I've been looking for this group! I am cycling my tropical fish tank and hope to get some Molly's soon, I had fish for years and then I thought, I'll pack up the tabk once all the fish pass away and here I am 5 years later getting it back out and getting it ready because my fishes guppies are getting physical and having too many kids

he's getting more and more lethargic. he's even falling on his side a bit. i'm really worried, the chances of him making it are decreasing. does anybody have any advice? i don't want to lose him yet..

Epsom salt and 100% daily water changes. If the swelling doesn't go down after a few days of that or he seems worse, you need medication: API Tetracycline, API General Cure, API Triple Sulfa, or Mardel's Maracyn.

Iam thinking about getting warm water fish and i have two little questions
1) i already have an aquarium and filter, what are the other extra costs?
2) i saw this beautiful fish breed a few months ago but i cant remmeber the name.it was fully black but when it moved he had a rainbow of colours it was quite smal (about the size of a young goldfish) so if anyone knows the name it would be amazing
Thanks.any other information about fish for warm water is welcome

1) You will definetly need a heater to keep the tank at stable temperature.
2) Can you describe the shape of the fish possibly and bit more accurate in size? Chances of course are it was also a not full grown fish, so it would not be possible to make guesses based on the size... Not many fish come in black color though... Could have been a betta since they are pretty common and come in wide range of colors.

I could really use a wish right now, wish right now, wish right now...

Yeah, as Hime said, a heater, a thermometer is a good idea toob, to keep an eye on the temperature. Of coarse just get the right flakes do some research and if you want to know anything about good breed, I'd love to help you, I really recommend neon tetras and Molly's are nice aswel! (Molly's and Bettas are my favourite types of fish) If you're thinking about guppies just to warn you GET A NURSERY BOX because they will breed until your tank is all guppies!

1) fish are unfortunately pretty expensive to set up and keep, but it is doable. ^^ you'll for sure need a heater, but other little costs like sand/gravel, live/silk plants, decorations, ect can add up.
2) could it possibly be a betta? i'm not familiar with other fish, but it sounds like you were describing my little black orchid plakat betta haha. here's a picture of him. (':

How bad are the blocks of dissolvable food? I dropped one in my tank before I left school and am wondering how much of a bioload that will be while I'm gone. It's a smaller block designed for 3 days. I'll be back within the week, but didn't want to leave them without food. Is there a better alternative to long term feeding?
Thanks!
