My family goes to Gramma's house and so do my cousins, aunts, and uncles. On Christmas Eve, we all go skiing and/or go to a Christmas Eve service at Gramma's church. That night, we eat traditional Scandinavian food for our Christmas Eve dinner. Then we gather around the tree and read the birth of Jesus from the Bible. After that, we go around, oldest to youngest, each opening one present until they're all gone. The next day, Christmas morning, the children open their stockings and we lounge around watching TV. I come home Christmas day, and there are usually a few "surprise" presents left over at my house from my parents.
I've followed that routine ever Christmas basically. We almost always have snow, and if there isn't, then it's a disappointment. I think once we couldn't go to Gramma's house because there was a blizzard.
