I go to my Grandparents house and we have a smashing time!

our tradition starts with us waking each other up (parents included)
then we get to the presents, we usually open 1 present on christmas eve, but i don't really want to spoil it by picking the best gift on accident. We then open presents, parents drink coffee, ect. after that's all over, we bury out tree in the ground and then after it's done for, we usually cut it for wood for the fireplace.

In my country, we traditionally exchanged gifts on December 24, however wait and open them on January 13th.

On January 13th I normally wake around 8;00am and come downstairs to a traditional Christmas meal. This includes fish paste, bread and berry sauce.
After our family joins around the living circle to open the exchanged gifts. We normally party and eat until 6;00pm then the family leaves.

First, me and my brother wake up at 5 AM at the latest, and run screaming into our parents room.
Second, we sit down at the table and wait as patiently as one can for our parents to wake up.
Third, we get tired of waiting and run screaming into our parents room.
Fourth, our parents wake up.
Fifth, our parents wake up our gramma and uncle.
Sixth, they all go get coffee.
Seventh, we finally get to open the presents!

on christmas eve, my family and i wake up and open one present, which are ALWAYS pajamas! we all wear our pajamas (sometimes theyre matching) so we all look festive christmas morning

Ayy! christmas traditions! I love reading about the weird (but cool!) stuff people do this time of year.
My family is from Ukraine, and even though my primarily Russian speaking family members have passed away almost a decade ago, we still try to keep their traditions alive. We do this bread and honey passing, where the eldest man (either married or blood related) in the family passes a bowl of blessed bread and a bowl of honey around to everyone in the family, from youngest to oldest. It's supposed to give us good luck in the new year, I think. Then we do a small chant in russian that wishes everyone a merry christmas. We also have a tradition of leaving one chair empty at the dining table for all the family member we have lost in the past years, so they can sit with us in spirit. I think that one is the sweetest tradition we do. Also the most impressive one, because of how many people we have come to dinner each year. (More than some people have to sit on the floor to eat, lol0ololol) My family is huuuuge, and we loose many people every year, and every time a big family get-together happens, there are always a few tears shed to the ones who sit in the empty chair. Is anyone else from Russian/Ukrainian descent that does this stuff too? Maybe you can clear up the chant we do. I usually mumble it because I honestly don't know the words and I'm too embarrassed to ask my grandma. LOL I'm sorry gram!

My grandma gives up pyjamas on christmas eve and we all put them on and go to bed. Then in the morning we go downstairs and go through our stockings. Then we eat breakfast and open up our presents.

On Christmas we all usually just do our duties first. Then when my parents are done doing that we eat and then open presents. And when night falls we all watch a movie and drink cocoa. *^_^*
