet away and waited, the only sound he could hear was his heart thumping inside of his chest. The rat perked up its ears, looking around as the wind direction changed. Darkpaw growled and leaped at the rat, but it darted out from between his paws, scurrying down into a nearby burrow. Darkpaw cursed aloud and stood, shaking out his pelt.

Silentstep
Silentstep saw her apprentice struggling, but she figured he made up for it by fighting well. "C'mon," she said, her tail grazing his pelt, "There's still plenty prey back at camp, as well as what I caught. We'll come back out tomorrow and try to hunt more after training." She felt drained and just wanted to get back to camp so she could rest. "Let's head back." She picked up the rabbit and vole with her mouth, motioning for Darkpaw to pick up the bird. She began walking back to camp, making sure Fallenthorn wasn't far behind. "You should make sure Ravenpaw gets back," she told the other warrior.
