Ryo saw the action, and heard the words, but his body was already moving. He shoved Cookie into the bush using his extra weight and turned to the human, his whole body bristling. He bared his fangs and let out a low and ugly snarl. Something had snapped in him. He would not. NOT let this human take this dogs life and use it for his entertainment. The thought of her in a ring, fighting to the death, made the blood lust of the wolves descend over him.

He growled louder and took a jagged step towards the drunken human, the threat clear. Move any closer, and your neck will meet my teeth.

The pain had vanished from his hip and he stood firmly on all fours. In the dim area of his mind that wasn't clouded by the red haze of the blood lust, he knew that after this, he would have no energy left. He would be spent and would have to rest in this god awful forest for a day or two. But it was worth it. The human yelled at him, only wanting Cookie. Ryo growled louder and suddenly, he threw back his head and howled. It was the wolf's howl of a challenge, starting at a high pitch and slowly lowering, ending with two or three guttural barks. He could almost see the shiver going through the human as some primitive instinct kicked in and warned him that he was facing a predator. And this predator was pissed off.

Ink whined quietly and rolled over, still limp, but almost awake. Her eye open slowly, light flooding in and making her squint "....where....am I..?" ink managed to say, looking to her left the see another dog sitting beside her, growling sometimes for a unknown reason to her. where was here card board box? The one in the alley? The one she lived in before being send... To the ring, the dog fights. She was a favorite among the cruel people who watched, her wolf blood made her look bigger and feircer, and she was quicker to fight than most dogs. Maybe that's why she was here. Ink frowned, confused by all this. Sand still clung to her silvery fur, and she looked at the unknown dog again

Cookie yelped as she was shoved into a bush by Ryoko. She shook her head after being pushed on her back and hitting her head against the hard floor. Why was a dog she just met protecting her? She stood and shook herself off, trying to keep herself from closing her eyes. Her head hurt emencely. She poked her head out of the bush, watching as Ryoko stood up against the human, "What are you doing? I'd rather go with him then have you get hurt again!"

Breathing an enormous sigh of relief, Philonicus stood and shook out his sandy locks, panting happily. "Well," he said, tilting his cranium "You're laying on a beach in gorgeous, sunny California. How lucky you must feel." Clambering to his feet, Nic dug his claws into the grains of golden sand and lowered his chest toward the shore in a huge stretch.

Inks face went blank for a few moments, then she slowly got to her feet, wincing in pain. Her large paws sunk into the white sand, and the sun beat down on her. ".... Oh.. I see. Who else is here?" ink didn't know what to think, she had just woken up, and it was still blurry in her head "Maybe in slight pain, but I don't really feel lucky just yet" she frowned again, then looked up at the board walk.... And the humans. Ink gasped, and flopped down into the sand again in terror. "humans" she managed to stammer. Humans had ruined her life completely, abusing her and making her fight. Ink never wanted to see any at all

Sloan sighed softly, weaving his way through the throngs of people, making his way to the beach. The Akbash mix had been looking for something to eat,m but he had found something even better - more dogs. Sloan hadn't talked to another dog in a good week and a half, and he was just dying for conversation. With a small grunt, the large dog heaved his fluffy body up and over the rail that divided the boardwalk and warm sand. With a happy sound, Sloan let his paws sink into the white sand, warming them and making them feel smoother. "Ahhh," he groaned in contentment, then opened his eyes to see a few feet ahead of him, and small group of dogs. There was a wolf-like dog about the size of Sloan, and another dog that Sloan couldn't quite make out because he had just been shoved into a beach-grasslike bush.

Keeping quiet, the black and white dog sat in the sand and cocked his head to the side slightly. The wolf-dog looked angry, and the human he was squarely facing seemed nervous. Don't you have any common sense? the Akbash insulted the person mentally. Any dog here could kill you right now, and you're just standing here? Humans are so stupid!
