distracted by zero's voice, ash looked up from her leg and listened to what he had to say. "he's right, you all are bickering like the guards usually do before dinner! we all need to calm down a bit." her motherly tone shone like a star. "i get it, this is going to be extremely difficult. but we have suffered worse. injections, surgeries-" a shudder ran down her back, the word bringing back bad memories. "and poor pheobe is trying so hard. must be exhausted." a pang of sympathy rang through her heart, but was quickly replaced by rash impatience. "so, please, lower your voices and maybe we can actually come up with a legitimate plan on who does what, and we need it now." finally done with what she had to say, ashli collapsed to the floor with a grunt, her fingers drumming on the floor. she closed her eyes, humming to something random, a made-up tune. anything to help her calm down. truth was, she had no idea what she was going to do. invisibility was going to be the best thing out there, expecially when needed to get past the guards. but how was she going to do it? it was her first time doing her... power to hurt someone. it made her stomach twist and groan with the unpleasant thought. was she going to have to kill? her head started to hurt, and she closed her eyes even tighter.

eli nodded to ashli as she quietened everyone down - he was thankful that they all seemed to be warming to the idea that they could actually make it out of here tonight if they just came up with a decent plan and stuck to it. "i can use this fuse box to screw with the power in the entire building - it should keep the guards on their toes and give us some cover to get the hell outta here," he informed them, rubbing his hands together to form more sparks - half to prove his point and half because he just thought they looked cool. "i'll only do it once we're all out and ready to make a break for it."
he looked around the group, trying to keep count in his head of who was standing in the middle corridor and who was still in their cell. "where's lucas?" he asked, noticing that brown haired boy wasn't quite among the others yet. he should be able to get out by himself, but eli didn't want to shut the power off until he was sure. nobody's getting left behind here he thought to himself.
he noticed pheobe looking a little drained from melting all of the bars. surely it would have taken a fair bit of energy. "feebs, you okay?" he called out to her. he didn't want her to strain herself too much. if she became fatigued it might be hard to run if that was what it came down to.

She smiled in turn at everybody who offered supportive responses, and nodded in turn to Chryseis's appreciative sign. As everybody talked amongst themselves, she remained quiet, letting them formulate a plan further. She was distract with her thoughts by the time Elias started talking to her, so she blinked and looked over at him languidly. "Me?" Her brain caught up with the conversation and she stood up a little straighter. She waved her hand in dismissal. "Yeah I'm fine. I've handled worse." Pheobe moved over to the bars of Ashli's cell, the next one over, and began the process of melting her 'cage'.
It was a moment later that she responded to Elias's mention of Lucas. "If strong man doesn't get out here soon, there's no way he's gonna be able to catch up," she glanced around at everybody, counting. "Oh. I already won." She grinned, moving the flames slightly, "Sweet." Most everything became a competition to her at some point, whether appropriate for the occasion or not. It probably started around the time when the scientists decided it would be enjoyable to test how long a subject could last under certain circumstances, she mused. Winning those weren't always a good thing, but she always kept a tally in her head of every moment she showed the jerks she was stronger than what they threw her way.
Besides, there was no damage to this little win and it lifted her spirits that little bit. Ashli's bars had been cleared, and Pheobe headed over to let Keighley out. She smiled a bit at the girl as she started, drifting off into thoughts again. After Keighley would be Zero, and after him there would be Kami, and then a short break. Maybe she could find some water somewhere, because that would be wonderful.

for once, ashli was standing patiently, and she waited for pheobe to melt her cage, adrenaline racing throughout her body. she couldn't think straight, she was so excited. after only a few minutes of feebs melting, ash was out of her cell. she might still be in the building, but she already felt more free. maybe it was the aspect of her cell being destroyed beyond repair, or how everyone was in a group, discussing how to escape, but it made her smile. seeing that pheobe was working on someone else's cell -- keighley -- ashli went over and hugged her from behind. "thank you." she mumbled. it was quick, little grasp around her stomach, but it calmed her nerves, if only a little bit. after doing that small little deed, ash went over with everyone else. "you know, i can help you with getting past the guards." ash said slowly. "i can just camouflage so i blend in to everything, and just distract them. play tricks on them or whatever." ashli leaned on the wall, tapping her foot. if someone was going to sacrifice themselves for the good of the group, it should be her. she felt the least useful out of everyone, although her brain told her that couldn't be true, she was special in her own way. ash could prove that she could handle her own weight if she did this.

Anna, practically vibrating from excitement and over-stimulation, bounced through the gap in her cell as soon as Pheobe had moved out of the way. "Thanks Pheobe!" she chirped happily, a wide, rather lopsided grin taking permanent residence on her face. Even after all these years of unlearning affection, she wanted nothing more in that moment than to throw her arms around the older girl in the biggest hug she could fathom. She even moved forward slightly, hands raising, before she remembered that she couldn't and dropped her arms, opting to wrap them tightly around herself. Instead, she carefully reached inside her pocket and pulled out a rumpled crayon-coloured drawing, holding it out towards Pheobe by the farthest corner of the page. It was a picture of some long-forgotten ocean, surprisingly detailed despite its undeniably childish quality. "This is where we're gonna go, when we get out of here," she offered by way of explanation, offering up the picture and her smile as the closest to a hug she could give right then.
When Eloy asked her about the drawings, Anna simply shook her head. "Just some. I'm leaving the rest for the nice guard who brought me new crayons," was all she said, though it was accompanied with a bright smile. She had a few stuffed into her shirt sleeves and pockets, but they served no sentimental value for her as of yet. She didn't remember these places, and she figured she'd be seeing them for real before long. She had brought them along entirely for the purpose of serving as hugs when she felt someone needed them. "Are you bringing yours?"

it was apparent that one person was missing, which meant he was probably in one of the labs. would they have left him alone to go unload the plane? eli wondered to himself. it was a chance that they were going to have to take - if it came down to it, they could probably take out some guards to get to their friend. "guys we're gonna have to make a detour to find mr.muscle. i don't know what lab he'll be in so we're gonna have to be quick." he told them. no one was getting left behind; he'd already hammered that into his brain a thousand times and there was no way he was going back on it now.
aside from that everyone seemed to be accounted for. anna and eloy were busily gathering up their drawings to take with them. eli sort of wished he had something he could bring along, not that he really wanted to remember this place once he was free, but it would be nice to have a symbol of what he went through, what he and the others survived.
eli pulled himself away from the sentimentality and focused on the task at hand. it was time. "stand back," he muttered coolly as he shoved his entire hand into the fuse box, gripping the colored wires and focusing all of his energy into the bolts that were flying from his fingertips. the lights in the room started to flicker and everything went quiet as the constant murmur of machines died down. eventually it all went dark and the dim red emergency lights came on. it was dark as all hell but it would be enough for them to navigate their way through the building.
elias stood back and gestured to the door which lead out to the rest of the base. "off we go then," he mused with an oddly chirpy tone.

after what felt like literal centuries, zero was finally released from his prison. as soon as the bars were melted away, he sprang out of the inclosed space as quickly as he could. he exhaled softly in relief, rubbing the beads of sweat that had formed on his forehead away. he nodded a small thank you towards pheobe, who looked to be absolutely exhausted. that wasn't good. if any of them weren't at their very best, the "plan" might not go as accordingly. he gave her one final concerned glance before joining the others, listening to their conversation with a dull expression on his face. while most of them seemed pretty lighthearted about the situation, zero was stern and focused. if he let himself get distracted, then he might fail the others. that was exactly what he didn't want.
zero was already beginning to toss and turn what he could do to help. he had to pay close attention to the guards, of course. perhaps if he got a hold of one of their weapons, he could kill any that tried to go after him or the others? realistically, that wouldn't be difficult in the slightest. with his ability of being unable to miss, he could easily kick a gun out of someone's hand and snag it from the air with ease. he smirked to himself, furrowing his eyebrows. he had to admit, he was getting excited. the idea of escape began to get a better taste on his tongue; no longer stale, but delightful and tantalizing.
the brunette watched as elias took charge of shorting the power, the lights flickering dramatically for a few moments before completely shutting off. red lights followed the darkness, but it didn't change how incredibly dim the place had gotten. good. this would make it much easier to go sneaking about undetected, even as a large group. zero approached the door that had originally blocked them from exiting, poking his head through the crevice where it had been slightly opened. few guards remained around, only a couple here and there. they were pretty distracted, however, busy unloading things, which would work in the group's favor. the boy licked his chapped lips, pulling his head back inside. "this should be easy," he stated, turning and glancing back at the rest of the group. "i'll contribute as much as i can. i can throw a good punch, knowing i won't miss, but stealing someone's weapon might work better for me." zero crossed his arms over his chest, still relishing in the feeling of not being in that cage anymore. it was like freedom was already his.

ah, yes, mr. muscle. the strongest out of all them. they definitely needed him. tightening her ponytail, a grim expression on her face, she prepared herself. her blue eyes watched elias as he worked on the electricity. boy, was she glad to have him on her side, sparks flying around his hands. distracted by anna and eloy, she noticed them carrying drawings, and her thoughts went to back to her cell. "oh gosh, give me one sec." she said to no one in particular, and quickly walked back her cage.
there was one thing ash couldn't forget, a priceless artifact from when she first got here; a little toy ring with a fake diamond inside. it was a toy, yes, but it was hers. somehow the guards and scientists never really took a second glance at it, which proved to be spectacular luck. as she put it in her pocket, hands shaking somewhat, the lights shut off. it made her jump only a few feet in the air, but once she calmed down, she went back to the hustle and bustle that was their group. as zero began talking about his escape plan, ashli scrunched up her eyes, the red light impairing her vision. she spoke up after he was done. "i can go get mr. muscle, and fetch you a gun or something, zero." as if to prove her point, ash turned completely invisible. it was a weird feeling, her sight going a bit fuzzy and stuff. it felt almost as strange, like someone threw on a heavy rug on top of her. once demonstrating her skill, ashli began to shimmer back into existence. "it'll be easy," she forced through clenched teeth. the truth was, this probably wasn't going to be easy.
all throughout life, she had been forced into "easy mode." that meant doing practically nothing until the scientists came to get you. and this task was going to test both their inner and outer strength. ash had no idea how anyone or herself were going to cope with that.

Kami
✕ spider ✕ climbs on walls and ceilings ✕ everyone ✕
The blonde boy watched Pheobe move from Zero over to his cage. While they were named after animals, that sure was no excuse to be treated like them. He watched as Pheobe's fire melted the bars on his cage. Once the chance presented itself, he stepped out of the cage. He eyed their surroundings noting how the ceiling related to the floor. He could probably jump to it from the floor though the easier way would be to go by walls then to the ceiling. Kami watched as everyone began making plans. 'Why hadn't they planned it before doing?' he wandered. With a roll of the eyes, he watched Ashli go back to the prison that was hers. He speculated on why suddenly realizing that she must've gone for a keepsake. Kami rushed back to get his cards.
How could he even imagine leaving them behind? He didn't understand how the scientists missed them. Even the way he got them should have thrown them off. Kami had found them on a desk and stolen them. Granted, he wasn't even allowed in there. He was sent on a treasure hunt of sorts to find something the scientists had stuck to the ceiling. He was limited to a certain part of the facility but, had managed to sneak into a room. There were a bunch of office cubicles and only two people were inside. The two seemed to be concentrating on their work, so Kami had decided to look around from the ceiling. That's where he spotted the only splash of red color in the building. He had no idea what the original use for them was but, he wanted it and he took it.
Kami was startled when the lights went out but, figured it would be easier to escape. The scientists would be distracted leaving a window of error. As everyone began talking about their contributions Kami added,"I can distract them or temporarily paralyze them depending on what you want." of course his special skills were pressure point combat. Making it so that his combat was either lethal or paralyzing.

El was ready to do this. "I do believe you've all forgotten something. I have power over the guards," he said, addressing the small group of people huddled inside the doorway. But, using his power was risky, because the guards had a small amount of mental training against him, and he'd have to convince them before they called reinforcements. Tricky, tricky. Still, convincing them would be better than maiming them, or even worse, killing them. "If we hurt any of them, it's going to be obvious. The guards have monitors on their bodies that record their vitals signs. If anything gets weird, those monitors will notify some authority immediately." El had picked up this little tidbit of information once they'd decided to escape, and had failed to tell the others. He was testing out his powers on some guards one day, when security was low, and gotten that little sliver of information from them.
Keeping secrets between subjects was not exactly common. It didn't happen much, and El knew that. So he decided to be one step ahead of the game, because if he knew that if a couple were caught, then he and the rest would have a better chance of getting out of here alive and completely free. They'd be angry, he knew, in fact he could already feel it bubbling in their minds. But he'd said it before anyone had gotten captured, right? He wasn't that bad of a person? Right?
