It is the 1890s, horse drawn carriages roll over the city streets, clicking as the horses' hooves contact the cobblestones. Paper boys stand at street corners brandishing newspapers like swords, hoping to attract your attention. Unable to resist the temptation, you accept, handing the boy a single pence in exchange for the tan slip of paper. You are not surprised by the headline; there's been another murder. Another casualty of the ongoing fight between different creatures within the city and the unfortunate humans stuck in between. You know it's all too obvious. Soon, the detectives will be involved and another set of players will join this cruel game. To the public, it is the mere work of criminals, but you know that there is more than meets the eye.

☞ No powerplaying. However, unlike most rps, you ARE allowed to have a nigh invincible character (can be harmed but not killed). It makes sense for the vampire genre, but each character must be defeatable.

☞ Use a minimum of six sentences and please use a copious amount of detail. It makes the characters believable, helps set the mood, and gives other roleplayers material to use to keep the storyline moving. Also, use proper spelling and grammar so as to not detract from the quality of the roleplay.

☞ No Marysues/Garysues. Make your characters complex. Even the best characters have their dark side, and even the most evil have redeemable qualities.

☞ Don't be anachronistic. It does take place in Victorian London, so stick to Victorian etiquette as well as Victorian technology. That being said, a few futuristic inventions or magical goods are permitted, just don't be too liberal with it.

☞ Make sure to read over the CS rules for roleplay and respect other roleplayers

☞ Keep out of character discussion brief and in brackets or parentheses, or use the discussion thread

Forms:
Your form should include basics, such as species, gender, sexuality, name, and a photo as well as physical description. Also include a description of your character's personality and background (it can be brief).

Character forms will be located in the discussion thread to help keep them organized and easily accessible. Please PM me the forms, so I can approve them, then you can post them on the discussion thread. Once we have a few roleplayers, I'll make brief descriptions of the characters to put here for easy access. I am not using slots, so there is no limit to number of roleplayers, just know your personal limits.

Maps:
Also, below is a rough map of the streets of Victorian London. You don't have to go into specifics, but I thought it would be helpful and would give a good sense of geography.

Vampire traits: Vampire ability references (for every two strengths, have a weakness) - RP vampires should be averse to sunlight, but it will not kill them. Vampires are unable to use any of their powers, except physical strength, when in daylight.

Werewolf traits: Werewolves within the RP can change into full wolf form at will except during new or full moons. During new moons, the werewolf is unable to transform and is stuck in human form. During full moons, the werewolf is forced into werewolf form against their will, which is an incredible danger to them. Wolf form is weaker than werewolf form, but has the advantage of being controllable.

William Pendragon

The sun was growing ever lower in the sky, showering the city in gold. It perched on skyline of distant buildings, like a crowned gem adorning a fine diadem. William rubbed his eyes. He was exhausted and had underslept as usual. It was a warm and pleasant evening, the breeze was warm and it was not too humid. Still, William was too distracted to enjoy the fine weather, he was too preoccupied with the latest case. There was such an odd string of murders that he couldn't tie to any known cause. It was all too odd, numerous victims were drained of blood, but he couldn't fathom how a human could siphon out such a large amount of blood. Tonight, he was hoping for answers. He thought that by wandering the streets, he may find his solution in time, or at least find witnesses.

☠ Severin Chevalier ☠

Severin emerged from his dark crypt as soon as he sensed the cool evening wind. Though it wasn't cold, there was a distinct quality to the night's wind that was hardly describable. He stretched, taking a good look at his surroundings. Being trapped in such a small space all night was maddening and he longed for fresh air to fill his lungs. He straightened his cravat and dusted off his clothing before scaling the gate of the graveyard, hoping to go unnoticed. Once he had crossed the barrier, he grinned, eager to explore the city.

"Not a Warning, Not a Question, a Bullet"

~Duraal~
Long digits slowly and gently ran of the metal of the silver blade. They traced down the sharp edge as the other hand curled the long metal chain with in it. My silvery eyes locked onto the weapon as my mind seemed to travel. 'It has been a long time since I have been in this world, has it not.' I have often told myself these words, especially as I looked upon the chained dagger. This dagger was the only link to a forgotten past. I stayed like this, sitting upon the earth in a side ally way, my back up against the wall. I stayed like this for a while before a long sigh was given. With a swift movement the blade was sheathed back into to it's sheath that was located on my lower back right above me hip. It hid under the trench coat that the officers often wore, and under my own clothing. After all a detective normally does not carry this type of weapon. The chain was curled around my waist almost like a belt, but it too was hidden under my clothing.

Legs straightened out from underneath me as I stood up straight and headed back to the main street. Those silvery eyes looking up to the sky as I notice that it had a golden hue to it. 'And so let those of the night wonder about.' I thought to myself as I looked back down to notice a rather familiar face off in the distance. You may wounder how I know of these creatures, well I guess you could say I kinda mingle in with them now, after all I am no longer fully human.

With a few long strides my figure appeared before my fellow detective William. "What are ya doing out here?" I said to him. I already knew his answer but I figured I would ask. The poor lad was on the case of a serial murder. The Victims were all drained of blood and there was no clues. He was probably out here half hopping to either find a witness or maybe even become a victim himself in order to catch the culprit. I knew what it was that was doing these killing, but precisely which one I was not sure about nor did I care that much, this case was not mine after all.

estelle--avis--devreux

"the djinn"

[age] twenty-three [ occupation ] governess [ location ] the streets [ tagged ] open

The sky was always the most beautiful just before the long cloak of night covered it in darkness, this was always Estelle's favourite time of day. Her hair pulled back into a simple bun Estelle wore a simple gown of grey it's long skirt swishing around her ankles, the only noticeable thing about her was the black lace veil that covered her face. Tonight she must feed, the thought of killing didn't faze the young djinn at all, in fact she'd already arranged for her victim that night. Thomas an elderly man she had recently come across feeding pigeons in the park, no family or friends left alive to miss him he was the perfect mark. A good thing to because it seemed more than one creature that fed off the blood of the living had made their home in London the amount of deaths were increasing in alarming numbers, the police were investigating it as a rash of serial murders. Estelle wasn't too concerned however, in the case of her mercy killings she was methodical in her execution and besides who would ever think that a simple governess would be capable of such murders? Looking about there were very few people out and about as darkness creeped along the streets of London, apparently the murders had scared most off the streets only the desperate and the rich remained. Holding her head high Estelle continued down the street -not too far now- she thought as she passed by the park where she had met Thomas and where she would from now on stop to feed the birds.

    The black cat sat on the roof of one of the Victorian style buildings and watched as the sun slowly sank beyond the horizon. A light breeze ruffled her fur and in the distance, a bird chirped out its last song of the day. Tail flicking slightly, she rose and turned away from the blood orange sky. The cat trotted down the slick roofing with an easy Grace. Her pawsteps were sure, never faltering, as she reached the edge of one roof and leaped across to the next. Through this method of travel she was able to navigate the city with little danger. Below on the cobblestone streets, dogs and animal control lurked and horse drawn carriages still flattered noisily through the streets. Any number of things could injure or kill the small feline down there. Better she stay above the chaos. She turned towards the richer side of town where her house was located. The life of a thief paid well, it seemed. As she reached the uppercrust side of town she left the roofs and set out at ground level. The roofs here were too far apart for her to jump. Thankfully, it wasn't far to the home she shared with the boy she'd taken under her wing. In the shadows of the alley beside her three story, Victorian style home, she changed to her human form and pulled on a simple white sundress. The neighbors here had no clue that a Shapeshifter and werewolf lived amidst them and she wanted to keep it that way.

    Shaking out her thick, chestnut brown hair she hurried to the wide, wraparound porch and unlocked the front door. Inside, the house was silent save for the drone of a radio somewhere in the distance. Walking swiftly through the house, she entered the kitchen and was surprised that her ward wasn't in there eating. Werewolves, she had found, had bottomless appetites.
    Loki! You could have washed the dishes while I was out! She shouted towards the stairs as she flipped on the Water faucet.

Time: Nightfall Feeling: Determined Location: The streets Tagged: Duraal

William looked over his shoulder casually as Duraal approached behind him. He smiled sheepishly. "I think we both know why I'm walking the streets on a night like tonight, whether you approve or not," he said. "Should I be asking the same of you?" He brushed back his mess of bright blonde hair, finally turning to face her. "Of course, I do have an inkling as to why you're out so late. It's a pattern of yours. It's in your nature. Though, I never wish to dwell on what exactly you are doing. However, I could use your help. Feeble as I am, I know I'm being foolish. I'm as equally stubborn as I am weak. I was just hoping to use stealth. I do think that whoever is causing these murders is certainly quick as well as strong. That's all I can infer. There has been so little evidence and it's all so strange...what do you make of it?"

☠ Severin Chevalier ☠

Time: Nightfall Feeling: Bored Location: Nearing the park Tagged: Estelle

Severin walked through the somber streets, without a single qualm of fear in his chest. It was night, and he was the predator. As he walked, he became distracted by the large windows of the building beside him. He was without reflection and without shadow. I'd best be careful, he thought to himself, this peculiarity is only noticeable when I am alone and night is falling fast. It was a long walk until he reached the corner of the park. It was a lovely place, full of well tended flowers and trees. Roses bloomed blood red and tulips blossomed as bright as the sun. The trees were dense and shady and the bricks neatly arranged. He hadn't noticed Estelle, until he heard her quiet footfall on the other side of the trees. Too quiet for a mere human. He listened intently, before his attention was shattered by the loud clearing of the throat by an elderly man nearing the park. Disgusted by the noise, Severin turned the corner, hoping to evade him. He watched as Thomas entered the park, still curious as to why such a man was out at the late hour. The man was in a secluded location, perfect for hunting, but Severin found him to be an unsatisfactory prey, and quickly lost interest. Still, curiosity overcame him, and he eavesdropped through the bushes.

"Not a Warning, Not a Question, a Bullet"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~Duraal~
My right hand gently rose to my head, running it back over my hair and down the long tightly woven hair. My odd silvery eyes looking around at how empty the streets had become in the short time period. My ears trained upon the younger lad as I listen to his words. 'I had forgotten how much he speaks.' The words crossed my mind as my attention wondered back to him as he finished his little story. I shrugged to him as I looked around once more. I cared not weather he was out here, it was his choice and not one. The Captain may get a little peeved about this entire situation but I did not mind. "I am always out patrolling at night William, it is what I am mostly assigned too after all." I said to him as I turned to look about, my sharp eyes noticing some odd things here and there.
I stood there for a moment before looking back at him and sighing once more. "What you say seems right. Most likely the person is a Male because of who is targeted. He is probably strong because of how the victims are held and how they are unable to scream or call for help. And they must be quick to get them victims in the first place. My best guess would be a middle age man that is a sturdy build. Someone that probably looks presentable since these victims would never let a slum approach them." With that I turned once more to look around before looking at him. I had figured it long ago it was a Vampire, one that appeared to be middle age and probably a looker. The victims that are chosen are young females between the ages of 18-26. They are slightly more of the upper class. The Victims are always found in the morning, not far from the main street. They seemed to be have been gagged, most likely by the hand, as so they could not scream. They are also often forced up against a wall or something and held there.
Crunch, ah that sound was so satisfying as my large canine teeth crunched down upon the bone of some unknown creature. I had not really cared what bone I had picked up the night before, only the fact that it was some type of bone. Large black paws holding the end of the bone, while the other end was up in the air with my jaw locked over it. Through the crunching of the bone, the faint sound of a voice echoed up to me from down below. It seemed that Val had returned from her little stroll. I quickly moved the bone away and pushed aside the bone chunks so that the feline women would not see the mess I had been making, she was not a fan of how I favored chewing upon them.
Satisfied with my hiding job, I quickly shifted back to my human form. The large black dog morphed into a rather ratty looking young male. I ran off to the stairs where I jumped onto them sliding down the railing and to the floor below. "You know how much I hate water." I said to her as I came be-lining into the kitchen. Yes I know it was funny that as a dog I did not favor water, but I really did not. I hated baths and anything dealing with getting clean.
"Ah," William responded, "you make a good point. Still, I have no clue how he could have drained them of blood. It is not possible to do it posthumously." William paused and looked around, doing as Duraal did. He pondered the latest victims, and how they had been found around the main street. It was a bold move, also for the culprit to be preying on upper class citizens. Usually, such cases were limited to Whitechapel and the East End. Yet somehow, this was different. Not to mention the lack of witnesses. Obviously, the girls had been tricked into it, and the killer must have been incredibly strong, not to mention experienced. He was also impressively selective, so it was easy to tie the victims to his patterns.
At last he continued, "I wonder how I forgot that you work at night. I suppose it's because the Captain always disagrees with me working off the clock, or as he refuses to admit, at night. Well, I figure he needs me, so he should know not to hassle me about it. A case is better solved, regardless of how we solve it."
William sighed. "I've probably talked your ear off," he finally realized. "I hope I'm not interfering with your patrol. One last thing though, and it may sound like an odd thing to search for, but I bet a hundred shillings that our culprit is handsome. Too handsome for any good. Otherwise there is no way he could have gotten away so easily. I suppose you can keep an eye out for such a fellow. He is likely upperclass and very few of them will be seen on the streets at night. It's our only hope for finding a suspect."
