Silverfang shook her head and snapped out of her daze. She gave her pup a few rough licks to warm it and then picked him up and brought him to her den. There, she carefully leaned onto her side and let the other pups nurse. He placed the runt between her paws and tucked him in next to her jaw so he could get dry quickly. It suddenly struck her how un-runtlike her little runt was. He now showed the energy, strength, and size to rival even 'Ranger'. This was the name she had given the largest male of her litter.
