What ever team (i'd say), works for you. But in general, try for high level pokemon with a vast range of attributes.

I got HeartGold for Christmas so I decided to come back here.

In pokemon leaf green, what is the best team to beat the elet 4?

Wolfspell, try to find out what type each Elite 4 member specializes in, and find Pokemon who have an advantage over them based on type. Make sure to train each of them equally to where they are at least 3 or 4 levels higher than the Elite 4's Pokemon.
So basically what skinwalker said, just with more detail.
It always works for me. :3

Dangit! I've been spending too much time raising my Eevee that I haven't gotten my Red Gyarados and Pidgey over level 40. I tried to battle her just a minute ago and couldn't lay a hit on her last two Pokemon... I'm doomed.
