What you currently do:
Swim team, I have a big meet coming up this weekend.
I'll be participating in IM, 600 Freestlye, 600 Backstroke,
and a 500 breastroke. And at the end for fun were doing a 200 MR.

Surfing! Two weekends ago I had a competition and did
pretty good. The current boards I have right now are:
sevent foot foamy, 6'6 soft top, 6'2 hard board, 6'4
hard board, and a fish board.

What you have done:
Paddle boarding, snorkeling, surfing, swimming,
and water polo,

What you want to do:
I really want to take a diving class to learn the flips
of the diving boards

What got you into it:
I live 2 minutes away from the beach, and have
always loved the water. I started out just surfing,
but then my friend got me into swimming.

Advice you'd give to people interested in the same sport(s):
Surfing is super fun. It's a sport where you
always have to be open to new ideas and
new ways of riding a wave/catching a
wave/getting over waves. The most important
thing to remember when surfing, is that
if you wipe out, get right back on, don't let it bother you.

Swimming is a great sport and requires lots of exercise.
You will be sore every day, and you will feel like you
want to quit, but don't. It's so rewarding, and is just super fun.

Favorite parts:
I love when I catch my first wave in a competition.
I also love when I take a dive in a meet.

Least favorite parts:
Getting water up your nose during a meet.
Having your fin jab you in the leg when you wipe out.

What do you want to discuss the most on this thread? What interests you best?:
Anything really, I would love to hear from people who take diving classes.

@Solarizing - your b-day is on December 11 right? Mines on the 14 C:

Welcome, Winter!!! c: Wow, those 600 events sound super tough, you must be a great swimmer! How do you usually prep for those meets? And surfing sounds great too, I haven't done that yet but I've been open to trying it. I can agree with you about the being sore thing, lately I've been so tight in my neck/upper back/shoulders that I can't get into streamline just because those muscles have been all "locked up" from overuse. I'm definitely doing more stretching before my practices this winter!

Actually I'm American so we write our dates like month/day/year instead of day/month/year. (I don't know why, it's kind of weird and since I speak both English and French I always have to remember to flip between the two when I write dates.) So my birthday was Nov. 12th, but I'm glad to hear yours was recent! Happy birthday!! ^_^

The 600s are gruesome, I sometimes even loose count! Usually I have a lap counter, but one time we couldn't find mine, and we had to bring me to the meet, so ya, that sucked. One time, I swimmer the 600, and I thought I was only on 550, so I kept going, and everyone was staring at me like, "what on earth is that crazy lady doing". It was really funny!

You should definitely try surfing C: My parents have been finding it wierd that I have such bad knots in my neck and shoulders, but all the other swimmers get it to. I force my mom to massage out my knots, I can't get 'Em myself.

Also, I'm Amercian to! Lol, must have been tired from practice and read it wrong!

Hahaha  Oh my goodness it is so funny you mention the massage thing!! I can barely raise my arms above my head and it's my upper back that's sore - totally can't reach that myself! I'm currently trying to beg/persuade/deceive my mom into massaging the pain out and its driving me crazy cause it's so sore and it would only take her three minutes to take it away! If I date a guy in the future I am definitely tuning him into the fact that rubbing my shoulders is the fastest way to my heart!

When I was first starting out swim (I actually started swim as a junior in high school so very new and inexperienced) I was doing backstroke and somehow I changed lanes mid-stroke without even knowing. When I got back to the wall my coach was looking around the water and when he saw me he was like, "Sola I thought you done drowned out there!!" it was kind of funny X'D

      hi infinitycs!
      @surfer ;; i've never heard of 600 backstroke or 500 breaststroke!
      could you tell me more?
      i have a friend who's a distance breaststroker,
and she'd probably be great at 500 breast.

I found I wasn't a great fast short distance swimmer, but a great long distance swimmer. We poked around a little bit and talked to my coach, and he said around our area they have LOTS of long distance swimming. When I started I didn't expect it to be that long though! They get kind of rough, but fun.

What you currently do:
Swimming (Competitive racing)
What you have done:
Just swimming, unless water polo at school..
What you want to do:
Surfing!
What got you into it:
When I went to Gran Canaria at a young age and saw people surfing the ocean waves. It looked awesome, unfortunately I live in the UK.. So the water's normally cold.
Advice you'd give to people interested in the same sport(s):
If you wanna be something big, never give up. There's this video of an armless Paralympic swimmer winning a race and despite that.. He didn't quit swimming C: so if this guy can do it, you can!... That was cheesy :3

Favorite parts: IM.. mostly because of breaststroke and freestyle, they're like.. My strong strokes. 50-100 meter sprints cuz I'm a short distance swimmer. But I also enjoy 400 meters.
Least favorite parts: tumble turn and under water work (butterfly kick)... Also the fact that I use strength instead of technique. Yep..
What do you want to discuss the most on this thread? What interests you best?:
Mostly competitive swimming, and I'd like to talk about surfing to other people who like in the UK.

Say hi! c:
Yuh. I’m not particularly active on this anymore.
I’m tryna find those who I became good friends with
during the early years of this account.

Feel free to reach out if you remember me.
We’ll work something out ^-^

This profile has seen better days.

Welcome, NightProwler! I'm a competitive swimmer too but unfortunately my school schedule has been so crazy these past few months that I haven't been able to train. I am organizing a regimen for the summer though, so after I move I'll be able to swim competitively =D I like your never give up advice. Sometimes there's a negative part of my mind that tells me I can't swim (or do other activities) so I have to remember to not stop in spite of the doubt.

Oooooo! New person! Welcome!

Hey, I kind of want to get into competitive swimming, and I probably could in the winter, but otherwise my schedule would be too darn busy. Anyone think I should ask my mom next year, or no?
